Any of you here posting ever BEEN to the Plane of Air? yes, I have my epic and I have far better gear, but it's FUN. Sure, it's 2hb. So? Can you say you've completed one of the Plane of Sky quests? and 25 Disease resist, that's pretty darn nice. Does it have a custom graphic?
Sure, this staff might not be very good but think of the fun you'll have getting it; after all the game is called "Everquest" and not "Let's See Who Can Out-Uber Everyone Else." And besides, it isn't the items that make the Wizzy, it's the Wizzy that makes the Wizzy.
better than the staff of the weel!! omg my wiz would have loved this and the dam/delay is actuly useable more int and the ressits and mana... mmmmmmmmmm yes oh YES!!

The plane of Air is incredibly hard. Completing this quest would require at least a week in Air with a very large raiding party. And usually, it takes multiple trips to Air to complete quests on these far islands. If you have that much firepower, there are a lot better weapons you can get for a lot less effort.
To put things in perspective, I wield a gnarled staff and a phenocryst. Combined they give me: 25 int, 15 hps, 85 mana, 23 sv cold, 30 sv magic, 3 sv fire, poison & disease, 3 dex, 3 cha, 5 ac. That is a ton better than the Nargon staff - and both items were a heck of a lot easier to get. No wizard who is strong enough to get this staff would actually use it.
Oh, yeah! The plane of Sky! Where you can get a staff that has 5 less int than holding two items, less mana, and even less resists!
I haven't seen one item in the game worth giving up two items to use, and that is exactly what you would need to do to use this.
The Plane of Air was supposed to be the place to get wonderous items, yet Verant can't get a clue as to what is a good item and what blows.
But don't complain about it! By examining past experiences with people letting them know that an item isn't worth the risk we know that they will only make the other items harder to get or not as cool.

This item has probably been in since beta, but no one finished the quest until now. Since there have been 2 expansions yes there are better items out there now, but back then this was probably the best thing you could use. jeez get a life

You really showed that guy! =P Except the small fact that they didnt even _open_ PoA till WAY after release. Second, even pre-kunark, this item would suck for a l50 wizard. A staff of the wheel+GBS would be preferable, or GBS+Moggok. Just because those items don't have mana on them doesn't really mean much. You can always ditch some other INT gear and get mana gear. Plus, theoretically, GBS+moggok could be obtainable by a solo l16 or so enchanter, and probably quicker than a l50 could get this staff.

Problem is that the stein of moggok also has 25 sv disease and 10 int and is one handed. high level 2 handers need at least 20 int and some mana and some nice saves to several of them to make up for being 2 handed.
A twqo hand blunt weapon that has sub-par stats. Why do they continue to give wizards the same items over and over again?
we get 1 hand blunts we get 2 hand blunts we get caps we get masks
In otherwords, we get subpar items with decent stats on them. There is no way this staff at the level required to get it will make up for two held items. It just proves to me that Verant really has no clue about epuipment for Wizards
At least you get 6 quests. Oh and armor that is fitting for your role. If SoL gives me armor with the same ac as clerics and worse stats I am going to go insane

Over and over again, we are left out in the cold: be in equipment, spells, you name it, VI has forsaken us. This staff (and it's suck-*** stats) should really not be a surprise...its on par with VI and it's "Vision"(tm): Down with Wizards!
One sub-par item, and Verant "hates my class". Look at one or two of the other items released today, like the mage headpiece and cleric staff (I think). If one item is going to ruin your pleasure of the class you have chosen, good grief, start another character like Mulzot said. Inspect every single piece of equipment usable by them, make sure they are ALL to your liking, and quit griping!!! Get the point? Yes, equipment is very important. But the variety is so great now with Velious, you can actually not look like everyothercaster, or be a carbon copy equipment-wise. Don't focus on one bad thing, look to another...I'm still wearing soft leather boots, if you look at one of the other threads. But you know what? My int is 202. So am I stupid? An idiot? Your call. And yes, I already have started replacing int gear with mana+. I guess I am just tired of so many being so negative about such a minor issue. Verant hates my class...It's a FAKE...You're (or Your) an idiot...TELL ME WHERE THIS IS FOUND!....and so on and so forth. Now that I've rambled on entirely too long, I'm off! (but you knew that)

why would VI have anything against any one class? They created them all. I don't understand people saying that thier class is subpar because... well, because they don't get the things that they want right away. So what if this staff is horrible? If you don't want to play a wizard, don't play a wizard! Find another class that isn't so SUBPAR in your opinion.
