#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 22 2001 at 11:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I stopped meleeing at lvl 24, there is no point in it, because in a group setting you'd do more damage while sitting down, and druids without vermiculated gear have crappy ac, just because we can't wear good ac armor. ANyways at lvl 45 pick up some es arms (right click lvl 34 dot) i was in the BW, saw gorgul pop, had 10% mana, snared him and es vams away!!! anyways he dropped the treeweave and yes i do wear it
Why melee
# Aug 15 2001 at 4:32 AM Rating: Default
First of all priest melee skills cap low. Offense caps at around 200. But 1hb capped at 175 for me. That is somewhere in the high 30's for melee classes. When mobs have 3000+ hp, melee is sorry even when they are low. Med and nuke or redot. Takes less time to med than it does to melee them. At 53 I solo level 41ish mobs alot, is hard as a cleric. Even with my 15/32 1hb weapon it takes me forever to take any hp off. It works good on level 27 mobs though.

EXP Good

I am a lvl 50 druid that did this out of boredom and I got a half a blue bub from this quest at 50. Not bad.

the blue line he/she is talking about is the thin blue line thats goes down the middle (horizontally) of your xp bar, what the purpose of the thin blue line is to show you how much more xp you need to fill up one bub of the yellow on the xp bar hope that clears it up and I hope you see this Cbwlbl
Druid Melee

I love it when people overly generalize as the person who posted the "Druids don't melee past 35" comment. Hmmm... I've played a druid since start up and am well past 35 but guess what: I still melee.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 30 2002 at 5:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you got no reason to melee, don't melee you sucky sucky druid
RE: Druid Melee
# Mar 06 2001 at 6:06 PM Rating: Decent
Yep, why not melee, it saves tons of manna if you are attacked by a low blue, and if you are low manna on RZ cause you nuked the hello out of a low blue cause you cant melee, say goodbye to some items and all your plat

Even when I'm fighting a dark blue or a even I melee when they turn to run. Why use the mana to nuke em. And what better way to improve your weapon skills? You're a priest class not a caster.

lol..... Druid's are not melee class and never are. DPS is terrible, THATS why you dont melee a mob down. If its low on health and running you use your free mana items such as EPIC or DoD item. You almost never melee high level as the mobs have far higher hp than you can damage them for in melee.
RE: Druid Melee
# Mar 18 2002 at 12:53 AM Rating: Decent
Why use mana? Because if you cast your main dot and then sit down and med, your going to regain the mana while you are a medding but will do a lot more damage quicker then if you were attacking with a weapon.
RE: Druid Melee

I agree completely, but I would say there's no to ways about this weapon: it stinks. Badly. A two handed weapon with a 4 ratio at 35+? Raise your hand if you haven't been using something one-handed with a better ratio since, oh, 15? Its only slightly better than a combine weapon, for crying out loud.

For those of you that say druids can melee well, then you probably have not gotten into the 50's where if you even attempt to melee a mob you won't do jack to them. By then you should have a bee bracer anyways and thus will be able to take them down without using mana. Sure, just about every class can melee for the first 20, even 30 in some cases, but the mobs just get too much life later on. I'd like to see you try to melee arena mobs in Kael and see how well that goes.

I am a lvl 54 druid and I completly disagree with you... I melee all the time... I have my 1hb up to 159 and my 1hs up to 116. I am using right now a 1hb weaopn 8dmg 24dly with wis str mana and health.. and I beat the crap out of what ever I am attacking. Sure sometimes I will do the usual root dot sit thing... but it is boring. I dmg shield myself while they are dotted and go in (especially on giants) and whack their shins off.. heh heh. Many groups like me because i know how to tank.. yes i said tank.. with my druid.

Any druid that is not meding between casts, clearly isnt into the whole idea of playing a (and i use this term loosly) "priest class". Your a Healer/Misc Spell thower. If you want to play a character that can melee you should not have chose druid.

and there is that stereotyping again... get off your butt and kill something with your weapons... lets see here... fighting with a group.. sitting back medding and casting, out of nowhere A TRAIN... your group is killed except for you, you either A) get killed also because you can't fight and cast at the same time because you spent your whole dumb existence on eq sitting back and medding or... B) have the ability to kill a few creatures just before you gate because you have enough fighting skill to not get stunned EVERY hit and maybe even save a few of the other group members with a succor in the process...

i'll leave the decision up to you :0)
RE: Druid Melee
# Feb 08 2004 at 11:36 PM Rating: Excellent
Can a druid melee...YES,but poorly. No matter how well you think your druid melees ,Much more dmg can be done with spells and since mana regen is almost non existent while meleeing, you are better off medding in between cast instead of meleeing.I grouped with a druid recently that thought he was benefitting the group by casting and meleeing, when i asked for a heal the druid informed me that he was OOM ,but instead of medding he was meleeing.....LOADING....PLEASE WAIT.
So if you want to get in the middle of the fight you might consider creating a Pally,Warrior or some other toon that is capable of handling the job efficiently.
hmm

Unless the Beguile Plants effect it triggered, this is a worthless item.

Hello V: Druids don't melee past 35 -- so, stop with these crappy proc'ing Druid weapons.
It doesn't proc
# Feb 11 2001 at 11:58 PM Rating: Default
This is a right-click weapon--note the Phrase "Charges: 3." It doesn't process, instead it requires you to right-click it.

So does that mean that anybody that can't summon or charm a pet could do this quest and have a plant for a pet ?
RE: It doesn't proc
# Feb 23 2001 at 8:02 PM Rating: Default
No its Druid only. This type of thing is just to save a spell slot. You can use the spell without having the spell memed. Not very usefull with only 3 charges though. If it was unlimited charges it would be very cool.
RE: It doesn't proc
# Feb 26 2001 at 2:15 AM Rating: Default
if it was unlimited charges it would be a hell of alot harder to get, im sure.....
RE: It doesn't proc
# Apr 04 2001 at 7:00 PM Rating: Default
Even though it's druid only, I'm not SURE but it might be able to be proc'd by other characters like you proc Jboots...*shrugs* why not? there's potions to summon magician pets or necro pets....this is a pretty mid lvl spell, like mid twenties or so, so even if other people could proc it, it's probably got a lvl limit on it (i.e.-woven frost giant beards are effect:storm strength, must be worn to right click, must be lvl 45 or it will say "you arent high enough lvl to use this spell" or something)
RE: It doesn't proc
# Jun 14 2001 at 1:50 PM Rating: Default
FYI The Frost Giant Beards are not lvl 45, they are lvl 35. But you do have a good point. But, this being a weapon...I really dount anyone else but a druid can proc it. Weapons, that I know of, are not clickable proc's (other than the warrior epic).

# Aug 23 2001 at 1:58 AM Rating: Default
Staff of Temperate Flux right click proc's to name just one weap that does and is not an epic.

Be a Non-wizard, and try to click a Staff of Temp flux from your inventory. After that, go try and click a Mask of Deception(bards/rogues can) from inventory. Despite the fact that THE PROPER CLASS can click it from inventory, NO LONGER means that anyone can. JBoots are All/All, thats why anyone can click from the inventory. Actually, Guise of the Deciever is the only Clickable-from-Inventory Item i know of, that the classes don't have to match...

The Amulet of Necropotence is INT caster only, but can be clicked from inventory by anyone.
