okay i don't understand why somebody would want to pay 40k for this ... 20% slow on a 1hs isn't too great being as the ToD is 50% slow and then throw in 2 better 1hs' ... sorry but 20% slow with a 200dot (over 1 min) isn't that great. i'll take a ToD at 4kpp over this any day of the week

This is a no brainer IMHO. Both can be had with about the same level groups, but the price is certainy different. My warrior would use this over Defiance any day of the week. See i have this thing for wanting taunt. And having another weapon that procs damage and a slow to boot to go along with my other weapon that procs 85dd in the off hand my warrior wont loose taunt to often :)

Sorry, but some people might actually buy into some of these accusations that rangers are some pansy class, so i am forced to add in my 2cp to this as well... I've been toiling the last few lvls away in the Velks spider camps, would be 55 by now if not for going for a little head start on my AA points. Using a Crystalline SS and a JBoM (12/24 and 13/25) with silver chitin handwraps, its not a hard thing to take taunt away from a warrior, especially one that isn't proc'ing anything, when i have Call of Sky (35dd+stun) going off every 7-10 seconds (136 dex). Jolt gets resisted about 1 in 8 casts, and almost never resisted if the mob is tashed, and unless the warrior is just awful, 1 jolt is plenty to keep aggro off of me thru the rest of the fight, and if it's not, jolt only costs 60mana, and has a tiny cast time.

Defiance is not even close to the Wavecrasher. I've used both and although defiance is nice it's simply not in the same league as the WC. Same ratio, similar stats but the proc on the Wavecrasher sets it apart.
Breath of the sea a simply amazing and if you like to solo it's a lifesaver.

Id rather get some weapon that does DD insted of Dot, sure the 20% slow is nice, but figure this out, more then likely the mob will be dead in 60 sec, and if its a boss, or mini boss, sure they would last longer. But, with mobs like that you got a chanter or shammy doing there job casting slow. The ac is ok and the agi buff is ok. But not worth no 45k. not worth 20k, at most 9k. Whats so hot about this weapon besides the name? Nothing..

This weapon has to be one of the more Uber taunt weapons out there for warriors. Using this weapon in your primary hand along with a frostbringer ( if you dont have epic,Primal,SoD.. etc. ) is a great way to get taunt and keep it. I can taunt off a lvl 60 warrior after Defensive is down on Velkator, Vindi or any other hard hitting "ubermob" very easilly. Hit me with FOS and or Avatar and this thing proc's insanely and with each proc builds more and more agro. It also tends to agro even if the proc is resisted or cannot overwrite shaman/enchanter/ranger slow.
This weapon is well worth the price tag on it just for that reason. As for the 50 ranger.. lol you dont need taunt dood.. probably not your bag of tea to get bounced on for 800 a pop from higher end mobs.. so ya.. you are right.. for you.. probably not the best idea. But Just to slow a mob isnt what this weapon was designed for. =)

The reason this is so expensive is that it's not a very farmed weapon. The only time anyone goes to the area this drops is to collect BP gems...and the mob it drops off of is almost as difficult as a HoT mob (AE and hits pretty hard). In my experience gem humting is done with 1 group...and the focus is gems, so they don't even tackle the placeholders for the mob that drops this. In all my time holding one I have never seen another and I have never seen it sold.
Another reason it is expensive is because of the insane taunt the proc does. This and a Frostbringer is equal to or rivals epic taunt. If you want one, I would suggest taking a group down to the well area in SG.....you most likely will not find one being sold.

A Defiance is far and away better than this. The only perk of this is the proc...which we Ranger's can do on our own with one cast of our weakest DOT (Stinging Swarm, 200DOT) The stats blast this thing apart and a proc would just get more agro on you anyway...which Ranger's do not need. If this was a warrior wanting to trade I would say "Good deal, ya can't cast so this would make up for it." But a Ranger? Show a little respect for your class man and stick with what ya have =)

ROFL stupid ranger.. like a Defiance should be better then this.. LOL Defiance have more WT and that will drag stamina down.. Defiance have the same ratio... BUT Defiance DONT have a slow effect on it..... so get real dumb ranger!

I have what is likely a stupid question, but am looking for knowledge from those more EQ wise than I. Is this effect stackable with itself? If its proc delay is 15 seconds and its effect length is 1 minute, could it theoretically be case 4 times within that minute? Or, alternatively, does this mean that it will attempt to proc only every 15 seconds (minimum) and will not proc while the effect from a previous proc is still in effect? Thanks for shedding any light you can.

A friend of mine bought one of this bad boys on Tunare server for 20k, a hk earlier in the day was trying to get my fungi tunic(20-25k) and idol of the thorned(13-14k) for this glad I didn't take it :B
The fact that it doesn't stack with enc and shammy slows means that it's not gonna do any good in groups other than massive aggro which IS good if you're a warrior, but yes I've seen it proc at lvl 1, which means that this is AMAZING for soloing to 50+ for any class...

This weapon procs at lvl 30......pretty nice indeed...Im debating wether to trade an Scimitar of the Emerald Dawn for this....I do so much like the saves on Scimmy....but this with Lammy would keep the mob on me where it belongs....dunno yet...any suggestions?

You are mistaken, this weapon procs well below level 30. I have never bothered to see if it will work on a level 1 but as of today I have had it proc with my level 7 bard.

Got this last night off a named Watery servant at the siren temple where the named level 60 Priestess spawns..
The name of the mob was something like "a shimmering sea serpent" or something, it was the look of the watery servant mob aka water elemental and was guarding the gate to the temple.
THe mob was up when we got there along with the level 60 siren, we were there 5 hours after and neither spawned again.
You can see the sword in the mobs hand if it drops it, it might have it everytime not sure..

By the time one is able to achieve rights to wielding this weapon. Stamina should be over 100.
For those who are not familiar, once stamina is past 100 you suffer no penalties to agility/str/attack speed.
Only thing this will do is keep you from jumping.

Wavecrasher slow does not stack with the chanter line. It won't overwrite chanter slows, and chanter slows (both a Forlorn Deeds from a 58 ench and a Shiftless deeds from a 60 ench) were able to overwrite the apparently inferior wavecrasher slow.

proc was changed to MR based, does stick on some nearly un-slowable mobs. Looking for one on SolRo.

Sadly , he probably isn't lying. I have seen rogue , bards , rangers and sk's in full suits of kunark class armor in the level 5-30 range. Apparantly the large guilds sell them off after there members get the Velious quest stuff.

Dont wanna rain on anyones parade, but this sob's are lore, that means you cant have two, and primary only, so you cant have one in secondary. I think they are great weapons and all, but you just can do that...

Its interesting that hed wield two seeing as they are lore.
It's equally as interestinging seeing as they are not only Lore ect but they are also primary only. My level 1 rogue is also wearing 8 cloaks of flame at the same time.

i agree, the weapon isn't that heavy anyway, 4.5 is not very much, annoying but not enough to make the weapon a poor choice

I saw this weapon drop last night off a named otter i believe inside sirens grotto. Ranger snagged it of all people, considering they already get this line of spells it just seems so much a noncasting tank weapon. yes it looks like a modified visceral dagger, the necro quest item, but it is not exact, it does have changes. Its proc is a 200dot, 20% snare, tested on me, a 55 warrior, and confirmed. VERY nice weapon. stats are good enough for anyone 50+ to use. snare for a tank who cannot cast is a great help soloing with a fungi tunic regen or "other" means. In my opinion the classes most useful for this weapon are warriors and rogues, but i can see paladins with a worthy argument, nice weapon, another nice SG drop....

The only nerf is the proc. It went from unresistable to nearly unresistable. I've gotten ethe proc to stick easily to krups or ilis frogloks in Sebilis, so it's not that bad a nerf.
