Ubber zone for mages
# Nov 17 2001 at 4:30 AM Rating: Decent
I camp here every night with a partner i find using /who all mag 53 59... we both us a 53, or 59 if they have air pet. Malosi ON and these bisch's stay stunned. Takes 2 mage pets about 3 mins to kill each mob, no nukes. Occasionally an ulthork gets a cheal off and we have to make a second pet but other than that its a breeze.. for mages. I have been in here with full groups that couldnt kill as efficiently. After the fight u reclaim energy pet and make a new 1, ghetto cheal.

Drops appear to be 1 piece of netted kelp per 3-5 kills.. lots of quest gems too.

Hope this helps all my fellow mage out there, this armor looks so fooking sweet its sick, plus all the sta and decent int and ac. All the people that say this armor isnt that good are dumb :P on raids I throw on the bd bracelets and such, rest of time id like a full suit of this armor on, even at 60.. except for the extremly rare drops off velk, tormax dain etc but i doubt ill ever get lucky enuff to be considered need for that.

My 2cp and stradegy passed on to fellow ubber mages~

OK...

I think this would be great (like many things) for a monk or rogue of lower levels. Granted by the time you can get them there is better... but, that is the way of many items in EQ. I will be geting a set for my Iky monk his Char sux anyway hehe )

where do these drop exactly?
# Mar 12 2001 at 3:12 PM Rating: Default
I'm not going to continue the "who's the best class for this armor" banter.

I just want to know where exactly in Siren's Grotto does this stuff drop and who do I have to kill to get it? I've never been there yet, so any info on this would be appreciated.

Since it's not NO DROP (like so many things are), I am hoping to grab a pair of these for my alternate character who is not big enough to go there yet.

They are a rare drop of on any of the walrus or sea-elephant lookin things. All of the Netted Kelp stuff is just random. We got 4 pieces in about 4 hours when we were in there but we also spent a lot of time killing seahorses.

Bulthars and Ultharks and umm, the other walking thingie drops these, Never found NK on the sea elephants or walruses. Have gotten a few NK on the walking big ugly mobs though.

you people are strange.....if any class can be narrowed down to most suitable for this its a Necro...the neg Charisma and 6int says this straight away....the lower a Necros Charisma the better his Fear works and all Necro's love int ...add the fact it has zero weight low ac and a bit of dex and it definately seems necro to me...dunno why you guys brought enchanters and monks into it just cuz it has zero weight dont make something a monk item...and yes Flamers...i know its all/all

Cha DOES effect fear. You are right on that. But you are wrong on how it effects fear. Lower cha helps fear stick.... on YOU.

Interesting that you say that negative charisma affects fear...I mean...Enchanters are equally effective as fear casters, and yet they are not particularly known for their low charisma.
RE: Necro

neg charisma actually effects pet summoning, not fear. the lower a shadow knight or necro's charisma, the higher the chance of a stronger pet being summoned.

LOL the only thing -cha effects is how much you pay for stuff at vendors.

I know...

all you people thinking cha affects fears and pets are smokin' something. Just open the spdat file, it's all in there.

hehe poor enchanters i see your gettin it up the ole ying yang
RE: once again
# Mar 12 2001 at 10:45 AM Rating: Decent
As an enchanter I would love to get these... Enchanters should already have tons of cha to spare anyway. I had 214cha with self buff at 34, so by the time I can get these I will most likely have much more then that(well, I will start trading cha for int so that will limit it anyway).
Oh No!

Oh No! There's a new item available, and somehow the fact that it exists is an insult to enchanters! I think I'll delete my 55 enchanter now!

Just kidding ;)

huh what are u talking about? this item is all/all so how are enchanters alone taking it up the ole ying yang?
umm... minus cha
# Mar 10 2001 at 3:27 AM Rating: Default
Obviously he's refering to the minus charisma on this item. Not good for enchanters (
Ah but...
# Mar 10 2001 at 8:19 AM Rating: Default
Ah, but barring a Monk or someone adding this to the resist gear bag, who is going to use this thing? Certainly no person who is hunting in SG. 10 fire resist might be useful in a few hunts but lordy, at only 5 AC on a set of arms, it won't exactly make anyone's wish-list, even with the 6 int. I will say, anyone but a Monk's perhaps, zero weight is always nice. I guess it would also make decent mid-level caster gear with the int but I doubt it would win out for too many 55+ folks and that is the population hunting the grotto.
RE: Ah but...
# Jul 11 2001 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
SG has been made slightly easier in a patch. It's not really 55+ now. More 50+. I know that until I recieve blighted sleeves or sleeves of the bonecaster...ect... these certainly beat the crap out of the gatorscale sleeves that I am currently wearing. I would be more than happy to swap those out for these. If, for some reason, I wanted to save a gp or two (yay. some day I might save up to having saved 10 plat to to cha! go cha!) then I can take these off. I like trying to keep my Cha up because I believe it helps my undead charms stick, but I can deal with that. Cha may not effect my charms at all, but it feels like it does to me. *shrug*

+6 str and +6 int, something every caster needs, and you're saying only monks will want it? hahaha

even if it was ac40, it wouldn't matter to a caster.
