16 Seconds
# Oct 22 2003 at 12:51 PM Rating: Default
The 16 second cast time makes this clicky effect virtually useless in my eyes. I've had this robe for quite some time, and have NEVER used the DS, not even to PL friends.

16 seconds is FOREVER.

I'd rather mem the spell and cast it, then med for the remainder of the time rather than stand up for 16 seconds.

i guess if your outdoors, and have a horse, it might be useful if you dont already have the better DS, but 16 seconds just makes it crappy.

but the robe rules with or w/out the effect just for the stats imo.

#1 its easier and not as frustrating to just get the drops in PoG. even tho it takes probably just as long depending on different things, its not as nerve racking. the robe of conjuration i think looks great. Im pretty sure that the robe that chanters get, i think from PoG as well looks just the same. kind of like a shining metallic robe design but dark blue with green acsents and some other color cant remember. personally i think its one of the hottest designs. i love the look of all PoG drops. on my wizard i ahv the sorcerers robe. much better lokoing then sages robe in my opinion, for mages would u rather be in a blue and dark green robe or a purple and puke green robe.. for me no contest.

Robe of Conjuration take II
# Aug 03 2002 at 2:27 AM Rating: Decent
This robe is the exact same as the Robe of Conjuration I got in PoG just different look to it, the stats are identical and the effect is the same. Personally I think getting it from PoG is easier but either way I love my robe and am very pleased with the effect (cast it on a horse and just med for a while)

only time I see this useful is for chain petting.. If you and another mage had the effect items, it could own... The partner would get rid of the 50% pet xp absorbtion, or so I have heard when you are grouped... then reclaim energy with the bracelet, summon pet, burnout with legs, DS with the chest, but it would only be useful when pet is getting hit, and you have something else to get hit when you are casting such long spells.

Actually at 54 I find the mage role often to be a DS caster (i.e. Boon of Immolation) on the whole group which will NOT affect the pet.

I often wished I had a clickable "Shield of Lava" item to enhance my pet for the rare chance he gets aggro or is used to pick up an add that we cannot mez for some reason.

In addition, with the limited spell icon slots having Boon and Immo in slot limits our abilty to house damage, shield and other pet buff spells.

What you need and where to get it
# May 22 2001 at 10:14 AM Rating: Default
The Pristine Emeralds can be obtained from either Siren's Grotto, Velketor's Lab or Necropolis. Any level 56+ mob in those three zones can drop them. They are kinda rare though. It can take up to 10 hours just to get one. And the Ancient Silk Robe is from Kael. It is a rare drop from level 55+ giants in Kael either in the Arena or King Tormax areas. Good luck

Thanks for nothing verant.
# Mar 09 2001 at 4:18 PM Rating: Default
Dear Verant Interactive,

The choice of effects for this robe is pathetic. If it must be a dammage shield at least make it cadeau of flame. I understand that giving mages a mana-less nuke would be game imbalencing. (Well except for druids, shamans, wizards, enchanters, rangers, and shadowknights that all get them),But that doesnt mean make ALL mage equipment totaly useless. (Like the staff that drops of venril sathir, effect: phantom armor, no stats and completely worthless)

Instead of making it lame, it can still be made useful and sought after. Have it Cast "Call of the Hero", Yes make it still take a pearl so you can price gouge us mages till we are as poor as the clerics. But at least with that spell people would actualy want the item. The stats arent bad, but well, given the difficulty of getting the item, are about right.

As an alternative effect, have it cast a 10 second gate spell (Slower but uninterruptable). Possably have it gate to skyshrine. Just to be evil :) There is much that can be done, to make it interesting, sough after and not overly powerful.

hmm...the best of the best mana free DD item for mages is the boots of bladecalling off velketor...but up until then you can just get a burnt wood staff that clicks cinder bolt(333DD). Personally, i have the boots and i love em, but theyre quite rare off velk. IMO the robe and the BoBC are PERFECT for chainpetting, click a few DDs off the boots and then start a new pet summon.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 8:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) To the Thanks for Nothing Dear Verant poster.. Im sorry, but are you friggin insane! You get a nodrop robe with the most incredible stats, enuff to warant NO EFFECT.. Compare your Thurgardin robe to the enchanter robe stats.. Your stats are about 1/2 again as good, with an effect that is useful and COST NO REAGANT TO CAST! Rune 4 is nice for our robe, but we get Rune 5 by time we have the nice robe, and we still need to carry another backpack with 80 gems to use the effect of Rune 4.. Unless your Shield of Flames needs a gem for every cast, this has to be the best class only robe in the game imo.. And it goes well with your unlim. clicks of Eye of Zomm, Reclaim Energy, Invis vs Animals, Burnout III, Renew Elements, and the millions of other clickable mage only items.. Hell, your Ro quests give 3 pieces of NoDrop armor great for pvp, ENC get 2 pieces of NON Nodrop, which gets looted if we arent careful, and 2 wands with near equal stats that both suck (altho i do like the Alliance stick, handy for spamming the enemy out).. Thas all..
RE: Thanks for nothing verant.
# Feb 11 2002 at 11:14 AM Rating: Decent
I have to agree with the original poster to some degree. I just got my robe last night. The stats are great, and I like the robe overall. However, the click effect is somewhat problematic. I discovered that it has roughly a *17 second* casting time (vs. 5 for SofL as a spell). I wasn't expecting that at all, and am rather disappointed because of it.
Those mage items with neat effects
# Apr 13 2001 at 6:01 PM Rating: Default
Yes focus items are good. And there's a good head item in the Ro quests (not comparable to the wiz and enc mask but what the hey) but that's it. They may be NO DROP but most people actually play care bear.
Things I remember that are nice for mages:
Boots of Bladecalling (drops off Velketor - doh!)
The Robe and Pantalons from the Velious quests (the robe effect is a lowerlvl effect than those of others and costs less mana to cast but other people mentioned that)
and Epic (wizards got screwed on their epic and I love the effect on the mages one - nice work VI)

So mages get 4 items with nice effects. All the effects mentioned above are crap except for renew elements and I have no idea from where you got the idea that there's a mage item with that clickeffect. Enchanters got it bloody made, you even get ds with just a couple of less damage than mages and druids.

just my 2cp worth of raving
RE: Thanks for nothing verant.
# Mar 22 2001 at 7:38 AM Rating: Default
Rune 4 and Rune 5 use the same gem peridot. Rune 5 is far superior to Rune 4. honestly it should have rune 3 wich uses a jasper or rune 5. rune 4 is a waste of a component/cash for the amount of hp it is.

i would have given it bedlam but thats just me.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 11 2001 at 4:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd be pretty mad if it had call of the hero, anyone that would want that spell on the robe is either-too low to use the spell, or doesn't have it. I've never had any trouble havin enough mana to call of the hero someone and in a fighting situation its rarely needed that you CoH someone, would rather have caudeu of flame or aegis of ro (to be in line with the druids tunic <regrowth of the grove>). I would be pissed if they put call of the hero on it tho, i get SOME use out of the lava shield at least, call of the hero would be almost totaly useless for anyone that should have this robe.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 15 2001 at 7:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) im pretty low level, but not stupid. im also a mage.
RE: No CoH
# Jun 11 2001 at 3:16 PM Rating: Decent
I think that if it had CoH on the robe, it would be TOO good. I mean, I have been to a few KK raids where the mage would go ahead to the safe spot and we would slowly CoH everybody in and all the mod rods and healing it took.... CoH on this robe would make everything go 4 times as fast and the downtime after getting everyone in would only consist of reforming the groups. WAY too good.

P.S. I think the necro effect is kickn' :) a level 57 700 mana spell effect? Hello, PoA!
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 14 2001 at 7:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I beg to differ. I cast CoH a LOT, as it totally wipes someone from the aggro list. I find myself CoHing the cleric every other battle sometimes, and often the pulling tank that grabs too many mobs. The reason this effect will not be put on the robe, however, is because CoH costs 500 mana. Effects on all the other robes are 250 mana effects or thereabouts. Why magician robes were stuck with a 120 mana spell is beyond me, and I must agree that by the time we get one of these robes, having a free cast of that spell will be worthless (aside from buffing newbies), since Cadaeu of Flame is much better.

so invis to animals is completely useless...
ever lost a pet in a dungeon? wanted to kill the pet fast, before you start getting those nice "taunting attacker master" messages, but you didn't have invis up? invis to animals is pet instakill... free. imho that is useful.

Come on, this no drop class specific quest armor cannot be used by my Ranger, wtf? Verant always stiffs us. Give me a break, people need to quit whinging about what they DON'T get and go get what the DO get. Check out the Thurgadin Monk quest armor, it is pretty good too, and the Kael Drakkel armor is even better than that. I mean seriously, I do not ask why I cannot use the staff of the tranquil.

i don't understand why people always think thier class got screwed when another class gets a decent item. you can't just have every good item in the game ya know, when monks get some new super-uber-godly 2hb i don't go around posting how "druids got screwed again", because we didn't. it seems as though people think a benefit for one class is a dteriment to the rest, but its not, so just be happy for all the mages that get this cool robe, and stop whining

Can you say... NO! hah, this sucks compared to nerf quality stuff, its helpful that you don't have to use mana when casting shield of lava, but no more than that and its got high int and mana... big deal... shroud of veeshan has same int 110 mana... I mean come on! think of emerald dragon scale armor! 20 wis! Crown of rile 20wis 20int 20str! Robe of the azure sky 20int 20wis... you see my point, although the last 2 are very rare and the 3'rd to last is sorta very rare this is just not that great.
RE: Oh...my...god
# Mar 08 2001 at 7:15 PM Rating: Default
i agree i got this a few weeks ago.. the casting time is around 15 -17 and its sad compared to the wiz and enchanter and necro robes who all give high 50+ spells on them
kinda unfair .. they should of gave us our higher level damage shield

RE: Oh...my...god
# Mar 09 2001 at 1:43 PM Rating: Default
They are changing the DS to 56 DS, OR aegis of ro, since the druid velium tunic has regrowth of the grove they are considering aegis.
RE: Oh...my...god
# Mar 08 2001 at 10:47 PM Rating: Good
Just to clarify, the Wizard robe does not have a 50+ spell effect. The effect is Enticement of Flame and is a lvl 44 lure type fire dd spell.

Do not get me wrong, I think the effect on the wiz robe is great. Just wanted to state that it is not lvl 50+. Also, the casting time on the the wiz robe effect is aproximately 30 seconds which is 5 times longer than the spell itself, but hey its mana free.
