unless that caster is thinking about gettin his magic resist up as high as he can and his normal item in his hand only has 10magic =) id carry this staff in the bank just for specific raids.. trust me.. resists are very important to a caster.. specially a wiz.. cause we hit hard n pull agro at the worst times lol.. ***** mana .. ***** int.. if im on a raid.. give me hit points and resist gear! heh =P good luck to you all taygarr wiz of the 55th season the seventh hammer
HEY Verant make this 1hb and then maybe there will be a chance for a caster to even think about using one of these.
it seems they have this idea we all want to emulate the "wizards" of myth. Merlin and Gandalf used 2-handed staffs but no caster i know of would sacrafice stats for fashion.
monk downsides: 9.5 weight || horrible stats relative to other 2hbs available to them || high delay makes it less desirable to someone just wanting to keep their 2hb skill up || +int and +mana are worthless to a monk, even a trade skills monk who want's int will be able to pick up a cheaper stein of moggok.
wizard downsides: 12/40 isn't that hot of a weapon for any class let alone one who doesn't melee well to begin with || high delay makes it less desirable to someone just wanting to keep their 2hb skill up || 5int and 15 mana isn't worth giving up a 1h weapon and most +int or +mana offhand wizard useable items.
All in all, I'd probably either give this item away to a low level wizard or sell it for maybe 200 plat but probably less, if I could get that.
Yes some clowns bid this up to 7k plus at one point on eqprices, hence the 5k asking price. Someone offered me this in trade for a 500pp item quoting EQprices. But the stats don't lie worth 5pp to Monks and maybe 100pp to wizards. I bought a sacrificial dagger and a stein for 430pp total thats 15int and 5/21 damage, which beats this item for sure in my book.
Hmmmm ok i bought one of Shady Shawshbuckler in EC for 360pp cause i asked for a PC and someone said about 5k one even loaned my 200pp to help buy it and when i go to eqprices.com over 5k but i have seen anywhere from 700pp to 2500 to 5700pp hmm i wonder how much this thing is really worth?
It's 2hb, any caster worth half his weight in anything is gonna have a stein of moggok, for half the price most people want for this with twice the int, and better saves as well. This staff is really only useful to grade A newbie casters, who are actually going to be doing combat. Beyond that, it's as worthless as any other piece of newbie gear.
Most casters will be sacrificing 15-20 int plus other stats or 'chanters 27 int with crude stein and rod. Just not worth it unless you're actually fighting with it.
Thus, I can't see it selling for more than a few hundred platinum, and the wise caster is gonna invest that in a stein and save the rest.
