This is great for my warrior, just not yours!

Okay I'm wearing a full set of Crusty Armor(Dex hit) and whatever other slots I have empty, I put validues custodus into them(agi hit), so having two of these rings would really be nice for me, and would even increase my agi/dex over it's base amount.

Hi just your averave shaman with a few thoughts about all this arguing

I see valid points for why each ring as useful. I carry different equipment for different situations. The most important thing to consider is that everyone has different equipment and is a different level. This is all about Min/Maxing your stats, to your level, and how you play the game. There are many factors that can make one item more appealing then another.

At higher levels you wont need dex or str with your rings anyways. A 49+ shaman can buff you 134 str and 100 dex,(note this could change, b/c of a HoS buffing bug, lets hope it doesn't) This should max out your str and dex ability no problem. Agi is harder to max out even with buffs so that may be your logic to go with this ring.

If you dont have a shaman to buff you, you might switch these with the fire emerald rings with 6 str and dex. My rogue would where these to max out BS ability. Warrior might to get better strength bonus and procs.

If you are a mid level player (20-40) you might not have your abilities maxed or may only have one maxed (str in my opinion is easiest ability to max). If your strenght is maxed then this might be a better ring for you.

If you are the main tank or the backup that keeps adds off the casters, HP AC rings will most likely be your ring of choice. If you are not a Main tank you really dont need AC or HP, because theoretically you wont be getting hit.

Agility is rumored to effect your ability to dodge or evade getting hit. AC is supposed to reduce the amount of damage you will recieve from each blow. If this is true then if you get quick agro (ie from proc or BS) you want to dodge the blow and not take any damage. As you will only have agro for a brief moment. But main tank will be taking a continual beating ie they want ac to weaken the hits and more hp to take more hits.

I like this ring and want at least one to have in my ******* of equipment for my ranger, rogue, shaman, and warrior. Just remember what people choose to equip is to mim/max thier individual character There is no one right answer. I hope this will help some people out.

You may now flame me for any spelling or info errors, or because you hate kats and frogs...

Can anybody tell me how Dex effects critical hits, if it does how much?
Agility to AC
# Oct 30 2001 at 10:23 PM Rating: Default
i figured out the Agi to ac conversion.
1 AGI(on item) = 0.5 AC(on persona stats)
1 AC(on item) = 1.5 AC(on persona stats)

having a pair of these rings is the same AC as having about 4AC on an item plus getting hit much less plus hitting more plus more procs. i have a pair of velium black pearl rings and a golden black pearl choker and it feels great to have 21dex and 21agi in 3 items.(im a rogue btw)
so for all of you idiots who say these rings suck..
shut the hell up.

Umm try 3 Agi = 1 AC and 1 AC on items = depends on class. Nice try though pal.
As the person who made it...

I can say that about half the monks who come to me swear by their fire opal rings, and the other half swear by these, for pretty much the above arguments, and neither side has ever proven they're right to me or anyone else.

I generally sell these rings at 600pp each (and spare me the WHOA TOO MUCH rubbish - they sell just fine at that price) and I've had trouble keeping black pearls in stock ever since I started making these.

If I may point out- a long time ago Verant explained that AC showed two things- how hard you'll get hit and how much you'll get hit, combined into one number. I'm imagine the AC/HP rings mitigate how HARD you get hit, because it's improving your sturdiness. I'd imagine the agi/dex rings improve how OFTEN you get hit, because it's making you faster.

And I know which kind I have on my monk. ;)

For those who don't know... AC IS EVERYTHING. Not much else matters. That is why these suck.

Agil gives you AC and at the same time helps you avoid hits

(First Poster! nyah!)
This is a monkey ring all the way -=)
Imagine being twinked with 2 of these at level 1...
/drool

And people think it's not worth it being an Enchanter jeweler...in the long run..if you can get up to making Velium Jewelry (ie, can take the time to hop down your ceiling high pile of Enchanted Silver Rings and practice, practice, practice...), you'd be a jeweling god!!

Come on...if anybody has any kind of actual PROOF of the difference in damage taken between this and a 6AC ring, please post it (not just "my high level friend said such-and-such", either...real proof)- if not, then let's keep it to a friendly debate and not call anybody an idiot. Monks and rogues are mostly offense-oriented anyway, aren't they? And dexterity is an offense stat, especially if you have a proc weapon. This ring is very good for many purposes, and a 6/65 is very good for many purposes. Let each person decide what they want to wear...if you think somebody's going to get your whole party killed by wearing one of these instead of a Fire Opal (I doubt it), then just don't group with them. Quite simple, actually. Keep the flames in the forge, folks.

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 6:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Any monk who wears these is an idiot. They would wear velium fire opal rings (6 ac/65hp). *sigh* will ppl ever learn that stats mean nothing to a tank?.. AC/HP/RESISTS.. only thing saving your life.
RE: Monkey Ring!!
# Mar 23 2001 at 6:21 PM Rating: Good
Ok I know Im not high enough in level to get these items but I think something is wrong here

He said 6ac and 65hp *2 is better than stats
but at this level isnt 130 hp about one swing from a critter in Vel??

Just wondering i would rather not get hit with higher agil than be able to take 1 more hit only.

Thanks
please keep flames to a min..
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 2:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) if your not the main tank why wouldnt you wear these the +14dex would be a very nice added feature if your not the main tank.id have to say your an idiot for being so onesided
RE: Monkey Ring!!
# Mar 15 2001 at 10:04 AM Rating: Default
and what exactly would that 14 dex do? it wouldnt even mean one more proc in 4 fights, ***** that, because you will always manage to catch a little agro BECAUSE of a strong proc, so you dont want it to proc MORE and have low ac/hp at the same time.
RE: Monkey Ring!!
# Oct 23 2001 at 1:55 PM Rating: Default
rofl dont u know? Dex makes u hit more often... so if u not the main tank, lets think about this, then u will b hittin a ton more... as long as the main tank does his/her job of keepin the agro u will hit a ton more with an extra 14 dex :)

Ok people, if you didnt know.....agi brings up your ac, and at higher lvls it would mean a hole lot more than the 15 or what ever ac that the other rings had! :P

For bards and rogues, the added dexterity is QUITE desirable. It has been my experience that with a dex of about 105, I will still miss notes about 1 in every 5 attempts. And no the reason is not my skill in the instrument; all my instrumental skills are maxed.

Where a rogue is concerned, a higher dex greatly contributes to their ability to apply poisons and other rogueish stuff =)
