I was camping the PSC's for a few weeks. The average drop rate of the PSC during that time was one per dose of KEI, or approx three hours.
I was seeing maybe one phase spider silk(No Drop) per hour drop.
Now, with the new quest requiring the silks they are dropping much more frequently, but I have not seen a PSC drop in over a week worth of camping DN. I am wondering if they have changed the drop rate for this tradeable item, as they seem to have done for so many other items lately.

Well, today I was agro kiting these with a 52 dru and a 42 mnk. Very easy and haven't gotton a PSC yet but will keep trying. Dru got agro and ran around while mnk whacked it, good way to kill these considering that a dru isn't a very good healer at that level. (Will be easier when both characters are a higher level.)

I was hunting there last night 3 boxing Chanter Druid and Monk. AS of 11/04/03 they no longer shadowstep! I must have killed around 70 of them. did not get shadowstepped once. Monk was 57 , Dru 65 Chanter 61. After about 50 kills I got a PSC.

Go camp one for yourself and you wont think so.
Yes, try camping one. I camped the phase spiders for 4 days, 5 hours a day and didn't get a drop. They're worth every penny in the bazaar.
I hunted these guys for about 8 hours yesterday and I saw no sign of them proccing Shadow Step. My mage friend even joined me half way through and we were having his pet act as an extra DoT. Sometimes though the pet would gain aggro and not once was he ever gated back to his home point either. Odd...

Shadowstep isnt a gate spell, but teleports you over a short distance, about 2-20 yards. i reckon you have been kiting, cause I have hunted them a while back while waiting for a raid to gather and they did proc shadow step on my pet every few seconds.

Camped for 6hours with my 52 Bard and No drops, I had heard rumors that they used to drop a lot more but in over 22 hours of killing I have never seen one drop.

Ok I would like to share my experience with camping this , I spent TWELVE hours straight camping this thing it was 3am my time and i decided to call it a night a monk zoned in before i camped asked if he could camp them i said sure he pulled the closest ones killed it looted PSC and ran away ... I was pissed , i must have killed 300+ spiders and i didnt get anything he killed one and got it sold it for 8k seconds later .. Just FYI im a 65 beastlord on Rodcet Nife , you have to have patience and a high tolerence for upsets with this camp they have nerfed it to hell if your lucky enough to get one in 10 minutes sell it to me ..

Wait where do they gate you to?? Anywhere in zone or just the pills?
They gate you a random distance in a random direction. I have fought these in the entrance area and they gate thing really isn't too big of a deal if your warrior has solid aggro beacause they will just keep coming at him anyhow. Must be careful of construct traps and other spiders though. I have never seen them gate farther than your average spell range...say 200 to 300 feet relative in EQ. The only problem we really had was when the chanter would slow at the same time I got gated and I would have to run back and taunt quick before the spider carved through her runes.

I was killing down there wasting time waiting for a POP group to open up. and Bam I got one on my 1st pull, but I had been there before killed about 15 nothing. I was happy to get mine, well I pulled another being only 2AA from dinging. And Bam another one dropped, since I was soloing I ported to nexus sold that one cheap for 7K. So I gated back and looted my other one w/ 1min and 28 sec left on body, so now I have one for one of my alts :) and 7K richer!!!

Lucked out today and got one after 6 kills. As a 62 Beastlord, my pet was generally able to chew through them after slow went down. They hit for around 150 damage, but they hit quick. Slow is a must if you don't want to burn mana.
They proc shadow step very often, so if you have to tank them you will end up all over the shop, and probably in trouble. If you aren't a pet or kiting class, you really need to be grouped for safety reasons.
The really annoying thing about these spiders, apart from them being able to phase in and out of visibility, is that you have to be right next to them to cast on them. I had to have my pet follow me, engage a spider and then hope that he didn't get gated before I'd gotten slow off. After that, I'd head back to the ZO, and sure enough within seconds my pet would join me :P
The zone itself is really creepy, and I'm sure had I been there longer I would have experienced some of the nasty traps that exist in abundance.

That seems to be a common characteristic of many mobs in this zone, hehe. Many mobs here (dragon constructs and entropy serpents as well as phase spiders) can only be casted on from melee range.
If you plan on trying to get one for yourself, be prepared for the long haul. Took approximately 120 kills to get mine. Spider in the back section, past the first set of doors, ended up dropping it for me. Good luck and happy hunting.

Just as a tad bit of info for druids, these things run as fast as SoW (SoE barely outruns them) so be prepared for a jog if Ensnare is resisted!

Umm, sorry but as of today, would have to agree with original poster... They do run at SoW speed, and SoE does barely outrun them. Maybe yours was defective. =p

Maybe the spider the lad with SoE out-ran didnt cast a run speed buff spell on its self first. These things seem to be casters afterall.

If you're just pulling them, use a fishbone dart and (with RS3) you'll still end up with a good lead on them when you get back to your group.
Just got mine today after hunting there with 2 guildies. there was me (54Beastlord) and then 61cleric and a 62Druid. was easy pulling as long as i kept it down to 1 or 2 spiders.
Firstly took about 40 -50 mobs to drop it maybe more I didn't really keep count but it was a couple of hours with my pet as MT. Anyways the invis potion dropped quite often in comparision about 6 or 7 times in total. Little trick i picked up is if you park you pet and tell him to guard then pull spiders to pet he cant gate your pet anywhere. since it will repop at guard site. this means you dont lose any time having to run back to mob.
anyways will drop of any spider just keep plodding along killing em, dont step on the bones, ramps or click the doors since this will trigger a trap in the form of 1) Dragon Construct or 2) Voracious Hatchlings (3/4 at a time) these have next to no hps though about 2-5K. and when hunting here becarefull pulling coz there are invis spiders which can not be seen with see invis or anyother spell and they will agro. can cause problems but we handled up to 3 spiders at a time although wouldnt recommend it.

Regarding your little trick. This I believe is incorrect. Basically, when the spiders gate pets the pet always ends up at the same location. For me, hunting near the ZO, this spot was just in front of the ZO pillar. If you by coincidence had ordered your pet to guard there, you might have got that impression. I experimented a bit, and regardless of where my pet was guarding, he always gated to that one point.

Anybody who plays a monk knows that lots of pieces are under 1 weight..some 0.1/0.0 . Lets say you have a T-staff (10 weight) and this (5 weight). You are currently at 15 weight. Your tink bag in inventory weighs 1...and everything inside it doesn't matter. So you are at 16 weight with bandages/food/drink/any other thing in a 100% bag. Lets say your other gear is velious quested armor. They weigh 0.1 a piece. Your hp rings/earrings are also 0.1 weight. Thats roughly 1.5 more weight. That puts you at 17.5 weight total. The weight limit at 42 is 17. Wearing this at anything above 42? NO PROBLEM =)
Amen. This item put me 1 stone over my weight limit (trying to cut weight on the rest of my armor) but ac made up for penalty, and then some. Plus rest of the stats are definitley worth it. Love the look on my iksar monk; looks like a light purple fearsome skyiton breastplate. Stats are awesome enough to overlook the weight, which I can make up elsewhere as long as the rest of my stuff is light.
I was wandering around the bazaar shoping about as always. When a level 65 necro gives me this bp for free.This bp rocks considering I'm level 31.G'luck for everyone else to get there PSC.

I got one of these a little while ago with my 45 warrior for 12k. Its very nice improvment to crafted BP. If you have the cash I would go out and buy one. they do great stats and good AC.

Had 2 of these drop last night within 10 minutes of each other, with one group consisting of 50pal, 57wiz, 60pal, 60mage, 60enc and 60cle. We killed about 30 or so near the entrance and a hand full of Dragon Constructs. Both mobs where easy for this group to take down but they do phase you on top of other spiders and to bones, which spawn the Constructs. I don't know how often these drop but I think we got lucky. Anyway it was a fun outing and both the 60cle and 50pal received a nice upgrade. I've seen the PSC sell for around 12k on Bristlebane.

I got mine from a guild raid the other night. Its a great BP, considering that rangers rarely get any decient bp drops. Anyway, I was quick to swap out my ugly old Bardic Ringmail in a heart beat.
Yes, granted that the Bardic Ringmail has 30AC, the PSC has better stats and looks much better on a Woodelf. Besides, the AC isn't all that bad.
Well, until I can get the Brestplate of the Untamed in Hate, I'll be holding on to this bad boy for a while.

I bought this bp for my paladin, the ac is not amazing but with all the stat increases, it is a good buy at 7500pp.it does have the plate look too so this is nice aswell.I would recomend this item to most classes including MONKS as i see some debat on that.I have a good friend who is 60th and wears this as a monk. He has his epic etc and like anyone is always looking for better but he says till he gets better this is a fine monk bp.

Heh, this is usually 14k on Druzzil. I've seen it as low as 10k sometimes though.
about 7-9K on veeshan (only goes up to 9k if they are the only vendor).

Had 2 of these drop for us last night while we were pulling spiders and Dragon Constructs..I won one of them..it was a FFA group that night since we all were wearing better..Just not sure if I want to give it to my Bard, Rogue or just sell it.Ya its better then what my alts have but there are also a few odds and ends i want for this char..ill figure it out..well good hunting and safe journey to all
just got mine yesterday. it took me awhile oget. but i was able to get it for 11k wich is a good deal for my server.. Fennin Ro. althougth it could look cooler, on a human.
