I got one of these off the retainer in CC found its just as good as my Ghoulbane dam wise when fighting but it is faster. Not sure why but most webpages don't list it as a drop.
What drops it?

the same mob who drop the Crystalline Sword before.
The sword dont drop anymore, now this blade drop.

I'm afraid your wrong there, the Crystalline Blade drops in Permafrost and the Crystallized Blade drops in Crystal Caverns. The Crystalline blade never stopped dropping, and it never dropped in Crystal Caverns.
I think that the Crystallized Blade drops off of a drachnid retainer in the Spider tunnels in Crystal Caverns.

Actually, by his post, I believe he was referring to the CRYSTALLIZED SWORD no longer dropping. It does still drop, but the drop rate was amended to where it is now rather rare. Both the Crystallized Sword and Crystallized Blade drop in the same place: Queen room of Crystal Caverns.

If you are intending to camp this item, it is recommended that you either get in, with a group 30+ after a high level person has cleared the room (ususally after the crystalline silks that drop off the spiders) or bring a group or two level 35+. The room can be tough to break, so bring an enchanter or a couple bards.

Not only is the damage output very good but my level 35 paladin loses no stamina when wielding it in fights.

Hehe. The only reason it is SLIGHTLY better than crystallized sword is because Pallys and Shadowknights can't dual wield them...

And I take it this is very rare as crystal caverns has been camped for a while now.

So...you want a rare sword with a ratio 5% better than crystallized sword?

At level 35... I have only one piece of advice... go ahead, camp this dungeon, sell the robe, sell the shield, sell the swords...

and buy a Wurmslayer.

Ever better, buy a MoSS, if you're an SK. Half the price of a Wurmslayer, quarter of its weight, and 18% more damage.
What's 18%? Same as FBSS. In other words, MoSS does about same damage as Wurmslayer with an FBSS

rare?

Not my experience. I camped the queen all evening a week ago, surely 6-7 hours, and this blade dropped *every* time off the Drachnid Retainer. And no I'm not mistaking it for Crystallized Sword, because that was why I was there :P

I believe it dropped something like 4-5 times during those hours.

This sword does indeed drop off Drachnid Retainers. My group killed one a couple nights ago and I looted the Crystallized Blade off it. The same group without me on a previous night said they had looted that sword off another Retainer.

Somehow the retainers had worked their way close to the Great Hall and that's how we nabbed one.

So let me get this straight...

You camped a this site for 6-7 hours.
It dropped 4-5 times.
The sword is the reason you were there?

Was it a bunch of Paladins and Shadowknights, because the item is LORE. Why camp a for a lore item?

I'm not saying...I'm just saying.

Personally, I refuse to buy a Wurmslayer.

I refuse to become a cookie-cutter Paladin... and I shouldn't have to be.

RE: Excellent weapon

Wurmslayer has a major problem in that you just can't taunt well with it... you end up with surprised dead casters, when you can't taunt mobs as well as they're used to.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 15 2001 at 9:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think he means the look is stupid as hell, and I would have to agree it does look pretty dumb - especially when ya see a warrior dual wielding that and a spear or some other rediculous looking weapon combo...
