The Frosty Gem of Enhanced Protection has two chances to drop from the reward chest named a frost-glazed box. The chest named "a frost-glazed box" always spawns upon the success of the raid. So does the chest named a frozen treasure chest. The chest named a weathered barrel is a bonus and only spawns if the animals event was successfully completed. this bad boy dropped very first run we did. on mangler, during the PoR expansion...
followed the eqprogression site's instructions for clearing all events, in order
put it into my cleric 2.0 shield cause its really hard for find AC augs that fit in slot 4 secondary and the 35 AC into shield gives you *actually* 35 AC without diminishment

Why is still in big demand even for 115 tanks?
It's the highest AC item you can obtain for a Type 5 slot on a shield. AC uber alles...
If it fit Type 3 slot it would be super-uber. That's why this is the only slot the devs didn't allow it to be placed into. Warriors, at least, don't have enough Type 3 augments to buy to fill all their available slots so this would be incredibly useful to fill a Type 3 shield slot.

This event takes my 110 Warrior about 8 minutes to complete. I have completed my 30th run today, and still no Frosty Gem of Enhanced Protection.
I have seen every other drop listed at least four times. I get three chests every time. I am beginning to believe the gem was removed as loot LOL.
Anyway, this is such a trivial event now. But my shield sure could use an extra 35 raw AC. :) Come on RNG. Side with me for run #31!

Took 38 runs mine just dropped.
The only thing I did differently than any other run:
I killed the sludges in order from biggest to smallest. Didn't kill any tiny ones until the bigger ones were all split.
I also turned all the skellies RED first, then turned them to icy.
So I don't know if it was these changes or just RNG luck.

Definitely "uncommon." 6 tries, no luck. I have to remember to keep repeating it as soon as the lockout expires!

Why won't this F'n aug drop?! I've done this S__t 5 times now and it hasn't shown up. Is there any specific order to do the tasks?? I did all of them as described, killed the mobs in order, failed the Warder task, spawned two chests every time. What's going on? Give me my aug SOE!

First time doing this raid had myself 80 paladin boxing an 80 rogue friend with his 76 pally and shaman and another friend with 80 rogue and necro . AC aug dropped first time luckily , nothing hits that hard just need to bring enough dps to kill quickly . the adds with the main boss spawn after he does so you cant pre clear them. and make sure you have someone else capable of tanking because the banish and mem blur make it impossible for only one person to tank.

can anyone confirm that this really drops and its all augmentation
slots. so far weve done this raid now three times and its not
dropped for us. the only augs to drop were type 3 slot augs.
