I was foraging with my monk skill 50 max and 75 bard skill 55 max only pulling up roots, none of the rares. So i brought in my level 100 monk with skill 100. I foraged on all 3 character's. The only one pulling up rare forages was my level 100 skill 100 monk. Took a couple hours of foraging to get the drop. Got 3 regular gold nuggets before the fools gold one
So if your not of a higher skill level you might need a ranger or druid to help you. Good luck!

For those of us that can't use the Identify spell, or don't have a clicky. The correct Gold Nugget reads "This item can be used in tradeskills" in its discription, but are otherwise identical to the false one. This way you don't have to see if the one you spent forever foraging is sellable or not. So you are welcome monks =p
There are 2 types, same name. One is sellable for 4s8c, no notes attached to it. The other is not sellable, but says item can be used for tradeskills.

Foraged 3 of these in Frontier Mtns today - I can confirm that the non-saleable one, which is the one required for the Iksar Monk quest, is the one with the tradeskill tag.
Just hoping to save someone else the long run from FM to the nearest iksar-friendly vendor!

They found it in their hearts to give iksars a source of food with the innate 50 skill and cap in foraging and some guy comes along and says, "Hey, they can forage so why not give them rare items to forage that are suppose to be part of the iksar epics when we later come to our senses and give iksar access to real epics like everyone."
ok on the one that "can be used in trade skill" I got Item Lore: Frontier fool's Gold. the other one I have seen I could not identy it, and I think you just sell that one (being real gold) to vendor for money.

I just finished a GM event where two rogues, Harlen Squatter and Morchid Jumper, dropped Gold Nuggets. Now the character starting the quest/roleplay was Aksor Minor. This does not seem to fit in with any of the posts below either. Any Ideas?
there are 2 types of gold nuggets foraged in FM. one can be sold and the important one that is not able to be sold

very low end quest i think the reward is a few gold and maybe some decent faction. get em ident first cuz some are fools gold.
