Grand Master's Chest Wraps heal 100 hps per cast of invigorate.

Bind Wounds for monks, at 201+ level is 80 hps per bandage. Doesn't matter what your First Aid AA is at, or how much higher your skill is over 201.

At maximum skill, Bind Wounds is faster than GMCW.
Bind Wounds can be done while sitting, with healing AA going, and with sneak on.
Bind Wounds can be used on other players.
Class 1 Mana batteries, collapsable toolkit, and a gauze press take up 3 inventory slots.
Mana batteries are expended each time you recharge the press, and a stack of batteries costs quite a bit.

GMCW take up only 1 inventory slot, usually worn on chest.
GMCW are one of the better monk chest peices.
GMCW do not require any additional funding to operate.
GMCW break sneak every time.
GMCW break healing AA.
GMCW require you to stand.

Me, I use both. Lots of places you can't afford to break a sneak; or you need to get back to full health asap. If for some reason I forgot to stock up on batteries or banked my press, I'm wearing my GMCW and have healing immediately available.
This is good stuff

There have been alot of people on here arguiung about what a monk needs and doesn't need like AC, or stats, or resists. First thing: this has 16 ac, but 13 agi natural. My hardened sludge tunic (best monk tunic you can normally buy, unless you have money, and if you do, your main isn't a monk) has 5 agi because of an aug but 23 out of 24 ac, if I aug the GM chestwraps with a 5 agi aug that would be 16AC 13str 4dex/sta and 18 agi with good hp/saves. Now i'm not sure....but I would say + 13 agi would make up for losing about 7 ac and if not the 4 extra stamina would. This makes it pretty clear that for me, a self funded 57 monk, that this is a real nice peice of armor without the effect. Now, consider the effect because it IS useful, people have already posted the mat and BW at 201+ skill 51+ level is about 40 hp healing better per 30 seconds. Since I don't have alot of money for batteries and presses having this around for when I run out of bandies or when soloing would ne nice. Not even considering that being a monk and casting spells is fun. So no matter what you think is important for monks, this is a good peice unless your guild is in planes or high luclin and can get your undeserving **** better, but for this self sufficient monk this will do nicely. Besides, it's nice for a monk to be well rounded. This is my stuff
and I would say for having got all of it myself and being able to tank in planes with 2.1k hp 1.1k ac and 1.2k attack i've done well for myself

If the casting time on this is par with the kael bp, it is 16seconds to cast with instant refresh. With a monk over their 201 mark in bandaging, they can heal 85hp per bandaid and get 2 and half bandages in in one cast of the 90hp thing here.
It is a VERY long cast, 16sec. And it would only be used if out of bandaids.

My advice for any and all monks would be to invest in you a Gause Press, stack of class 1 batteries, and a collapsable toolbox. With that, you have 400 stacks of bandaids in your pack taking up 3 slots... 4 including the stack of bandaids. You can even help out if group member wishes a mage were there to summon them some... the bandages from the press are tradable and are not norent. but i stray from the topic.

The tunic is fairly good, not a lot better than the robe of lost circle, and I would not include the effect in judging it. After the novelty wears off or you hit 51, you will use the effect very little.

My 58 monk does 85hp per bandaid. 210 at bind wound and first aid lvl 3. If you can only do 80 then you must not have one or the other.

Alright, first off, the cast time is 15 seconds not 16... second of all, bind wounds heals 80hp not 85, whoever told you 85 misinformed you, if you did the math yourself, then i am sorry but you are wrong. even states it heals 80hp per bandage at 201+... now then, bind wounds cannot go off 2.5 times in 15 seconds, unless its hasted and it cant be. it can go off 1.5 times, it takes 10 seconds... now then, bind wounds IS faster and more efficient yes, because in 2 casts of invigorate (30 seconds) you can do 3 uses of bind wounds (also 30 seconds) invigorate X2=200hp and BWX3=240hp... therefor yes bind wounds is more effective, but using invigorate saves money in the long run. and at 1pp per stack of bandages (with 120 charisma) bandages can add up to be quite a lot... i know myself personally at level 55 have bought well over 2000 stacks of bandages, i tend to solo a lot because i've found most people dont know how to play their class... and as you Soop have demonstrated you dont know the monk class very well, i dont blame you since you're a warrior, but you should however know bind wound 201+, you should have researched it being a warrior. it does not as you were informed heal 85hp, it heals 80hp and takes 10 seconds to use. thats an extra 8hp per second... now, i thank the lord you're not on my server, because if i ever met you in-game i'd have to bang my head on a wall. i'm sorry to be rude Soop, but its people like you who misinform people of items (that your class cant even use) that really **** me off. NOW FOR ALL THOSE OUT THERE. THE EFFECT ON THIS BP HEALS 100HP FOR 15 SECONDS OF CAST TIME WITH INSTANT RE-CAST, BUT IT IS FREE OF CHARGE. Now, as a monk myself, the extra time it takes to heal using this would not outweigh the cost of it... i would much rather never buy bandages again and save room for extra loot in my 100%WR bags then have to buy bandages just to heal a little faster.

P.S. at 51+ if you want to save money (hard to come by a a monk) you will be wise and use the effect a lot, and it is MUCH better then the RoTLC, the RoTLC is 15ac 5str 5dex 5agi 5sta +50hp NO SAVES... and DO count the effect in judging this BP. this BP has better ac, 8 more str, 1 less sta (max of 8hp at level 65 with maxed AA for hp affecting abilities) 8 more agi (quite a few AC by level 65) 1 less dex (makes absolutly no difference) and 10 more hp... so all in all, you gain strength (attack), AC, HP, and Saves, and a free costless heal... i'd DEFINITLY go for this over RoTLC... BTW RoTLC=Robe of The Lost Circle.

for your information Soop, study your information a bit better before posting.

Just another thought....Since you are so godly in your knowledge, oh mighty Dragonfinder/Unleashed, before you started your rant about how the guy was wrong in all his info, and that he didn't know what he was talking about because he couldn't even use the item, you MIGHT want to look at the signature, smart guy. says plain as day, FIFTY-FOUR monk in addition to the 49 warrior that you only saw, in all your wisdom. I agree that BW is, in fact, slightly better than this robe, but the slots for the bandages could be better used for loot, if using a WR bag, as all monks should, and using the robe for heals, in addition to mend of course. Just wanted to point that out, since you seemed to want to flame, and not willing to look at all information entailed in the person's post that you were talking trash about. So perhaps you should study YOUR information better before you post.

Don't know if you thought of this, Oh great and powerful "Baron", but he might have the extra bind wound AA on his monk. Just a thought, right out of the blue...
RE: dont judge by the effect here
# Aug 12 2003 at 8:51 AM Rating: Default
Nice thoughts, although inaccurate. The only AAs effecting bind wounds for monk is First Aid. This only add 10% to max heal you can do with bandages.

So for a monk with AA's and max skill, it's 80hp, 10sec bind, up to 100% health.

There's no haste to bind wound, and there's no AA to increase the 80hp limit.

one of two monks with this? I don't think so... I've seen at least 10 different monks in KC soloing and using this to heal themselves after battles.... and I have no doubt that there are many more elsewhere... how could you know that you are only one of two anyway? as far as I know, other than stats officially released by verant (sony now I guess), there is no way to find that information out... correct me if I'm wrong, I'd be very interested in finding out how many if X item there are in the game myself
I think it's nice enough..

i agree it would nice to see a monk item with decent AC, but remember, monks get the equivelent of an AC bonus for agility, so the +agi makes it worth while, also the effect is an HP heal, just click on the link "invigorate" in the item description, dont know why theres any question, its pretty obvious?
# Jul 18 2002 at 4:14 PM Rating: Default
I agree. Of course monks are considered tanks, but geez! 16ac?!? Thats 31 less ac than Thur warr bp...and 26 less than paly. I am a paly, so it doesn't affect me, but there are tons of things that monks can get besides this that will at least match ac, and it would be alot easier to get them....

Does anyone else notice the fact that most monk quests are very diappointing? I mean the druid quest in the same zone has more AC than a monk's. I know monk's aren't true tanks but it seems rediculous that the Thurgadin quest armor is pretty pathetic. They have new quests at lvl 8 that has one less AC than this. Sure it has stats but a LVL 45 quest has 1 measly point better AC than a LVL 8! That's pathetic in so many ways. Just my opinion! Although i know someone will have a problem with it =).

I'm pretty positive that Invigorate is simply a stamina regen spell, the same that shaman get. As I do not have this item I can not be sure, but I can't see why they would call the effect Invigorate if that is not what it actually does. I would say that the best way to end this debate is to do a search on the spell Invigorate on this website, and to actually ask someone who has this item what it does. Even if it simply regen's stamina, it is still a rather good item.
RE: Effect
# May 25 2002 at 12:58 PM Rating: Default
Invigorate = 90-100hp heal
Invigor = Stamina boost

If ppl would take the time to research things, or just READ the below posts, as stated millions of times, Invigorate and Invigor are 2 different spells.
(And I do agree with a poster below. The people posting wrong information are the people that DON'T have the item.)

Now is invigor act as a heal or is it just a hp boost. I mean cna i click on it over and over to heal myself. and can you cast it while FD?
RE: effect question
# May 19 2002 at 12:30 AM Rating: Default
The effect is clickable, Not while fd though. It does a 90hp heal that takes a while to recycle... the Post about it having nothing to do with can tell he dosnt have this item.
RE: effect question
# May 18 2002 at 10:18 AM Rating: Default
Invigor is the same as the Shaman line of spells
that will restore Stamina.
It has nothing to do with hit points.
RE: effect question
# Aug 28 2002 at 2:07 PM Rating: Default
True, invigor, or zing as it's affectionately known as, is a low level spell for many caster classes, shaman and cleric to name two. However, this item has invigorate, which is a heal spell. Unfortunately the name is confusing, but the effect is very cool. 100pts will heal even a high level monk in short order, depending on the recycle time on this item.

Note I do not have this item (though I have the druid version which uses the same eroded leather tunic). All in all, I would say the monk got the better shake on this given the heal potential for a melee class. Now if it only had SOW too for us slow-as-dirt iksar monks. =)

If i had this tunic and a fungi which one should i use?
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 09 2002 at 1:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd take this over a fungi any day. At the level your usually supposed to get this, or the fungi for that matter, you will be with groups that have shamans or druids that can cast regrowth. So you can have the regen without the negative stats of the fungi and the +13 agi will bring the ac of this up to equal or more than the fungi.
RE: This or Fungi?
# Jan 09 2002 at 7:12 AM Rating: Default
I personally would probably wear the fungi while fighting and this just to heal afterwards (no more bandages, wewt!). But then again I don't even have one, so I guess you would really just have to experiement and see what actually works best (IE: If you can land more hits, hit harder, etc. Then I would probably where this all the time, unless I got a serious beating, dotted, and was fd'd I would switch to fungi to regen better). And about the whole AC thing. AC is actually pretty important, especially, being a monk, your most likely going to pull a lot at the end of the game. Most will say it doesn't matter how much AC you have the mobs will hit you real hard. That is true to an extent, but in my personal opinion, having 1300 AC compared to say 1100 AC will help A LOT.

RE: omg your fucking dumb
# Dec 03 2001 at 4:29 PM Rating: Default
Ac is not important... To a monk that does not solo. If you wish to be bound to groups all your life then go for stats over ac... just pray you never get beat on, or have to pull. I have lower stats than most monks I know, but I have ac848 hp1200+ ( dont know exact number ) and have solo'ed exclusively from level 1 to 43, and will do just fine soloing all the way to 60. I have tried to do the str/stat thing, and it doesnt work, I get my butt beat down and cant hang. You know why monks wear ROTLF? Cause it is expensive and they can flaunt it. I wear a CCS, and am shortly gonna replace it for a ROTLC, because it has more ac/hp as well as stats. I was told when I was a very young monk, AC and HP are more important to a monk than anything, followed closely by resists and stats should follow last. This has worked for me, and I have succesfully gone through all 43 levels, only ever dieing on guild raids or because of my mistakes. You should really reconsider if you do not think AC is not important, or stay stuck in groups all your life.

ok you are stupid. i agree that stats are not important at all. HP first, AC second, then STM which is just more HPs. But to say people that wear a fungi are just showing off is just the dumbest thing ive read out of all of these boards. Wear a fungi tunic for like 10 minutes. Especially since you solo so much, a fungi is just incredible.

Ok guys i am a level 52 monk, around 50+ is when you can realistically start getting this armor, now granite the Kael armor has more ac.. look at the ac and stats, to be all out totally honest its total garbage!! i seriously wont wear this crap, but i will get the legs tunic and boots.. ONLY for the procs i'll leave them in inventory not on.. Reason being, is because aside form it being total garbage at my level items equivalent to warriro ac + is easily obtained for example my helm (kobald jesters crown 15ac 0.0 wt + stats) vs the grand masters headband 6ac?! you do the math! and the tunic here for example? yes oh its nice.. to a NEWBIE get the proc out of your head lets look at stats, a phase spider carapase is 28ac and NICE STATS and its 100x easier to get.. the leggings 6ac? you think thats good?!? i have 14ac leggings.. Kromrif military leggings took me 1 day to get 14ac 6str 5wis.. sure there 4.0 wt.. i am level 52! i have 18.0 wt limit.. we can manage a few heavier items.. i am 52 with 1012ac i know monks lvl 58 who wear this crap and they have 1002ac or less.. my arms.. azure slees 12ac.. no stats no weight really.. good ac vs this stuff.. anyhow.. on one get pissed this is my opinion.. i like the procs of the tunic, legs and boots i will get those peices for the procs i wont wear i already have better.. but i say to you. Why work SOOO hard to get something quested that in 1/4th the time you can get better and 3x more of it.. think about it.. the tunic 16ac and you need 3 FLAWLESS Diamonds (they go for about 10k each) if you buy.. No wonder why so many people go kael faction.. which btw is garbage too i am talking about all velius quest armor.. its not that good.. i'm going to spend my time leveling, and raiding places worth raiding.. like Dragon Necropolis.. this is my 2 bits

Some serious advice: Stop playing everquest and wasting valuable bandwidth, because you obviously have no clue what you're doing. You probably power levelled your monk to 60 because your chanter saw some high level monk and you were like "ooooh, he's cool, i want one!". Or better yet, you probably just payed a thou for the character on some auction site. Want proof? YOU'RE A MONK IDIOT!!!! AC ISN'T YOUR GOAL!!! If you want to compare yourself to warriors, GO BE ONE! You talk about people 6 levels higher than you with less ac? they probably have agi/dex/sta/str at least twice yours, moron. That's what monks do. They hit often, they hit hard, and they sidestep attacks. It doesn't matter what your ac is when the mob is concentrating on some iron-clad warrior, which, by the way, is the point of having a warrior aka meatbag. Your natural ac + some minor help from your equipment + some real nice agility should be more than enough AC to provide for any high level master. So like i said earlier, go back to playing your chanter, or just close your account completly, you worthless waste of monk space. That's my 2 bits
RE: This is GARBAGE!
# Jun 03 2002 at 7:15 PM Rating: Decent

Your post sucks and so does eveyone here who agrees with you. It's pathetic and you must either be a monk twink yourself or dont even play a monk. My guess is you have never played a monk in your life.

First off, you discuss monk's as dammage dealers. This is true, but they are also pullers. No where do you mention this in your post and pulling is what differentiates a monk from other clases. If you want to be just a dammage dealer may I suggest creating a rogue? They are much better at it.

The only people who should get hit during a large raid are warriors and, drum roll please..., pulling MONKS! FD failes (If you have ever pulled you know that it does) and you are surrounded by several giants in the kael arena do you need AC? Hell yes! Do you need AC in Hate when you are clearing organ hall and FD fails? You better or the Maestro will own you in a heart beat. I won't even mention ToV.

The three most important attributes for a pulling monk are resists, hps and AC. Regen is very valuable and so is haste when you do dammage. Rest really dont matter all that much.

The original poster who said thurg armor for monks is garbage is essentially correct. It's garbage. The only velious gear that MIGHT be any good are the legs and bp from the Kael quests or optionally the SS. One bracer for summoning throwing stars is nice to. I just would never wear them.

I have pulled the arena for at least 100+ hours if not more. Last week i passed on the leather bp when it dropped even though the guild would have awarded it to me (I have passed on a lot more thurg junk then that). In my opinion, it's not worth the diamonds it takes to finish the quest.

The ironic thing is many people downgraded the original poster to awefull. Now I have an idea why monks are getting a bad name. Based on some of the posts on this thread I would say it's because they don't know how to pull. That or non monks are reading this post and commenting on things they don't have a clue about.

In summary, please play a monk as its meant to be played before flaming someone who does and makes very good comments and/or suggestions.

My two bits.

RE: This is GARBAGE!
# Oct 17 2001 at 7:42 PM Rating: Default
Hmmm... AC for monks not important... are yall straight stupid, seriously though monks need ac alot, ever heard of pullin all that strength is not gonna help for that. I live much longer with higher AC then strength, AC is king for monks... unless your like level 10. Oh and bout that Living FUngus robe of CCS thats for a few reasons... Sacrificing 2ac for lots of stamina is a good deal, also it weighs less and looks hella cooler.
(if ac wasnt king then why would high level monks wear a 40ac 20dex tunic over a 23ac 15str tunic, cause we all know dex does nothing)

I also have my epics, so im no n00b monk come look me up

I have to agree with everblend. I have a monk and have been playing a long time. After much research and consideration as well as firsthand grouping with and playing as monks, i have decided that Kikntiger is full of *********

Your stats are what keep you alive whether you want to believe it or not. Str affects how hard you kick and how often you max your damage, yeah thats right, its not just to see how much **** you can carry (not that monks should be seen carrying ****). Dex helps procs and learning combat skills. Agi ads some AC but I PERSONALLY believe that it aids with evaisive skills. Sta gives you some HP but isnt all that important (unless I am missing something :P)

The ONLY reason you would need AC is if you are attempting soloing adventures or, if for some strange reason you are the main tank (no monk should have to be reduced to such a level but with a few well placed buffs and a low weight allowance they can do it)

These are just my personal findings and I may be all wet, but I prefer to think that YOU are my friend, and yes since my signature says main ATM IS a necro...doesnt mean I dont know **** :)

As always its a matter of style. I still enjoy looking for solo opportunities at 52(we ARE called monks after all :)), yet even in groups ac is quite helpful. Not being uber, i am not on nightly raids to the planes or ToV, where resists are crucial. Many of my pulls even in guild raids involve a fair share of poundation, and i am always glad if fd fails and my ac saves me during recycle. Sure saves the buffers and clerics undo mana. Again tho its all choice. If you seldom pull and dont aggro much, and rarely solo, stats are great. I guess i must have a few levels to go to meet those monks :).

As often as I tank or solo or Have to pull I would much rather have the AC. The only time i would go for Strength over ac is on a big raid, but even then i would prob go for saves. I have PSC, Thurg Tunic, and Fungi depending on the situation. The AC on the PSC is great for groups where i tank. The thurg tunic is good for raids, and fungi for soloing, But if it comes down to it AC is more important. Your main job is to pull usually. You are supposed to do damage also but you cant do that if your dead. Go ask a 60 monk on your server if AC or Str is more important and the answer is obvious. I would gladly give up 7str for 12ac from this tunic to PSC. If you wanna argue i think its fun, just reply so i can prove ya wrong.

The other day, in Kael at the Arena, I got my Eroded Leather Tunic. AS far as we know it is the only one on the server. Now all I need is 3 flawless diamonds and I'll have the first Grandmaster Chestwraps. =)

Um, ya, suuuuure. Do you really think that a L45 monk would have the only one of anything on your entire server? I have one and need the diamonds. One other monk is needing the diamonds also.
