You ask why not have this procing improved invis the answer is simple.........you dont need it....with this item you can insta cast it even on the run........now on the matter of sneaking past skells leh their are many mean old undead farts out there...

Personally, I think it's a rather useless effect. Improved IVU has a set duration, so you don't have to worry about it dropping randomly. And if you really need to cast it on other people, I doubt you'll be in such a rush that you can't sit down for 5 seconds to mem it.

Even if the cast time is instant, and I dought very muchy it is, your enemy only needs a glimpse of you. Casting invis don't not wipe you from a hate list, it's just makes you indifferent. If they already hate you, for what ever reason, they continue to hate you even when your invis.

They may have nerfed this since may, but the cast time on this is NOT instant. I'll have to test this but I'm certain its longer than casting ivu normally. Just a convenience for not having to use a spell slot.
Cast time?

Anyone know the cast time on the ivu?
But ivu?!?
# Apr 19 2001 at 12:02 PM Rating: Default
but why regular ivu? why not improved? if you really need to be invis wouldn't you just take the 2 seconds to sit and mem improved and cast it, making this effect kinda usless except for travel in low lv areas, and that being said who cares if a skeleton is seeing you <shrugs>...too bad they dont think of original effects to put on these items instead of cheating us with crapy low lv spells on decent items.
also is it like the harvester when its equiped your invis to undead?
SKs

shadow knights should be able to wear these as well, they always leave SKs out of these kinda things

That's because this is the NECROMANCER quest armor. I'm sure the SK's will get something they can use.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 12 2001 at 11:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why would a SK want this? Or a necro? The AC sucks. The effect sucks. And the stats suck. Sure saves are good, but there is much better with more hp and mana.

Sorry, couldnt resist. The AC on these boots are good, as far as caster shoes are concerned, and as far as the saves and HP are concerned, these are awesome. The effect saves you the hassle of having to mem or cast the spell, making them convienent. These were made for necromancers that dont need additional intellegence, for once you reach 200, additional intellegence isnt as useful, except for tradeskills.

Post-53 or so, you've usually found the equipment to make your intelligence SO high that you're looking for 2 things in equipment: hp and resists. Wearing my resist gear my intelligence is still 202, which is just fine. Can get it over 240 if I put on int equipment, but why bother? These boots are a nice item for the higher-end game, when 3 or 4 items easily pump you over the 200int plateau.
