A full set wouldn't be THAT heavy. Besides, you don't have to go to a plane and hope you win just a piece of uber armor that isn't too much better. Looks cool as well.
Ok, so the Black Pantherskin would come off the Panthers in Wakening Lands. So where does the Yew leaf Tannin come from? Im assuming the pattern is bought in either Kael or Thurgadin and there was a post aleady about making the Boning's. Any further info would be appreciated. Thanks
Yew leaves are ground spawns in Wakening Lands. They look like small green rectangles and blend in with the ground very well (not to mention that they are two-dimensional shapes, so you won't see them well from the side). If you have any evergreen leaves, misty acorns, or oak bark, these have the same appearance. They are a pain to find; I've had the best luck in the northeast corner by the sifayes and running along a diagonal northwest/southeast strip that cuts the zone in half. Apparently they can spawn nearly anywhere in the zone outside the lake though. Pulling panthers nonstop I can usually get maybe 1 or 2 an hour; ultravision helps, as does an elevated camera angle. Wear resist gear too, the holgresh are nasty spellcasters...and watch out for Wuoshi if you haven't brought your ClawsofVeeshan faction up to dubious or higher.
To make the tannin, combine the yew leaf and a flask of water in a brew barrel. Trivial at a brewing skill of 68, according to EQTraders (www.eqtraders.com).
First off compare stats to shiverback tunic 11ac 13str 9dex 9agil. so stats are about the same just sta instead of dex. they couldnt make the tunic better than shiverback cuase then everyone would ***** about that. yeah sure it does weight alittle. but these peices are only meant to be worn as single or few peices not the whole set at a time unless you like looks.
IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT WEAR IT! go get your guild take down PoG 30 times and get a full set of silvermoon or fear and get shiverback... ohh wait nm some of those peices suck to.
Maybe should should shut up about this cuase i think verant did a good job. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GO PLAY DAWN, CAMOLOT, ULTIMA or the other new games coming out!

What gives you the right to tell people how to react to items? they pay for this game just as you do and have a right to their opinion. If you don't like what they are saying about it just don't read it. I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just saying that you have no right to tell people to shut up on their opinions, even if they are whining brats...

One time I got home early and I found my parents wrestling in their bedroom NAKED!! My daddy was body splashing my mommy over and over. He must have been doing really good because my mommy kept saying YES! YES! so I didn't call the cops or nothing. I would marry Tunare if she wasnt so bichy. I wish her and Cazic-Thule could just get along. If you wear gnome skin boots and go to a'kannon would you be KOS? Why do people think that just because they can't do anything right for their drunk daddy, that they can act like they know everything to other people? Bunnies eat radishes so they can make babies :)
As I see it tailored stuff is supplemental to whatever you go find on your advcntures (yay let's go camp some stuff - *gag*) so if you've had some trouble finding some nice boots or arms or need a new bracer or whatever then you can go kill panthers or tigerraptors or whatever and get a tailor to make you the bits you need. I can't imagine anyone making a full set of this stuff except for twinking purposes (would be pretty cool with a complete look to start with).
well boys and girls it goes to show that VI doesnt like monks still. Just compare the stats on this to the rogue armor and weep. forget the ac because we get a nice ac bonus but just look at the stats... <sigh> /em looks for a log to bend over Khaltos looks for a log to bend over /shout ok come do me again you bastages!! Khaltos shouts ok come do me again you bastages!!
Ok, back, and I've done the math, yet again :/ heres how the stats break down, monk gear vs rogue gear,
monk, ac 89 str 44 sta 34 dex 44 agi 22 :( cha 11 ? hp 95 wt 5.5
rogue, ac 107, str 73, sta 56, dex 70, agi 101 !! cha 3, hp 50, wt 19.2
yes, it is unbalanced, but so are the classes. yes rogues are a little slow doing damage when you look at hit per hit, but overall, as one time verant said, the highest damage dealer go from rogues to monks, why? rogues do get dual wield and double attack, so do monks, monks get awesome kicks and punches, rogues get a backstab that does at least 2 times the damage that monks kick does, highest ive seen a monk kick for was 180 ish, highest ive seen a backstab for, 278 ish, by a level 45 rogue. of course the rogue had buffs, but so did the monk, /shrug. just throwing my mindless prattle out to the yard for others to pick apart.
Keep in mind haze panther skins for the rogue armor are much more difficult to get. In the time that I've collected over 20 black panther skins I've only gotten 3 haze panther skins. Haze panthers are higher level, spawn about 1/10 as often (my very rough estimate) and can turn invisible.
If it wasn't for the yew leaves, black panther armor would be great for skilling up.
*whine, snivel......wimper wimper.....but what about us?......the ROGUES get better gear....wimper wimper......* Ever played a rogue? they suck.....Monks totally outdamage them, get MUCH better weapons, have MUCH better skills....quit WHINING!! if you dont like your monk so much & think rogues have it better, hmmm....suggestion....GO PLAY A ROGUE!
or just STFU, STFD and play your class or quit. rogues and monks tear it up, who cares who outdamages the other. just kill the mob's and get your exp and l3wtz and be happy or dont play at all. no one is forcing you to play EQ. sheesh.
I dont think Verant cross refrences their CLASS armor against other items...! A Crystal Covered Shroud is a better peice of Equipment and can be found relativly easy OR bought for 1200pp
As i Tailor this item sux to SELL. and the time it takes to retrive the components and the risks of Failor do not justify Risk vrs Reward.... and not to mention R vs R + Time consumption...!
The Chest Peice of Any set of Armor Sets the standard for that Set... AC+11 .. ? WTF is that.. ? I am not asking for UBERism, just reward for my Skills and TIME (and risk).
This Armor should read: Ac+14 STR+10 STA+10 DEX+10 Effect: Panthar sight (Ultravision) WEIGHT: 1.5
and all the rest of the peices should scale from this.... Not UBER but acceptable...!
funny you say that this sucks after all my main is a monk and to me this looks great monks are not made to take hits we are made to give them if you want high ac make a warrior or some other tank class monks get the best weapons but you also think we should get the best armor can we say some one is a bit one sided

Posted:Feb 25 2001 at 4:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Become a rogue or a ranger, then you get the good ones, the rogue tunic is ac 14 str 14 sta 10 agi 20 dex 10 all resists +5, the ranger cloak is ac 9 str 8 dex 10 sta 6 wis 6, hehe ya monks are just being screwed is all
This suit of armor sucks for the weight, for the AC, for the stats in_relation_to the other classes' tailored items, for the diffuculty in acquiring the components, and for the extreme difficulty in tailoring.
This stuff should be trivial at a 100 skill, and the components should be merchant provided.

Posted:Feb 24 2001 at 10:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Oh yes, all this Shadowknight, Paladin, Wizard, etc. tailord items are soooo superior to the monk stuff. All the monks, rogues, and rangers seem so disgruntled by the inferiority of these items. At least its another option for you to use instead of going around and camping for armor like every other sucker out there. (you want to complain about this armor being tough to get the components for, try getting full darkforge, Without buying it or pharming it with a higher char)
If I understand correctly, you low-rated my post, are not a monk, and, rather than construct a counter-argument about AC/weight ratios, hurl meaningless drivel about "other classes" into a discussion about *the* Monk tailored armor.
Bonuses: new look don't have to camp insane camps for it ok ac and stats Downside: WEIGHT - this armor series sucks for monks!!! ~maybe~ the gloves are worth it
I bet absor thought this stuff up saying "monks will like this and it will add character balance to the game, they can't complain anymore"
I am laughing with you, Xi~, not at you :) it is ok to disagree on a few points.
LoL Gloves worth it? Um.. two words:
Celestial
Fists
Some assembly required. ^ ^ (* Note Gauntlets of Firey Might, also)
New look? No, but not that it matters... it's so dark blue, it's black... no-one believes that black leather is "new", right ?
Don't have insane camps for it? What's an insane camp? If not ALL camps ?
Black panthers are, no pun intended, 'pussies' at the level you can hunt them in a group... but there's this little problem of actually making it- *then* it not being worth the reward.
Try looking here, and remember that Human Monks CANNOT FORAGE =/
So it does weigh in at right under the weight limit at the lower levels. Sure, if you add in rings, earrings, range and inventory your going to go over unless all you have are tinker bags. But with the weight limit increases at higher levels (which this stuff) is designed for you should have no problem staying under the limit and still operate at peak performance. You can also trade out pieces that aren't quite as good like the mask, neck, belt and cap.
Besides, have you seen a player in this stuff yet? Its a cool dark blue-black color like a black panther.
There is no weight limit increase as of yet. It is being submited as a balancing issue but has not been finalized yet. It's possible there will never be one.
Does anyone know how to make velium studs / boning (i assume they are made, at least) I tried making velium bits by combining 2 stackable velium pieces and a flask and it said items do not combine blah blah.... I can't seem to find the recipes anywhere. Any help is much appreciated.
1 Velium Temper+ 1 Small Brick of Velium+ File= 1 Boning. Velium Temper is bought in Thurgadin off a vendor in the building to the left of the mines. Small bricks of ore drop off of many mobs, crystal caverns has Orc Miners who drop them often. File is player made as far as I know and is reusable each time whether you suceed or fail to make boning. Hope that helps. :) Good luck. Shinijo Yodama Monk of Nameless
I did the math friend, *all* the black panther gear weighs a *total* of 5.5 stns, add your 2 tink bags, and say, 8 stns in weaps, and your at 15.5 wt, by the time you should have this stuff and your 2 tink bags, you should be above level 40, where your wt is permited to be 18, so that leaves quite a bit of weight left over for your plat, 2.5 stns, and thats using all 8 stns for weaps, use lighter weaps, carry more coin. Im not using actual weapon wts, but count those in and your set. right now my 30 monk would love just a few pieces of this, let alone the entire set, but,, /shrug. be a while yet for him to get some. I'm using a CoT and a springwood club, add it all up, Im at 11.2 wt, 11.6 counting ears and ringer rings. 11.6, and the tunic is too heavy. if ya cant get your hands on tink bags, go the old way, get a high level mage to summon you some glowing back packs or better containers, put all summoned stuff into bags, go get a duel, die, run back, loot the non summoned stuff, sit, camp, log in, loot, and your set, once again. My 30 monk has been hunting FM using this technique, and its fun seeing people wonder about my weight when im looting leg choppers and tree flayers. enough of my rambling, have fun, stay safe
We can handle a little weight..consider this...if all your other armor is .1, then your total armor weight is only 4 or so wearing this. Since our cap is 14 thats not bad at all.
Long as we are under 14 we are good.
Right now I'm wearing Uthork boots and bracers, and while as heavy as leather, my total weight is still under 14 and the extra AC really helps. Plus the boots are +3 dex.
umm, ever seen a martial artist wearing leather or chain? That's why the weight limit! Kind of hard imagining Bruce Lee wearing a helm and full chainmail :O. (hmm, maybe that post was sarcastic and I just missed it)
