agro
# Sep 28 2004 at 3:31 AM Rating: Default
tho its dps may stink compared to weapons nowadays, it is vastly underlooked as an agro weapon. the -15 ac for minute + creats alot of agro ( well im assuming this ) for ive used obsidian scimitar of war alot, and it has a 30dd with less -ac debuff than this, and it holds agro incredibly well. now i have anger 3 in it and my other weapons, but i would say it is on par with an anger 1-2 aug atleast. so this might just hold agro as well as anger 2 maby 3 augs.
Nice axe.

Got this today on TT bazaar for 600pp. Needless to say I now have this teamed up with a venomous axe of the velium brood and it looks like it will rock when I get 40 (37 now). Just wondering now which weapon I want to keep, the venomous axe or the entropy serpent spine I was using. BTW, this thing has a nice graphic too when used. Looks like a semi tranparent axe (like ice). Should be interesting...

I couldn't help it!
Found one on Terris Thule for 500pp last night.
Couldn't believe it! I love when you find something nice like that! Seemed to be a trend, though I ran out of money. So far, I've grabbed a Lupine Dagger at 750pp, Tae Ew leggs at 1.2K, Haze Panther Tunic and Scull Cap at 2.5K each...
If you're patient in Baz, the deals come. Just keep looking. But not on TT server ;-P

I would say Frost since chipper is recommanded 51

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 14 2003 at 2:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have a 51 Warrior with a Snowchipper in Main hand and this Frostbringer in off hand. With gear on that brings my Dex above 160 both proc a lot. Great little combo for agro holding. At 180 and higher Dex it starts becoming a little unreal how often they proc.

I have a Frostbringer and dig it! Currently at level 44 I am using Frostbringer in Primary and Venomous Axe of the Velium Brood in Secondary with Call of Sky loaded up and am putting out some pretty good damage! I also bought a Snowchipper and am stoked for level 51 when I can use this bad boy. Frosty in Primary and Chipper in Secondary along with Jolt is gonna rule! Shine the agro learn to love it WOOT!

frosty debate
# Apr 25 2003 at 9:05 AM Rating: Decent
My lvl 53 rng uses a frosty primary and a defender's secondary. This works very well in grps. When going solo I can switch them or leave them, the dmg averages out either way. The frosty will proc more as the primary though.

The combo is one of the better ones. Ideally, you want something fast in primary and something punishing (defender's works well here, so does centi LS) in the offhand.

Lastly, if you have a ranger, have the spell jolt and STILL have problems w/ agro, you need to find a new class.
Frosty vs Venom Axe?
# Apr 21 2003 at 2:19 PM Rating: Default
Frosty is 1 dmg more and 2 dly less.
Frosty proc is Ac debyff and 60dmg
Venom proc 85 dmg.

Does this realy worth extra 6K?

*confused*

Frosty is an excellent weapon but when used with any set of weapons you must find a balance.

Suggestions:

Primary: Frosty (4-6k)
Secondary: Black Acrylia Long Sword (5-6k) (stuns and heals you by tapping mob hp)

If you notice you require heals switch Black Acryl LS to primary for more processing.

Primary: Frosty
Secondary: Crescent Blades of Luclin (6-8k) (Shadow Step +19AC)

Primary: Frosty
Secondary: Centi LS (2k), Defiance (1.5-2k), etc.

The challenge to dealing damage is to hold agro as MT and not agro but damage as much as possible when not the MT. Sounds simple in theory but will vary depending on group, capabilities of MT and player style both yours and MT's.

The idea is to find the balance -- ride the edge.

As the non MT this is your reason for being in the group. Your job is to whittle down the mobs fast and very infrequently or never require a heal, thus not use mana enabling the group to move to next mob.

Groups with a good damage dealers will appreciate your work and notice no heals for you and that mobs get whittled -- fast.

Finding the right weapon combo in the group your in at the time keeps up the challenge and fun. Even if you only have 3 weapons to pick from switch them between primary and secondary and assess how well MT is holding agro.

Btw, you want processes pump up the Dex. Look at Bracelet of Quickness (+15Dex 8-10k), Bracer of Agitation (+9Dex 700-800pp), Mushroom Veil +12Dex 600-1k), Valorium Ring of Galant (+8 Dex 6-8k), Vah Shir Claw Earring (+6Dex 1.5-2.5k) and armor items with Dex.

Other weapons to consider with or instead of Frostbringer:

Tae Ew Long Sword 12/20 (8-10k)
Snow Chipper 10/20 (8-12k) (next tier up with great stats and +3%Parry mod)

As you increase your damage output you can group with higher and meaner MTs and literally be the killer asset to the group.

Happy Hunting !

Nit pick: Proc on CBoL isnt Shadow Step, just Shadow. Shadow Step as a proc would be highly, highly annoying at best, potentially very very dangerous.

Very well said :) good thing you gave much closer pricing to those items then this sites pricing guide suggests, the items you listed, for the most part, were right on the money for my servers PC atm.

Anyways I just made a ranger and have yet to group with anyone, but I love your suggestions and how you provided good examples of each combo (leeching w/ black acrylia, shadow step proc, etc..). Thanks for that post :)

Depends on the group you're with. You'll do a lot more damage with Defiance in your primary (even with the Centi LS), and Frostbringer in your off-hand but you'll also generate a lot more agro. Just keep Jolt handy. If you're grouped with competent tanks, aggro won't be an issue.

"If you're grouped with competent tanks, aggro won't be an issue."

A tank has basically 2 things to control aggro...distance from mob and taunt...after that the competancy falls to the dmg dealers and not the tank. Its their job to not take aggro not his to ensure that they dont. Any class in game can take aggro faster/better than a warrior, the real trick is to not take it!

why can't ppl read than post message?
i see like 10 messages alone for the proc lvl P""!

this is a great weapon for a warr and not a ranger since it creates a lot of agro from the armour debuff
if you have the money for frosty as a ranger...i would recommand you to buy a snowchipper instead(that is if you are 51+) OR a steel hilted flint dagger...it has a 625proc and with 150+ base dex it procs massively(HoS + chanter haste would make you do immense dmg)in KC a few nights back our monk pulled 3 mobs. i alone did 5k+ dmg with the dagger and woulda wiped out if i didn't have that dagger(cleric lom + monk dead)

For some reason i can not get too the Frostbite spell info. Does anyone know what the proc is i know there is a 60hp hit at first but then i get a message that frostbite has worn off. Also i have proced up to 5 times on a single mob does the proc stack?

RE: Proc

Its a 60 dd + ac debuff, if you proc twice then it just deals 60 damage twice, the ac debuff doesnt stack.
re: not to warriors
# Sep 21 2002 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
The warrior was 4 levels lower than the ranger and 2 levels lower than monk...warrior will almost never outtaunt them in that situation. Especially if monk is epic. Monks and rangers usually outdamage warriors. Verant designed the endgame this way. For informative discussion of this see the SteelWarrior board. Monk does 2x damage of warrior.
"Aggro management" is the best verant could do to make mob encounters challenging. If the warrior had better taunt or damage, they reasoned, all encounters would be unchallenging b/c if it was easy to hold aggro, everyone would just slaughter the mob without thinking.

Just a word of advice to the lower(ish) warriors that think getting this will automaticly shoot your agro through the roof. A Frosty CAN be a really good source of agro, IF you have good dex (like 150+).
Example from KC about a week ago: Group of Warrior/Ranger(me)/Monk/Shammy/Chanter/Cleric. I don't remember casters levels but i remember I was 55, Warrior was 51, monk was 53, those are the important ones. Warrior had Guard Captains Mallet (11/20) + Frosty (12/22), I had Lupine Dagger (9/18) + JBoM (13/25), Monk had a T-Staff (29/30). After HoS my dex was 215, warriors dex was 150ish (153 i think), monk was 180ish. Call of Fire was going off rather often (65DD +stun) ranger 55 proc buff, while the warriors Stun hammer and frosty were barely firing at all, and the monks Tstaff was going off a good bit as well. Needless to say, I was laying on the Jolt hotkey, while the monk was FDing left and right. Warrior was having a rough time holding agro. When the Frosty DID go off, she held the agro fine though.
Moral of this story, If you're gonna invest in a Frosty, make sure you invest in some good dex gear 1st, it'll save your friendly neighborhood rangers, rogues, and monks a LOT of agro negation. ;)

just one thing
call of sky is only 35DD + 0 second stun
not 65....also the stun is only for interrupting spell, not much taunt
just wanted to point that out...prolly just typo(i hope so..he is lvl 55!) but 30 more dmg is much more much more taunt
RE: Not to Warriors wanting this for the Taunt
# Sep 18 2002 at 11:58 AM Rating: Good
Eeeeks. Sounds to me like the warrior really needs to invest in some dex gear hon. At level 55 a warrior really needs to think through how he is going to maintain aggro for the group -- looking for tht equipment that will not only add to AC and HP, but critical stats as well.

This post is more of a huggles post to her long term friend Wolv :-)

A level 55 war that has HoS and only has a dex of 150? Not bloody likely unless she just did a server transfer. At 55 my base dex, and not that well equipped was 135 so with HoS 185. Now running 185 base... much better equipped.
Got a good deal me thinks :)

Got one for my 45 ranger main for 5k! sum1 in bazaar had 1 for 8k and 5500. I sent the guy for 5500pp a tell asking if he accepted trades and 5k and he said i'll just take 5k. i use this and defiance and i hit fast and with str self buffed at 182 its decent damage also i haev SCHW and so get the good haste. I find soloing mobs is easier hehe. altho cos i mostly have str items i have low sta and therefore low hp. Altho i have AC 872 self buffed i still have trouble any non animal mobs can get tough and can see me rooting them and steppiong back to heal a little. But in a group where i dont tank i tend to out damage a war ) altho saving up for a LSoEE now so i can put FB into primary and LSoEE into off hand. After my monk gets more twinked hehe`
good taunt

Excellent 1hs
# Jul 07 2002 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed this weapon. For starters, 12 22 is a great damage ratio, better than even lamentation and other competitors. I currently use this in the main paired up with velium swiftblade in my offhand. I would consider this a wise choice at 40, because that is when you're frostbringer will start to proc and when your VSB will reach its maximum haste. At around 100 dex I have gotten this to proc up to 4 times against a green mob (barely green). I highly recommend this to all dual wielding classes, due to its extreme damage ratio and occasional proc that can really turn the outcome of a battle.

Haste is NOT based on level. That misconception is made because clicking on the "Haste" link on allakhazam brings you to the Spell: Haste, which is based on level.
