It seems to be that class armor restrictions are based on D&D and similar roleplaying games where metal armor blocks a mages spellcasting ability. A Cleric or Shaman's "spells" are more akin to prayers. Maybe Verant should let any class wear any armor, but the heavier it is the more casting penalty they take. Well, regardless, saying druids should be able to wear chain is just like an enchanter wanting to wear leather. If you don't like the class, don't play it lol.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2001 at 12:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dude shut the **** up about your AC and druid bullshyt. There has to be limits for all classes you twit! Gee why not give druids dual weild, and critical hits! HEY! why not give them the reserection ability too? Hell, even better, let's give them wizzy nukes, and all the chanter spells too! Yeah you dumb ***** Wake the **** up you little jerk off.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 06 2001 at 7:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Imbued Elven Chain Tunic (Tunare), can druids wear this, yes they can idiot poster. Did some HIE crap this out of is **** or was it MADE/WORKED by someone. It is a chain mail that was CRAFTED so your moronic argument over leather/ non craftable stuff is moot. AC does matter to any druid with an iota of intelligence.
quite nice...did I say quite? I meant holy crap nice! =)

I have not problem with Druids not being able to wear chain. But the name "Dragonwing" sounds like it is made from the skin of a dragon....that would be leather. I think they should have put chain somewhere in the name to help avoid confusion. I love my druid too much to complain about armor class, but look at a Ranger....the idea of a Ranger getting dual wield, double attack, wear hella armor, hella weapons, and get druid spells too....hehe.

Rangers do not get good AC, heck a cleric AC will put most rangers to shame. Except for monks rangers have worst AC for the melee class. Just makes playing my ranger more challenging Smiley: smile

Why yes, it would look good on my Pally, as well! Matter of fact...I still need a back item...hmm...invis to undead, sneak thru WW, cast lull on the MOB that drops this, pick it's pocket (and get the item)....
oh damn...then wake up and drool over the real nice dream.. heh...won't be seeing this for a LONG time...but it is a nice back piece for Pally's :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 1:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why is stuff that all the other priests can use, Druids are always left out? Like a druid would be against wearing parts of a Dragon...heck, we wear turtle shells on our heads for gawds' sake!! Let us in on the good stuff!! You can check lists of armor..and find items with 45AC ..Warrior only (yeah, more armor for them, we'll give them that), but scroll down the AC.....and nothing is usable by us til you get down to the low 30's - High 20s...what gives? Like Tunare wouldn't allow us to be protected...not like we get much more than spells (it's SoW, isn't it!? that's what tipped the scale and brandished us the "Ehh, they don't deserve it..but here, give them this leather armor looking thing, that seems to look like Druid armor"...)...okay...:calms down..I've said enough...just give us more, darnit!!

I have a level 52 druid and all I can say is its not worth complaining about - if you are struggling to get 200wis at level 50 as a druid then you're either:
1) a half elf who put all his starting points in STR and AGI or something
2) very VERY poor OR not in a guild that can help you out with stuff
3) new to the game or bought your account on Ebay and don't realise what items are out there

Playing the game normally (ie not uber-twinking) its much MUCH easier to get 200wis with a wood elf or halfling druid than any type of cleric/shaman - the only exceptions being:
a) high elf clerics (who have a lack of STR problem when it comes to all their nice heavy WIS plate armour)
b) iksar shamans (who can't wear all the shaman only plate armours)

Personally my druid wis has been hovering round 200 since early 40s - untwinked, I never charge for teleports or SoW (unless someone auctions it and I have to go out of my way to help them) and I didn't pack up my small guild to join a big-ish guild til L51 - so if I can manage it then you can - especially as everything is much cheaper now on auction than it was 18 months ago when I was levelling up. Now I'm working on getting more AC/mana/HP items and I know druids with higher AC than shamans/clerics (who generally need to sacrifice AC for some of the big wis items like jewellery when druids are switching out for 6ac/65hp rings). At top level once you have the Epic and Skyshrine/Kael/Thurgardin BP & bracers you can drop the wis gear in over half of your slots.

As for druids not wearing chain/plate thats not true - Velious/Kunark/Planes items make it possible to be in full plate/chain if you want - just check out Gladiator legs/arms from Kael (these have done wonders for my AC) or that silver plate stuff from Velks (crystal something?). The only problem I have with druid equipment is the Epic not having an effect thats all that useful in guild/group situations - you'd think Verant was telling us to solo - doh.

Every race/class has restrictions/disadvantages to balance their unique points - just live with them or if you envy another class then perhaps you should be playing that instead. Anyway at top level nobody cares what your equipment/wis/race is - how you play the game is far more important.

I don't disagree with your point (every class does have its own advantages and drawbacks, and it doesn't particularly bother me that Druids can't wear this item) but I would like to add my own $.02. I play a Druid, 44th level at current, and while I'm in sight of 200 (194,) I could very readily see not making it by 50. I have something that adds to my wisdom in EVERY SLOT of my character, save ammo. Sure, some of them are as little as +2 (gloves come to mind off the top of my head,) but I've looked on this site, and these slots are hard to get more wisdom for, more often than not.

And look, next level I have every intention of getting some ES vambraces, which will *drop* my wisdom by 3 points (in exchange for free DoTs... I'll take that trade.) The only good way for me to boost my wisdom dramatically, at this stage, is to:

1) Pick up one of those big +wis bonus items, like Golden Efreeti Boots at something approaching several K.

2) Do an annoying camp, like the Paw of Opolla (I have the platinum ring, so all I need is that gold, but doing it solo is tough when all the mobs still aggro on you, and its a really rare drop.)

I don't have that much available cash, either. Sure, I charge for most ports (don't charge guildies or for corpse runs,) but I don't want to spend hours just bamphing people about. The best way to get exp is to quad-kite, but the loot is often horrendous while doing so. Look! A set of Kodiak Claws! Worth 5pp to the merchants, and I only had to kill 8 of them to get one! :)

Anyway, just putting forward that maybe getting that 200 is a bit harder than you think, at least for some people.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 2:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hey, you think this is bad, check out the new booties we can quest for. +15 DEX! WOOHOO, can't wait to see what's next. They gonna give Rogues a pair that have +15 WIS? Maybe they'll Warriors a Shield that has 5 AC, but a nice +20 on their INT score, eh? How about a Tunic that's Monk only, has AC of 20, DEX, and AGL of +10, but weighs 25 stones?

You're a leather class, not a chain class.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 9:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I AGREE! Druids got screwed again! Come on Verant! A WISDOM booster like this and the druids are left out???? Here, slap my other cheek (wait while I undo this darned belt)!
Whining
# Mar 14 2001 at 8:17 AM Rating: Default
Stop whining. I play a druid in the low 40's. My housemate plays a 54 druid. Know what? Wearing nothing better than chiped bone bracers, foremans tunic, nightshade wreath and stuff that you can get in your 20's and 30's, she solo's. She has soloed for most of her life. She solo's high blues with no problem.

Yes, AC is more important for raids and uber mobs, but come on. If you're getting hit consistantly as a druid, you or your group is doing something wrong.

# Mar 14 2001 at 9:09 AM Rating: Default
Man, if your whining now about druids, i would hate to see what happends if you tried to play a ranger or something lol.

Druids dont tank, so they generally dont need to strive for ac.
Now if its the wisdom your complaining about then i guess i can kinda see why you might be mad that they dont get to wear this....But druids got it good so dont complain lol
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 26 2001 at 6:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its the whiner druids like the ones above (not this thread) that give all druids a bad name. Jeez, this is a chain item. us druids are NOT A CHAIN CLASS, so we cannot wear it. I have 200wis and 900+ ac on my druid...he is level 55. I was not in an "uber" guild until a week ago! Christ, stop whining like little girls. Sure, this is a damn nice item, its got nice AC and nice wis, but theres other stuff out there.
RE: Aww, come on!!
# Mar 14 2001 at 7:01 AM Rating: Default
Ummm the reason why druids can't wear this is because its chain classes and up. Shamans and Clerics can wear chain druids can't simple as that.

Isn't Vermiculated "Chain"?
RE: Aww, come on!!
# Mar 14 2001 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
It has the look of chain, but its not technically a chain-type armor.

All of the Dragon-whatever armor from WW is chain type armor, meaning druids, monks, and int casters cant wear it....get over it
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 5:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yea, well what about ES armor? its chain just like these, and has a plate graphic, just like these... what do ya know. druids CAN wear chain.. and vermio is chain too, its got the chain grapic when worn and when in the inventory, and ES is chain, but hsa a plate graphic. IMHO druids should be able to wear this.. and guess what I DONT EVEN HAVE A DRUID.... i play a ranger, and matchless is by FAR the best armor we can get w/o doing the kael quests... sure this is one more person to be competing against for armor when i go to WW. but they are getting the shaft bad. they need this cloak, other than this the best wis cloak for druids is like 8(?) this is almost twice as much. the bracers arent as big of a deal.. they have a ton of wisdom, but vermi has 9 so druids can deal with that. and another thing, karana druids cant wear ANY of the PoG druid armor. the hard *** quest ones... this is because its tunare's plane... but come on ppl most half elf druids. who need more wis anyway and since they follow karana they cant wear this. they should at least get some dropped armor to make up for it. they can kill tunare since they dont follow her, same with rangers i would love to get my hands on a helm of the tracker, but i cant b/c i have been playing since release and my ranger is a half elf. so i dont have to be a ***** with 80 str, so i made him a half elf following karana so i could come out in qeynos. since my friends all played in qeynos and you COULDNT get a TP when i started b/c there was NO ONE ON THE SERVER who could TP. rangers following karana should get a set of dropped armor too... well i am done *******

I play a druid and I don't think druids should get this. Druids are a LEATHER class. Sure, we can wear some things that have a chain or plate graphic...does that mean we should wear plate? Hell no! The graphic does not matter. Theres plenty of all/all stuff for me to equip an int caster in a full plate look. Does that mean int casters should wear plate? erm?

well this has the 7 extra str but 4 less wisdom which is worth it imo. Dunno if its worth the risk though WW is bad at times from what ive heard
RE: Beats my aegis of life Lol
# Mar 13 2001 at 10:32 PM Rating: Decent
Actually the aegis has only 10 wisdom so it's 1 more wis, 7 extra str and 3 extra AC. Loss of 25 disease resistance though.
