how many hitpoints do azure sleeves have? 35 hp alone isnt alot, but when you start adding up 35 per piece of armor...
Junk

With the other Armors now available to Monks.. this stuff is all junk. Grey Flesh is the way to go.
And then....

And then the lord gaveth Acrylia Reinforced Armor... and made this stuff useless.

Sure these aren't THAT great but still they aren't bad. I just got them tonight and switched them with my Azure Sleeves. Sure I am losing AC (I have 1000 AC dead even at 56 w/ fungi and no right clicky from Robe of the Whistling Fists..I know 1000 is pretty pathetic, but I plan on getting a few new pieces of gear to help that out a lot soon :p), but I guess it all depends on what you really want. I, personally, am willing to sacrifice some AC for the extra stats/hp/saves atm. But that's just me :)

OK Several people have complained that these aren't all that great.

They are good though, they're not supposed to be the best monk item in the game, that's why they're attainable at level 45.

I won a pair of the eroded sleeves in a Kael raid, so I will do this quest and wear them until I find something better.

We can't just all go "Poof" and have some uber planar gear magically appear in our hands, we need something in the mean time until we can manage to get that and these are nice.

Full Grand Master suit of armour

guys, right quick did calculations for the full set of gm. Here are the raw numbers:

ac58 hp160 sr42 dx8 sa13 ag22 ch0

m11 f11 p11 c11 d11 wt1.1

Now assuming that raw ac and ag translate up higher that makes

ac@1.5 = 87 @2.0 = 116

ag@1.5 = 33 @2.0 = 44

The other stats I think are direct transfers and don't need modifiers the full suit is nice at wt 1.1 however for a full suit the resists suck, for a full suit the ac sucks, for a full suit for a MONK theres not a lot of DEX, AGI, STR, AC. This i think is shameful since these stats are the same as the planar armour from POG. Notice that all this gear is magical and not just cloth. Which means it is supposed to have a magical dweomer. For a magical dweomer from a planar stand point it's pathetic. I agree with each of you that there are much better items and it would seem that whoever made this eq was actually going back to prekunark standards for monk. Remember the sashes and headbands? Shocking. Feel free to correct any of the math. It's still quite pathetic.
Quality of the Grand Master's Gear
# May 09 2001 at 12:45 PM Rating: Good
I'm having a little difficulty understanding why any of you that actually play as Monks would spend so much time talking trash about this gear. Granted, it might not be what some of us feel it should be but I'm lvl 51 and still in some crescent, now as opposed to crescent or most attainable gear (I, for one, am not in a so called uber guild, or a guild at all currently) this gear rocks next to alot of what I've seen for Monks. It's not Golden Star maybe but Monks need the STR for the powerful blows and the increased ATK because when it all comes out in the wash, we excel through our ATK stat.

I don't know about the rest of you Monks, but I'd rather take a little hit to the AC and go with the +4 STR and +4 Dex, not to mention the HP boost then cling to AC which hasn't helped me much in a time of crisis anyways )

Sure, I often fantasize about having chest pieces with 40 AC and +15 to all stats but I'm not a Warrior, I'm a Monk, my job is to smack the frick down on a mob, not let it twist me into a swedish pretzel while relying on my AC. I've gotta say that with what I've got currently, I'd take this stuff gladly.

Just my 2cp,

I would have to agree with you Antiochus. I am also at 51 (where soloing is hit and miss). Most of my effort is spent on beating on the backs of mobs while a Warr with 4k+ hps (buffed of course) and a ton of AC beats on a mob.

Its how it will always be from now on. We are mainly for "splitting pulls", "single pulls", and an ocational "rescue". Give me Haste, Str, Dex and whatever else that will get my weapons to proc fast enough to help kill the mob FAST.

BTW I got lucky on the arms (someone /ooc a shout for eroded arms) ... group leader got there fast and looted them for me.
Hope to MQ them soon:)
Azure vs These

Umm...one note. Armor to an Iksar would be a minus 7ac for trading up azure for these. Not sure if that matters to anyone, and besides...it's not like I will be seeing either anytime soon unless someone prefers one over the other and feels REALLY generous to give the other up to me ;-)

New to EQ.

Azure sleeves are ac12 0.6lbs thats a half pound of weight. When you start getting those half pounds here and there you start wondering if you'll be able to stay below 14lbs and have max ac and resists. Stats are just a bonus.

But if you wear the grandmaster items, and finaly get your epic, and reach level 55+ you then start leaning on stats and resists, cause your base ac is near 950+.

Its at that time you think well maybe I drop a pound here and half a pound there loose a few ac doing it and then get a Idol of Thorned? gain 10ac and nice stats. yea I can see wearing these over Azure. Cause pretty much once we get over 900base, your not going to notice a difference in how mobs hit you really cause for one your normaly fighting mobs that are from level 45 to upwards of 60+ and believe me. . . . a level 65 dragon is still gona smack you around even with 1000ac. So if you can up stats and resists to off set their spells and give you harder hits? Why not go for it?

# Sep 20 2001 at 12:26 PM Rating: Excellent
Heh, the fact that at 51, your weight limit is 18, and at 55 I think its at least 19, means that that half a pound of weight for the extra 5 ac is really worth it. I would wear Azure over these any day. Right now Im a few over weight because Im using a peacebringer, and it weighs 10...need to work on getting rid of some of my heavier gear to get lower, but I don't plan to get rid of my .6wt azure sleeves....

Ooops sorry about the above post my Computer freaked out heeh. Anyway, Azure sleeves are ac 12 weight 0.4 (a few of these 0.4's add up) true, the azure sleeves do have more ac but the pure stat base on these more than makes up for it by the time you are high enough lvl to obtain these. By the high 40's and low 50's many monks have noticed their gear is gaining more ac and their total is getting near the mid 900's mark. Some may be willing to sacrifice their azure sleeves for some extra added stats (dex for the proc, str to raise atk, hp to get hit that one extra time) then again, the drop of 5 ac is kind of ridiculous. I guess it all matters on how high your current ac gear is, and whether or not you can sacrifice it for a cool not so common item, and the extra stats. the small Sv bonuses ar enice for raids as well, never can have too much poison resist when killing trakanon and the like (=

Both azure and Grand master arms are great pieces of armor.

It really depends what you want. These are nice for the 35hps and 2 sta, azure have 5 more base ac.

Personally I'd use Azure, they are just so much AC to give up.

Another bad set of armor. You have to kill 50 plus lvl mobs to get these arms. Then who would want to wear. Again I dunno who Verant cares less for Druids Necros or Monks. Our armor is so sad. Oh who wants to go on a fear plane run to get armor that is worse than lvl 25 stuff you can get. The only good higher lvl armor is the tailored black panther stuff.
Hmmmmm
# Feb 22 2001 at 10:22 AM Rating: Default
Even with these stats, at level 45, I can't see anyone wearing these as primary arms when the azure have no weight and have a base of 12 AC I think?

Sounds like it's just another item to pick up along the way if you want a measly boost to some stats and caster protection (though 1 doesn't go very far).

I could see these being more of a mid level monk item, not this 45th and above level.

Comments?

Actually Azure sleeves weigh 0.6, and for monks that .5 weight translates into better equipment elsewhere, and the stats on these help make up for the difference in ac in my opinion.
