The armor is now a days only good for skill ups & twinks, but also has the nice added bonus of great tribute value, 4800 tribute points per tunic to be exact.

Wish they had a tribute value section on alla.

Tegerdar Radreget .....

Awesome post and great info BUT .. Coldain Velium Temper IS brewable and their IS a recipe for it. Coldain heater and 4 CE's = Coldain temper and far cheaper to make then to pay 30p in Thurg.
GOT EM!

WooHoo!!!

The 200 skill tailor i had do my combines for me was succesful on 2 out of 4 tries, once for tunic, and once for legs, so now i have some VERY nice looking runnin-around armor =)...On the downside, the tailor also did over 40 of his own combines on the same type of armor, and failed every time. It was by sheer providence that it worked out for me. I will be sending in pictures of the bp and legs on a DE, barbie, and iksar. Looks excellent.
Drools...

Well, due to the help of two very dedicated and helpful friends, it looks like i might end up with a piece or two of this excellent-looking armor...collecting all the pieces, and working some of my tradeskills up was a nice break from lvling and raiding. Anyway, i had collected enough of everything except the actual skins for about 7-10 tries at this stuff, i even found a high lvl tailor who will do the combines, so last night i got a druid and ranger friend to come along to WL with me. In about 6 hours, 4 skins had dropped, along with three eyes, and i was lucky enough to have found a person in zone trading 2 skins for each eye, so i ended up with ten. now i just gotta hand it all over to my tailor and hope for the best. Gonna go for the tunic and cloak first, great pieces...wish it all had better ac, but oh well...i had a blast doing it no matter what.

Many many thanks to Danuvene(*hugs*) and Ebonwolf.
Many thanks also to Deepellem for the spare yew leaves.

what exactly does this armor look like on a Darkelf? I'm hoping it's not some funky bright color... if anyone knows, would appreciate the info

It's a dark-blue tinted version of the Velious Leathers texture. Here's a link to a picture of it on a DE female from the EQTraders site:

RE: Full suit
# Oct 15 2001 at 6:52 AM Rating: Good
Hahah, sorry buddy but cheap is not a word that goes in the same sentence with any of the velious tailored armours. A full suit of this is literally priceless; the number of zero's on the end of a digit that'd tempt a tailor who's rich enough to make this stuff is boggling.

Secondly, very few people will just make this and keep it in the bank on the off chance someone wants to buy it. Your best bet is to go around collecting the pieces required (start LIVING in WL for the next couple of months, that's the only way it'll happen), collect enough components for at least 2-3 attempts on EACH piece, then find out who the highest-level tailor is on your server and hand it over. The odds of you getting a full suit is, regretfully, bugger all... but hopefully you'll end up with at least the majority of pieces of this incredibly nice armour.

Thirdly, if you want people to actually respond to you, post your server =) tends to help.

To make this you will need:

1)Haze panthers - wander in Wakening Lands, and are generally invisible. They are a rarer spawn than normal panters, they randomly drop pelts and eyes (for tinkering). They are agro, as are many other things in this zone. Anyone trying to track theseshould have see invis.
2)Yew leaf tannin - yew leaf, flask water (Brewing skill 68) Where to get Yew Leaves - ground spawn in Wakening Lands
3)Velium boning - small brick of velium, file, coldain velium temper (Blacksmithing skill 80)
Attention you can only buy coldain velium temper it cant mot be brewed. Where to buy - is only purchased in Thurgadin (near the mines) at this time. It is NOT brewed by players, there is no recipe for it. Cost per temper is around 30pp

These recipes MUST be combined in the Coldain Tanners Kit

Tailoring - Velium Leathers (trivial on all pieces >250)
Which means even if you have a high ungodly high lev in tailoring you fail alot so the cost on these could range from 840pp(tunic)to tons of k just depending on how many times you fail.

Velious trivials ar not known yet, there is a 75% fail rate on the velious taliored items with a skill of 115 but it is the only known way to raise skill.

Uhm, actually at a skill of 115 you have about a 1-5% chance of succeeding on the easiest pieces of velious leathers.

Allegedly, the skill required for any of the velium stuff is around 200 for trivials, though it's possible, albiet costly, to try it as soon as 115.

Have a tailor friend on Luclin and this stuuf still isnt trivial at 200+
Well, damn . . .
# Feb 28 2001 at 4:46 PM Rating: Default
I agree. Costly is the word.
But unless you're a Wood Elf or a Havling then 115 is where you cap in skill, because there are no recipes outside velious to raise it.
That stinks, thanks again dev team . . .

Just like to say these items look SWEET! I can not wait to dress my rogue in them. Please post any information you find about the appropriate recipe, items and such. Thanks!

UPDATE: most items require these items:
Yew Leaf Tannin (?) + Haze Panther Skin + pattern + Velium Boning = item

Now, where do we get these items and how do you make Velium Boning?
RE: Sweet
# Feb 27 2001 at 6:42 AM Rating: Excellent
Yew leaf tanin is brewed from yew leaves, ground spawns in wakening lands.

Haze panthers are invisible level 45 mobs also in WL, they drop pelt, semi rare I think.

Velium boning are made like regular bonings, but using velium ore and temper. Velium ore drops a various dungeons in vel.

Monks' Black Pantherskin Tunic sucks hard in relation to the Rogue's tailored armor.

Net result wise- The Rogue tunic is better than Monks' Robe of the Lost Circle by ALOT, fer gawd's sake.

It would be good if Verant would re-evaluate all the tailored armor, and bring it all more in line with what Rogues have been graced with.

I think Rogues' Haze Panther stuff needs a wee bit more AC to justify the time and effort involved in making it, but overall the stats are better than God Loot <g>

Velium studs / boning?
# Feb 24 2001 at 8:15 AM Rating: Default
Does anyone know how to make velium studs / boning (i assume they are made, at least) I tried making velium bits by combining 2 stackable velium pieces and a flask and it said items do not combine blah blah.... I can't seem to find the recipes anywhere. Any help is much appreciated.
RE: Velium studs / boning?

Velium Studs are made by first making velium bits, 2 small pieces of velium ore (not stacked) and a velium temper (purchased) to make velium bits, then 3 bits (not stacked), a velium temper, and a file to make 2 velium studs. Approximate cost is around 52pp/stud. Velium Bonings take one small brick of velium, one velium temper, and a file, makes one. Approximate cost is 26pp. This is provided you loot your own ore. The best place for it seems to be Crystal Caves off of orcs. Hope this helps!

RE: Price? A LOT!

WOW this is going to go for a lot of kpp, the stats look awesome, now if the graphic is just plain leather, might lower the price a bit, but hey some ppl wear treeweaves :)

Not the plain leather look, it's a very dark blue with a ornate design.

Killer stats and a unique look, combined with insane difficulty, I'd say around 8k+. Now, if only I could get some Yew Leaves...
RE: Price? A LOT!
# Feb 25 2001 at 2:15 PM Rating: Good
I just thought i'd mention that I've found yew leaves strewn about the ground in Wakening Lands... just lying on the ground. They are a tad more green the the ground, so if you get reasonably close to one, you'll see it... still, I'd like to know how to make the yew tannin.
RE: Price? A LOT!

Greetings. I know of a site that has the recipe for the yew leaf tannin and the recipe to make all of the haze panther gear. Go to www.eqtraders.com they have a ton of info on all the tradeskills.
