Good thing about these

The best thing about these boots is when a low level person asks me for sow and i have SOE memed. All i have to do is right click.

White Dragonscale Boots are one of the rewards for turning in the head of King Tormax, a considerably harder task than getting a white dragon scale.
Better than e-boots
# Feb 12 2002 at 9:20 AM Rating: Default
E-boots have basically 9 wis 5 ac. These have 3 more ac. They have 15 dex, which will make a noticeable difference in your interrupts from PCs/mobs. They have 50 raw mana, so you're talking only losing 2/5ths of the mana off e-boots. To me all this and +2 to saves is better than e-boots by far.
lower lvls
# Jan 28 2002 at 9:30 PM Rating: Default
Can a lower level char do this quest if a high lv guild protects him and gets him the faction? ive got a friend trying to make the biggest twink possible and he said that you could trow hammers or something at the pulls and get the faction, then have gaurds to stop adds against you. would that work?
not bad
# Aug 27 2001 at 9:14 AM Rating: Decent
Got these a bit ago. Pretty nice, however you need CFE's for em, which seem to be rare and expensive.
nice boots

HAHAHAH, you have to be kidding. These are far from the best boots in game, i would never wear these except doing dragons or gods. They are worthless other than that. They are just a titch better than those joke Verm gaunts.

RE: WTF
# Jun 14 2001 at 4:37 PM Rating: Default
Bah wisdom is never a problem when you get into your 50's. I'm a 54 human druid, and I used to stress that I would with such a low base wisdom I would never reach 200 even with crunching wis in every slot I could. After getting epic and vermie tunic/bracers, I have more wisdom than I know what to do with. Already traded out my +8 wis shield for a SBC, wearing a tranix crown instead of +wis on my head, and I still have so much room to play with. I have seen wood elves hit well over 200 without GEBs or planar, so I can't imagine that some players won't hit the point where they would prefer the +mana and saves over wisdom. I have the 3 CFE's and leather boots, just trying to finish off my faction now. Phew! :)
RE: WTF
# May 15 2002 at 2:39 PM Rating: Default
base wis is only a factor during n00b lvls. later on, it is rather easy to get to the cap.
notice how you have twice the mana at lvl 2 than at lvl 1
RE: WTF
# Nov 19 2001 at 3:07 PM Rating: Decent
I totally agree with the wisdom dealy. I am only 31 and I am already close to 190 wisdom. I think other stats and looking good will be a factor in what armor I wear at such high lvls.
RE: WTF
# Jun 26 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Decent
Just to let you know, the difference between Humans and Wood Elves (Halflings are the same as Elves, actually) is a whole 5 points. So I beg to differ that they have a "low" base wisdom. :)
RE: WTF
# Apr 03 2001 at 1:39 PM Rating: Default
well since the main purpose wisdom serves for a druid is the increasing of you mana pool. i would say do the math, your getting 50 mana off these boots along with 8ac and the other stats. These are not bad boots whatsoever.
RE: WTF
# May 13 2001 at 12:12 AM Rating: Good
Mana = Wis/5 * Level
Level 50:: 50 mana = 5 Wis
Level 60:: 48 mana = 4 Wis (60 mana for 5)
If you can spare the Wis, then by all means these boots are awesome. And quite frankly, with all the other quests I don't see why you couldn't.

Without ANY of the quest armors, but with the best armor apart from that I can have (not counting Planar or extreme difficulty) I have 200 Wis.

RMB = 5 Wis
Woven Grass Bracelet = 9 Wis.
Drones of Doom
Net Gain (2) = 8 Wis. GEBs = 9 Wis. Alreayd onyl losing 1 Wis folks.

Nightshade Wreath: 5 Wis
Woven Grass Headband: 10 Wis
Prior Wis modifier for losing GEBs: -1,
Wis gained from this upgrade: 5
Net gain: 4

Oops, who needs GEBs now, I'm up at 204 already. Let's continue: (Granted, my equip doesn't rock anyone's world, but it's good).

Imbued Elven Chainmail Gloves: 3 Wis
Woven Grass Gauntlets: 3 Wis

Kromrif Military Leggings: 5 Wis
Woven Grass Greaves: 9 Wis
Circle of Misty
Net Gain: +4
Total Wis by now: 208

Elder Spiritist's Vambraces: Drones of Doom
Drones of Doom available on Bracer
Woven Grass Vambraces: 5 Wis
Net gain: +5
Wis: 213

Shroud of Nature: 6 Wis
Woven Grass Chestplate: 14 Wis
Regrowth of the Grove
Net Gain: +8
Wis: 221

Mana:
+45 Gaunts
+30 Bracer
+30 Bracer
+15 Head
+50 Boots
+90 Legs
+30 Arms
+80 Chest

Total: +370 mana

Other equip:
Springwood Club (soon to be Dark Ember) : 5 Wis
Runewood Shield : 8 Wis
Medicine Totem: 5 Wis
Velium Ruby Veil: 8 Wis
Golem Tear Ring (soon): 6 Wis
Diamond Wedding Band (soon): 5 Wis
Kunzar Mantle: 3 Wis
Mammoth Hide Cloak: 4 Wis
Crystalline Belt: 3 Wis

Eventually, I plan to get the highest of the Coldain Prayer Shawls, which if I've been informed correctly is:: 8 AC Int Wis sv Cold. That'll be another +5 Wis.

226 Wis. 26 Spare Wis.

There really aren't any better rings i know of besides the ones listed, and everything else together is 28 Wis.

That means that I gain a LOT of freedom to manipulate equipment.

Let's say I get my Epic eventually, that's +20 Wis. Short of Dark Ember, and interim Elaborate Scimitar (9 Wis) those are only weapons I see a point upgrading to.

You're looking at 230 Wis when I hit interim and 241 with Epic. And only 23 Wis from all other pieces that I'm not using.

These boots aren't great ALONE, but as part of the set, they kick ***.

The point behind all this is simple: It's relatively easy to overcome a 9 Wis loss ANYWHERE.
RE: WTF
# Mar 23 2001 at 9:18 AM Rating: Default
After you add up all the wis in this gear set (and I have all but sleeves and helm so far) you end up with about 80 wis added on, that doesnt' include jewelry. Also the amount of mana added totals to well over 500 mana. Add epic (which I also have) and you have 600+ mana in gear and more wis than you can get rid of. These boots rock for the mana alone, you don't need wis on every piece of equipment.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 2:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hey, I know, why not give Wizards a pair of boots that give +15 STR???? They'd get as much usefulness out of that item.
not sure
# Mar 14 2001 at 8:06 AM Rating: Decent
don't know if it wil be the same or not, but i have the shammy epic boots. they have clickable sow as well. it is self only however. not sure if they will do the same for these boots. do chanters get a clickable clarity effect? may be self only too.

LOL
I've a 58 level wood elf druid, the woven grass bp, verm bracer and woven grass bracer as well as a lodi shield. With all this (and a couple smaller items, but no jewel crafted ones) I have 214 wis and can't for the life of me figure how to get it much lower AND I'M NOT WEARING GEBS! In fact, I'm wearing iksar hide boots for the ac and agi they give. These boots will be a god send when I get them, already have the unadorned leather boots, just need the gems. Point is, you get a complete set of this armor and you will have 200+ wis, you'll be tossing out your face mask for mana/hp or full resist gear as well as other minor pieces, but the level of requirement is extremely low imo, it should be 55+ as the mobs that drop the unadorned are all 60+ and cast fire and cold ae's, with 200 fr I still get hit for full quite often at 58, a level 50 would get toasted.

IMO these are a great upgrade to Efreeti Boots. By the time a Druid does this quest, they will have well over 200 WIS. These boots have 8AC which is quite alot compared to the other boots that Druids can wear. The +50 mana is a great asset when dealing with a person over 200 WIS. The effect is pretty nifty. Instead of having everyone huddled together and casting group sow (which makes the caster mem and unmem the spell), the bearer of the boots can just right-click without looking at a spell page or even flipping for the right page. This also helps in multi group type situation where people keep asking for SoW. Overall these are pretty good set of footwear.
RE: Pardon?
# Mar 14 2001 at 4:06 AM Rating: Default
Actually, I couldn't agree more. I would wear these over GEBs anytime. It would have been nice if they tossed a bit of wisdom on them but the 50 mana more than makes up for the loss at this level. The resists are also not exactly huge but +2 across the board is a noticable improvement. Obviously, I will take 8AC over 5AC raw anytime. I guess all I would question is the recast delay or if there is one? Also, is the effect based on the level of the caster or set at a certain level as it is with JBoots? It *would* be annoying if these boots cast the JBoots version, folks would still annoy me for the 'real' thing.
RE: Pardon?
# Mar 14 2001 at 5:31 AM Rating: Default
ooooh geez, hell ya, these boots are quite, don't matter if they cast jboots version, don't have to camp ac, and, when you get a cancel magic type spell cast on you, quite the lifesaver
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 8:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why can't you make it easy for us to get a good sow? These boots would be so awesome if only they were all all!!! God 15 dex 50 to mana and resists with SOW....I know my SK would like these..but only the druids who need nothing but the ac and resists can wear these boots....just gets me steamed!
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 10:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lets think about this for a min druids dont get any manna regen buffs. therefore what is a way to compensate for this humm lets see oh yeah give us stuff that we have to use all the time to effectivly function as char as manna free oh and not to mention the willing ness for druids to give sows with these will go up and oh yeah never mind the 50 manna it has since our spells cost so darn much to cast unlike the 5 manna for sk spells and after a wis 200 it no longe effects the manna any way. and by the way if you are interested in the sow get the jboots.

# Apr 03 2001 at 12:50 AM Rating: Default
Protection of the Glades gives you as much mana regen as Clarity according to eqcasters, although it seems to give more to me. It also lasts a long time.

# Apr 05 2001 at 11:59 PM Rating: Default
what is Protection of the Glades?
PoTG
# Apr 29 2001 at 5:52 PM Rating: Default
its a group ac/hp/hp regen/mana regen spell
Ummm Druids DO Get a mana regen buff heh...
# Mar 13 2001 at 11:54 PM Rating: Default
At level 54 they get that wolf form that is also like breeze... Form of the Howler.
RE: DAMNIT VERANT
# Mar 13 2001 at 9:13 PM Rating: Default
You don't seem to realize that this is Druid quest armor. Your SK gets quest armor too, so why are you whining about not being able to wear these? And what are you talking about, most druids would be very pleased with the mana and effect in addition to the AC and resists. These weren't meant for SK's, or anyone else but druids for that matter...so quit complaining about it.
RE: DAMNIT VERANT
# Mar 14 2001 at 5:24 PM Rating: Default
I think what he was saying that it would be nice if Tanks could get boots like these. Jboots are nice and all but even with them you can't outrun most things in Kunark at higher lvl's. I think he just wants it so there are other ALL ALL boots like this in the game. However these are nice boots for Druids the mana and effect is nice for it saves a Gem slot resists are cool too but why the dex? Crappy waste of stats there.
RE: DAMNIT VERANT
# Apr 25 2002 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
DEX is not useless for casters. From everything I have read, DEX will help you from being interrupted while casting if you are being hit. That mana is useless if you can't get the spell off.
VERY NICE
# Mar 13 2001 at 8:55 PM Rating: Default
Good for druids that have passed the 200 wis mark. and also saves us a spell slot. Hope to see more of the woven grass armor.
