purchased from Erudite merchant

Purchsed the shirt and pantaloons from the Erudite merchant near Quellious temple today for 4pp 6gp each (on M. Marr server). Also had gloves for same price, but I was wary of the graphic -- looked like bandages in the inventory! Guess someone wanted to practice their skills and use up their silk swatches, because they had more in stock.

Have no idea what the price of these would be from a PC, but judging by the usual high cost of anything with extra stats (and low weight for monks), it would probably be considerably more.

So that might be a good place to look if you want this item for a reasonable price. Of course, with the patch they will probably be deleted by tomorrow...

Does not replace...

The total ac for Crystalline is 38 vs Cured silk of 50. Mr, which is a total of 21, is nice but a priest buff or one item could get you this. AC is king for melee so I wouldnt call this replacement armor for monks.

Just an observation...

Go to a PVP server and say that

# Jun 28 2001 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
for some reason people on PvP servers want all out MR...
i have seen things sell for 150pp+ more than they do on carebear servers just because of a bit or MR. But im not gonnna tell them that they need heat, cold, poison, and disease resist just yet! oh no!

anyway, the moral is that crystaline silk will sell for a lot more than 1pp an ac on PvP servers..

I find it interesting that even though it is + save magic that it is not a magic item, looking at the screen shot. also of note is the coldain merchants sell kiola sap(sp?)leading me to think this is a raw silk version of the shirt with mabe a cured one comming soon. from what I've read the resipes are the same as the raw silk versions with the addiion of the metal thread, but i could be way off just typeing to make a post but who knows
What's it look like?

Yes this could replace cured silk, but I'm guessing you won't get that special monk look you do with cured as it's not designed for monk only

Combine in a sewing kit 3 crystalline silk swatches, a silver thread, and the tunic pattern. Crystalline silk swatches are made by combining 2 crystalline silks, off of various spiders in Velious, in a sewing kit. If it's like all of the base silk items, you'll never fail at it. Time for me to find out!

If you're an Erudite,Sin-look in West Cabilis. New sewing kit and an note for Terrorantula-silk armors there.

Just a couple of notes: crystalline silk is not Erudite cultural armor; the cultural armor is made from terrorantula silk.

And also, the sewing kit is also available in Erudin from the male tailoring vendor outside the Temple of Quellious. He sells the kit (reasonable price), the three metallic threads (from expensive to ungodly expensive), and a "Note on Terrorantula Silk."

Erudite cultural armor requres terrorantula silk swatches, platinum thread (the ungodly expensive one), and purified mana (a level 49 enchanter spell costing 1000 or so mana per cast and requiring some none-too-cheap components).
Skill
# Mar 07 2001 at 9:24 PM Rating: Excellent
Skill for this appears to be past 120. Made it with 93 skill (got lucky) on the first try, failed twice on the pants, got a skill up, and made 1 bracer, all non trivial. Reports from eqtraders say that the 1 swatch items triv at 115. This seems to be the bridge between quivers and the other tailoring from velious for those without cultural.

Recipe is:
3 crystalline swatches (2 crystalline silks each)
1 silver thread
1 pattern

There is no look as of yet, which either means that this is considered cloth, or it falls under the same category of the helms.

Where do you find the silver thread?
Do you make it out of some components, or can you purchase it from a merchant?
Thanks in advance.

Merchants in both Thurgardin(and oddly enough now West Cabilis) sell metal threads-silver,gold,and platinum. The West Cabilis merchant also sells ERUDITE sewing kits and a note about Terrorantula-thread armor.
