The corroded plate piece that dropped for this armor came off a gaint in kael from the arena last on sunday. Last night I got the gems from the bazaar, 200pp each. Was worth it. The boots look nice and have nice stats. I allmost have a full set of this armor. Just need the helmet, gloves, bp and legs. Gonna hand down my Cobalt boots to a guildie :) Ps, I still have yet to see a plate bp drop in the arena. Got plate legs on sunday night also but we gave them to our cleric :) And if anyone is still wondering what faction you need, it's kindly faction.
Champion's VS Berserker's
# Aug 12 2002 at 10:17 PM Rating: Decent
The Berserker's armor from PoG has almost the exact same stats on Champions armor, except that usually on each piece, one stat is switched around. For boots, it goes 1, 2, 3 instead of 1, 3, 2. Very close

AC keeps you from taking as much damage, HP keeps you alive longer. =pp The str, sta, and agi is in low increments, meaning it wont make much (if any difference) to the wearer. This is a minor upgrade to cobalt boots. Either would be a good asset to a mid 40s to mid50s warrior, who is likely upgrading from crafted or Plane of Hate boots.
these and cobalt
# Oct 29 2001 at 1:19 PM Rating: Decent
i have cobalt and these... i still keep my cobalt for the str buff but i wish these boots were at least 1 or two AC more then the cobalt
Iksar usable?
# May 16 2001 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
I know the discription states Iksar can not use this, but I have heard Verant has changed that recently. Can anyone confirm or deny that Iksar can use this?
RE: Iksar usable?
# Oct 01 2001 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
I won them the other night. They are now Iksar usable.

Uhmm...

ok... first of all, STR is not the most important thing to a warrior, it's all about AC and STA/hp.

These have the same AC as Cobalt AND 1str AND 3sta (about 15-25hp) AND 2agi (1/2 of an AC =)

I would take these over cobalt any day.... thing is... beyond mid 20's It's VERY hard for a warrior to solo... unless he's a twink, then increase that number to mid 30's... or so.. and even then, you bandage to 50% and wait 30mins to get the other 500-1.5k hp.. stats like STR, DEX, AGI are all easy to buff.. and since you wont solo, why do you need the proc? ALL a warrior needs is AC and hp!

Uhmm.... Sorry post was so long =)

Hehe, warrior cannot solo at mid 30 even twinked? Obviously you dont have the proper gear or the wherewithall to research where to hunt. Sure, if you are hell bent on getting to a certain level in a certain time, then by all means, keep grouping and going to other zones Heh. For me, I solo'd every level 1-35 In a few adjoining zones, never needed to trek all over Norrath to do it. Everfrost 1-10 (quality pelt money and silk stacks bought decent armor and weapons), Blackburrow 11-13, WK 14-17, back to EF to Catch 20, SK spires to 25. Made enough money from Tusks soloing Mammoth from 26-35 that I was able to procure Crystal Chitin, Crusty, Hero, Wurmy, Centi, Ikky BP and. Used that gear to Solo the Corrupt Qeynos Guard Camp in WK and Hadden in QH once ya get his spawn timed its easy farm loot from 36-45, all I needed to do was to take the weaker con guard out first, run to zone, heal up with ikky, run back and kill the tuff one, some bandages to 50%, ikky to full, and they are on a 12 minute timer so enuff dowtime for regen, always drop a bracer, that can be turned in for exp in NK (bring lots of bags). Its slow sure, its tedious no doubt, and there better ways to do it, But dont say it cannot be done.

"ALL a warrior needs is AC and hp!"
I disagree.
Unless, of course, as a warrior, all you do is sit there and take the hits and don't explore what your class can really do. Warriors are not meatshields all the time. We can be more than AC/Saves and HPs.

...and btw...buffs are easily dispelled...

...yes, I would take these over my crafted lol

First off... What proc are you talking about? Second, strength=damage and damage=agro. If you are trying to agro a mob who is equal or higher level then you in the 50+ levels, you'll find your taunt doesn't work, and all that hp and ac is going to waste as it creams the enchanter. That's why strength and powerful weapons are important.
Finally, cobalt is the same ac, with a 25 str buff on them. 2 agi *might* equal 1 ac, and 3 stamina is less then 20 hps. Add easier to get to that, and we have our winner.
While in a specific situation these are in fact better then cobalt, you can't always get a str buff, which is where cobalt is superior. Not to mention the stats are hardly worth considering on these boots...
RE: Uhmm...
# Jan 13 2002 at 3:03 AM Rating: Default
the proc he was talking about is the clickable effect on the cobalt boots. And while str does = more dmg u are talking about major increases in str to significantly change your taunt just due to str. When i went from a CoT to lammy i lost dmg but my taunt power went up because of delay. delay is much more important to taunt than str. and if u are worried about taunt then you are in a group, so you can probably get a str buff. The only reason for a war to buy cobalt boots if he has thurg is because he wishes to solo. If u have cobalt boots, gratz to u man. you might want to get the thurg just for looks or for group situations. and since u can sell the cobalt boots for some cash that might be a good reason to try for thurg. Granted the stats on the Thurg boots arent uber, but hey atleast you can use them in a group. just a couple thoughts.

well.. i have cobalt boots atm, if i were to get any velious warrior boots i would keep my cobalt boots still because the effect is CLICKABLE.. hence, i would click my cobalt boots and put these back on

I agree that the stat bonus are kinda funny. But the Ac is nice. Im sure these will be easier to get than cobalt boots aswell. Maybe? I dont know havent been to Velious yet :(
RE: re

If you are grouping with a shaman at all, then the effect on the Cobalt boots is useless, because it doesn't stack with, say, Storm Strength. I would rather have these, personally. I won Cobalt boots in KC, but they are by no means common (and I gave them to a warrior in my guild who could use them more, since I already had Indo). The components needed to get the Champions boots are much more common. The Crushed Black Marble drops off a number of mobs in Velious (Icewell, CS, Velks, WL, SG), and the Corroded Plate Boots have a chance of dropping off any 45+ giant in Kael.

I think that Verant has lacked quite a bit on these boots. 1 STR? Laughable, really. I would think that having to choose ONE, a warrior would take the Cobalt Boots, with Strength of the Kunzar proc, you know... But having both of these and being able to switch the boots on (For the effect) would be excellent.

# Mar 06 2001 at 6:42 PM Rating: Default
I agree with you, however this ones have more Armor Class than the Cobalt Boots, and to warriors AC is king, the proc is nice but easily rendered useless if you have a Primal weapon that procs avatar, a lvl 60 shaman spell that adds 100 to all stats.

Im the original poster of the reply saying that this babys had more ac than cobalt, im sorry, they don't for some strange reason I was thinking warlord's boots, which in fact do have more ac on them, sorry for the bad post

At the level a warrior wil be attaining these boots, his/her strength should already be maxed out. She'll probably be switching over from Cobalt, in which case any stat bonus is welcome. Also, Avatar does not increase all stats 100. It's only the 'melee stats', STR, AGI, DEX. It lasts ~6 mins.
RE: I must say...
# May 09 2002 at 12:30 PM Rating: Decent
Avatar increases STR/DEX/AGI/ATK by 100 :)
Just thought I'd let ya know ;)

The primal line of weapons procs this, or your best lvl 60 shaman friend also procs this from time to time, im the one that posted about that effect on the past post, Hyden is right, not all stats but melee stats, just said all to shorten things up, I've also noted an ATK increase of 100 when this thing is casted on me

Unless the warrior is a troll or an ogre, or a strengh-fiend, getting capped (200) str is pretty difficult without sacrificing other things like AC

Primal Weapons proc Avatar, they are found in Sleepers..Good luck to you trying to get these no drop UBER weapons, cause if you don't have a guild that is high enough to get to them then they will never be in your hands =(.
