The rechargeable Truwian Baton was replaced circa 2002 with the non-rechargeable Baton of the Sky for completing the Cleric Test of the Weak. You can hand in the Truwian Baton to Derric Lenox to get the Baton of the Sky. (source) |

Is this item, like many other sky items, rechargeable?

Enough talk about equiping it, does anyone have one? 3 of the 4 pcs to do this quest dont have mobs attached. Where can you find the pcs to do this quest?
I'd like to get this, I found out about it when I got one of the parts on Drake Island (Or Bzzt, those were the only two I was on) The stats are better than the sum of my current items- Dark Ember and Book of Obulus/Straithbone Shield (I think? the one with 9wis, sv poison?)
I would keep this, the DE and the Book, lose the shield. Improved Healing 2 on Book is nice, makes my Superior Heal almost viable at this level, but if I were say in a CHeal chain I'd switch to this Baton. More wisdom and mana, and the dmg/dly would keep me on my *** instead of trying to fight =)

In a mid-powered guild. No ToV, I was cleric number two with epic. We had two level 60 warriors, no other 60s.
On Drinal, which is a reasonably old server.
The clerics who don't have their epic at level 59 don't have it by choice, for the most part.
I agree that the Overking is not an easy raid. But if you have enough friends/guildies to take out the Overking, then its very possible to get your epic early in the 50s IF you are willing to put in the time and effort required.
And the cleric epic is SO not the hardest epic. Not even close. Hell-I think only the rogue is easier.
Our mobs, when they spawn, ALWAYS drop our epic piece. Ask any other class how many times they killed their epic mobs. I think only monks have guaranteed drops across the board like we do.
Three rare spawns, two triggered, one static. 6 mobs to kill, half of which are single group encounters or smaller.

Shaman mobs are also uaranteed drops across the board. However, there is a random spawn of the Iksar Broodling in Fear off the 3 big golems, it is a spawn, but a level 1 mob, so technically you could call it a random drop (nice to have as a spawn since then if no shaman needs you have more than 7 minutes to find a friend for it)

clerics that are 51+ will have there epics? the cleric epic is one of the hardest if not the hardest epic to get. i know many ppl that are 59 and still dont have the cleric epic.

Let's just say it IS an item.
There is other stuff that drops in PoA that rocks... other epics make you come here and fight... i fyou have a cleric with no epic and he won't be getting it soon and the items drop.. turn them in and get it.
The weap is NOT great... The epic... hell it is the epic and you should not even compare it to anything... it is ment to be the best hands down.
Yes a sarnak shield and a good 1HB weap is better.. I agree... but sometimes this weap is just FREE... I mean if you there anyway and the stuff drops what are you going to do hit destroy on them? Nah... get the weap.

uhm any of you people who say cleric epic is easy to get ever try getting a ragefire spawn on an old server?,.... It´s pretty much camped 24/7 by atleast 2 or 3 guilds,.
i dont think you would have to wait months in line to get this item here in PoA,..
(i´m not saying that this item is in any way as great as the epic,... it´s just not easy to get the epic)

what a worthless quest... every cleric 51+ either has their epic or will soon... epic is not a benefit, its a requirement of being a high lvl cleric, which is sad.. but true. So, with that said there is absolutely no use for this item, no where near the correct risk/reward ratio. Don't bother with it my fellow clerics.

cleric epic is not required, sorry. the cleric epic makes you one thing on raids...the raid rez tool. XP grinds are XP grinds. you don't even need planar armor to grind away towards 60 in seb chardok velks or anywhere else. sure, it is nice, and better AC is cool, but it isn't really needed. and far from required.
i doubt you will read this reply, since you posted in april but i hope you do. saying that the cleric epic is a requirement of 51+ clerics is just wrong. i think you know this, too. i just hope you start speaking your mind, rather than what you are, "supposed to say."

Oh you silly people. Yes back in the day that was an awesome weapon. But it has fallen by the wayside with the addition of the Cleric Epic. My guild Jade Dragon on Xegony do not do PoA enough to even have a chance at this nor would most of clerics want it, since most now use the sprinkler, sarnak combo. As for cleric's meleeing hell yes if I am in a group that is not taking the brunt of a mob I will melee if I am at full mana. its fun, I do a little damage and its a hoot to see your cleric meleeing. I dont do this usually unless its with guildmates that understand and trust my judgement though. Other people might freak if they see their cleric meleeing.

As with most of the zones we used to know as tough, The plane of Air is now one of the easier zones to hunt in, making the items you get from these zones easier to obtain. Consider how hard this was pre kunark, and it would be a very worthwhile weapon to have. (There was no super duper mega make your jaw drop items besides the planer and god items before kunark remember) (=
The cleric epic is probably a bit easier to get than any PoA quested item in truth..

At that level you can easily have the two following items....
Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh: Dmg 20, Dly 32. +10 Stamina, +25 Wisdom, +15 Charisma, +10 Magic Resist, +10 Fire Resist, +10 Cold Resist, +10 Posion Resist, +10 Disease Resist, +100 Mana
Sarnak Battle Shield: +25 AC, +5 Strength, +5 Stamina, +10 Magic Resist, +10 Fire Resist, +10 Cold Resist, +40 Hit Points
And with the Sprinkler, if I want to bash a few round when I am full mana, my max hit is 68 with no haste/atk buffs. I can hit 77 with bard songs running. And, no, I don't hit often, but it's fun. (average hit is in the 40s)
Not only that, the sprinkler casts the level 56 res (unlimited), not the 49 res (three charges) that the PoA staff does.

I am sooo sick of people saying that Epic is easy to get..No matter what lvl you are..Ragefire is now in Skyfire and on a 7-10 day spawn timer..and when he does spawn you have to fight over killing him..so no this epic is not that easy to get.

I am going to refrain from flaming you on saying that the water sprinkler of nem ankh is a superior weapon. Of course it is! It is the clerical epic weapon! DUH!
This is an EXCELLENT weapon. It doesn't matter if it is worse than another, you have to look at the weapon itself. I don't know what has gotten into people these days, they seem to think that just because there is better that all items lower than it suck. Most clerics don't melee, so the damage to delay is not too important. All the stats on this weapon are very suited to the cleric. 10 str for better AC armor, 15 wis is very good for a weapon, and 75 mana is very helpful. So I would say this is a very good weapon for a cleric.
The 3 charges are not very useful, and I don't know if they can be recharged with a mana battery, but still a good effect.
So don't bash a weapon just because something is better than it, let alone the epic.

What you seem to be missing Pratell is that if you are in a guild with resources enough to do PoA quest weapons they have the resources to get the Water Sprinkler/Sarnak Battle Shield combo. Also becasue Clerics having that Sprinkler is so important to a guild as a whole most guilds of this power level are generaly willing to drop almost eveything to get thier clerics the Water Sprinklers.

Right but when you think about it PoA was out in Alpha Beta. Epic weapons were just released recently so this is an older weapon which was pretty good back in the day.

Well, the epic weapons weren't in the game when this was put in. At the time it was actually a pretty cool item for a cleric.

Woot!! Check that damage. DAMN sweet held item tho :)
Frankly, I'm not too impressed... the +WIS isn't too hot for both held items (hell, CGS + Paw is 18 wis...), the +Mana is nice.
All things considered (namely, odds of doing enough PoA time to complete this), chase the Water Sprinkler, much better ;)

You guys are missing the point. What the hell does a cleric need with a damage weapon. If your any kind of cleric your sitting in the back making sure your group is in good health. NOT up front attacking the damn thing. All in all the rest of the stats are excellent!

actually not too good, its 2hb so it takes up both hand slots and at that level you should have more then 15 wis coming from your held items.

Don't overlook the 25 ac and +75 mana. This item really is a nice held item regardless of being 2hb. The 25 ac makes up for the lack of a shield in the off hand and +75 mana is about 7.5 wis at lvl 50. Also at that lvl you might already be around 200 wis and wouldn't need to have more than the 15 from held items.
