Quest Mob Location
# Jan 31 2003 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
Just a bit of info about the location of the NPC that gives KD cleric armor quests. He is located behind the throne room where the King spawns. If your KoS with Rif and Tormax faction, invis and huge the left wall in the throne room until you get to the door directly behind thrown. The NPC is the first on the left of the backroom throne. Hail him and if you are ally, he will ask you if you are a cleric. Say yes and turn your stuff in. Watchout for the Giant under the ice bridge leading to the throne room. If he has wandered near the bridge he will aggro on you if you are KoS to the other 2 KD factions. Divine Aura and run for the WL zone line. If you have sow, you can easily out run him and his wolf pets. He hits in the 250's x3.

Giant Faction
# Mar 27 2002 at 9:56 AM Rating: Decent
Could someone give me a breakdown on how to build Giant faction? I have heard several different tactics but at this point none are really making that much sense to me. Anything anyone could tell me would be a great help, Thanks...
RE: Giant Faction
# Aug 27 2002 at 1:26 AM Rating: Excellent
The easiest way to raise that giant faction without doing any harm to your dorf faction is simple.
Attend as many WToV raids as possible, do as many Skyshrine faction camps with friends as you can, get in Western Waste scar dragon runs whenever you can.
If you're not a damage dealer (aka cleric) make sure you get a hit on every single pull.. run up and smack it on the nose, cast a stun a little bit into the pull, whatever it takes.
As far as non-raiding go to Skyshrine. You can at the very least do the entry mobs and if you get a solid group or 2 you can venture deeper in.

Keep this up and depending on your giant faction when you start (mine was terrible, way too many trips to Kael in the younger days) you should get ally in 2 weeks max.

Effect
# Nov 06 2001 at 3:54 PM Rating: Excellent
The effect is nice but it gets resisted easy, by planar mobs at least. It removes the damage shield the target might have and replaces it with a healing shield so that everytimes a melee type hit the target they get healed for 6 hp. Don´t know how easy this gets resisted as effect, might be different from the pure spell.

NOTE: the donals BP still casts CH but when casted on you, you get a shield buff icon wich remains in your buff pool for 7 minutess and 30 seconds. When this dummy buff fades the cleric can recast ( reclick if you like) CH on the tank.

The 1 60 tank 1 cleric tactic would be kinda with the Velious mobs dishing out incredible dmg. Look at the Vindicator or other high lvl Kael mobs who can quadhit for 700, that´s 2800 hp per hit and he hits fast.
Effect
# Aug 11 2001 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
The effect on this is pretty neat-o, but kinda crappy at the lvl you need to get it :-/

Effect Details: This spell causes the Target to be encased in a Healing Damage Sheild. Everytime someone attacks the Target of this spell, the attacker will be healed for 6 points of damage.

Oh well...

Not crappy I think, the spell Mark of Karn can be hard to get sometimes and rare, plus this opens a slot for you spell slots.
Wondering about blacksmithing
# Jun 01 2001 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
Just a very simple thought, has Verant giving any thought to allowing the skill Blacksmithing to take on its own spell effect's in conglamoration with that of an Enchanter .. I seem to see a blacksmith at a forge ,accompanied by a spell caster to imbue his will apon the item beeing made.. well just food for thought , because it might lower the amount of people camping the same spawn.

Do you think they will make better armor in the new expansion pack and what do you think the stats may be?
Re: Easy to Get
# Apr 21 2001 at 2:12 PM Rating: Default
Have been killing in TOV for a while, haven't seen a single Cleric BP dropped yet. (
BP is rare and Cleric one is just rarest among the rare....next is the chanter one.

Errr...I think you are terribly, terribly confused. The Breastplate Component drops in ToV, not the Breastplate itself. We got one last night. It is not a matter of a Cleric BP component dropping as it is a matter of a Plate Class component dropping (as opposed to chain, leather, and silk).

Velious BP Differences
# Feb 27 2001 at 5:16 AM Rating: Good
If you look closely at all the Velious Breastplates ie Quest and Growth they are just playing with the numbers and juggling them around all add the same stat bonus's for Str, Sta and Wis
were they change is AC, HP, Mana and the saves.
For example:
The Dwarvern BP give more mana 80 instead of 70
it gives less HP 30 instead of 40 but its gives much higher save values. I do see however that the dwarvern BP is missing the poison sv bonus is this a mistake by verant or intended?

In comparision the Growth BP gives More HP 50 instead of 40 but the same amount of SV bonus's just in another order.

I think all in all people are going to want the higher AC thats on the BP but there is also a roleplaying aspect to the game not just uber loots. But if the Skyshrine armour follows this trend then I predict that it will have an AC value of around 46 give +5 str +7 sta +13 wis +60 HP +50 mana +4 fire +3 Dis +3 Cold +7 magic +4 Poison or something like that.
Actually
# Jul 12 2001 at 8:08 PM Rating: Excellent
ALL velious armor shares differences based on location.

Kael has the best AC (So tanks like it)
Skyshrine has the best Resists (Monks and castors favor this)
Turgadin armor is easier to get (Less faction work, lower level mobs to kill), but is considered the weakest.

Hope this clears it up for you
RE: Velious BP Differences
# Mar 01 2001 at 3:56 PM Rating: Default
The Bard Thuragin, PoG, and Dragon BPs have been found, and they are equal AC (42), with the stats juggled around a little bit. The Kael Bard BP hasn't been found, but now seeing the Cleric BP, I'm pretty sure its going to be the same juggled stats, and 44 AC. Giant armor is the way to go.
RE: Velious BP Differences
# Feb 27 2001 at 12:08 PM Rating: Default
The dragon quest armor has lower stats than the giant quest armor, just FYI.

Wood Elf Cleric

Can wood elves be clerics?
If not, then the stat is unnecessary.

They nerfed the CH from Donnal's Breastplate and now come up with this new bad boy of a BP(Kael quests beats the shizznit off of planar armor. No one else finds that... wrong?).

Expect this 'plate to get nerfed, expect people to complain loudly, expect Verant to never learn.

# Feb 26 2001 at 10:50 PM Rating: Decent
The difficulty of the Kael quests (having to go kill stuff in Veeshans Temple and pray it drops the armor you need) and kill tons of other high level creatures to get the gems you need is WAY harder than going to Hate (if you are talking about EM) or Growth (if you are talking about the Velious planar armor) Its not like this quest is easier.

And comparing it to the CH on the Donals BP just doesnt even make sense. This heals around 1500 hps, which is still a lot, but Donals BP heals *completely* You could take out any MOB in the game with just a cleric and a tank, as long as the tank didnt die in 30 seconds. And even then, if you had 2 clerics you could just have them alternate at the right time, and you would only have to live 15 sec before dying...

However, didn't they nerf the effect on the Donal's BP so that you couldn't cast it's CH on the same target until a 7.5 minute placeholder buff wore off, simply to prevent that very same cleric/tank/30sec exploit? Or is that yet to be implemented?
RE: Had to say it.
# Feb 27 2001 at 10:31 AM Rating: Default
Dude, Donals BP got nerfed, can't recast on same player until a period of like 7.5 minutes have pasted. I've see people take out the big turtle in iceclad with 2 people...60 warrior and a cleric with a Dons, but that isnt happening anymore.

If you haven't noticed clerics have been getting nerfed up the butt. All of our BP effext have been nerfed...even this quest ones.
RE: Had to say it.
# Apr 11 2001 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Personally, I understand perfectly why the Donal's BP was nerfed. My beef with Verant is not about that specifically. I just think they're stupid for releasing all these Cleric BP's without putting much thought into what can be done with them. C'mon...a BP that clickies for CH?!?! You can't tell me you thought they'd let that stay in...
What Verant REALLY needs to do is put some DEEP thought into what they do to keep the classes balanced. They keep putting things in that make one class too powerful solo, or too powerful in a particular situation (Like the Cleric and Tank taking out that turtle).
I am not upset with them for nerfing our armor, I am upset with them for ALLOWING it in the game to begin with when any reasonably intelligent person can see that it will eventually HAVE TO BE nerfed.

Just my 2cp there...

I don't actually see anything wrong with this stuff being as good as, or better than the planar armor. These are not easy quests. Near as I can tell, you have to kill a lot of 50+ mobs to get the items you need. Same as in the plane of fear.
RE: Had to say it.
# Feb 26 2001 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
Heh, cept the mobs you need to kill here are all at LEAST as hard as Von in Western Wastes. You can probably all relate more to Vox or Naggy, but consider the mobs being the difficulty of Vox/Naggy when you are level 50 of the mobs you have to fight when you are level 60. Tough mobs, nice reward.
