After extensive testing, I have found that I will be collecting dex gear for my wizard, and sacrificeing Int gear... as the dex will make my spells MUCH more effective than than haveing the mana to cast another resist, and I crit MUCH more often. Like I said, Int gear is gone, dex gear is in, and yes, I will have one of these.
I did this part a couple of weeks ago, had 2 groups with me 50 - 60.
After all the compulsory chitchat and giving the Symbol of Testing to Kazen, first spawned the Bone Golem, lvl 55, and we killed it with ease. It is 100% mr. It droped one, 1, of these earrings.
Then spawns the Failed Apprentice, he was blue to a lvl 53, and he dropped two Apprentice Rings, 3int 30mana 10hp, no drop and necro only.
Then spawned the Tormented Spirit, also lvl 55, and we kill that one also, easy. He drops the next symbol you need for the Necro epic.
That's basically it. Easy fight with two groups of assorted classes. A lvl 60 pally tanked, we had some rogues, a shammy, ranger, two clerics etc. Tank needed only a couple heals during the entire fight, so I would assume this is easy for a 55+ group also. So just buff up a little, make pets and go for it. No special resist gear needed (though Tormented Spirit feared me once) and you WILL do it pretty easy. The three mobs spawn close to the NPC's, about 30 feet from Kazen.
So Bone Golem drops this earring, Failed Apprentice drops the two rings and finally the Spirit drops the Symbol for the necro. And they drop these items every time, one earring and two rings. At least they did for myself and 5 other necros, so I do assume these drops are set ;)
I dunno about giving it to others who attended.. but for me and my guild stuff like this go to the one doing the epic, like a "grats" and a pat on the shoulder for getting this far. Others may do it differently though.
The Twisted Bone Earring drops from the Bone Golem... lvl 55, very very high MR with lots of hps... He is part of the Necro Epic (the 10th or 11th step) after handing in the Symbol of Testing to Kazen Fa`Cae. The golem can ONLY be triggered by handing in the Symbol... he is not a normal spawn. And there is no way around getting the Golem to spawn.. you have to start the Necro Epic from scratch... which I don't think most people are willing to do.
I am currently at this step and need to find some people to help kill these beasts (3 total).
Now.. granted this is great for an SK, but the only way they'll be able to get one is by buying it, or getting on a raid with a Necro that needs to fight the Golem. (but what necro wouldn't want this earring) Otherwise they'll have to do a good portion of the necro epic to do so. And anyone will question an SK (or anyone else for that matter) for rolling on the herb in Chardok (dropped by the Royal Sarnak Herbalist) as long as there are necro's on the raid.. this will never go to an SK. And the Herbalist isn't an easy spawn to get to.. you'd need at least 4 groups of 55+ people to handle the area and get down there, for the Herb is just before the Overking spawn. And, the Herbalist has PH's (Herbalist Apprentice) and doesn't always drop the Manisi Herb.
Hope this clears some things up for people, but once I get this earring.. I'll be wearing it.
Interesting opinion. I quite agree that the odds of a herb going to an SK are quite slim, and downright rude of an SK to request one over the necro.
However, if you were a necro in our guild doing this step, the earring wouldn't automatically be "yours", that would be akin to the cleric claiming the CoF from Ragefire as "his". Not happening. Our guild has a nice (imho) habit of awarding all 'superflous' items (any not required for the actual quest, ie: earring, cof's for clerics... etcetc) to those that attend the slaying of the epic mob. This is a sort of reward/'thank you' for assisting with another persons epic.
I noticed that you posted that you were on this step, perhaps you would have better luck aquiring assistance by offering the earring (should it drop) to those that attend and come to your aid.
... You need 5+ groups for the herb? A necro friend of mine drug me to do this portion of his epic in Chardok, and we were one helluva pickup rag-tag group... lol
We fought down and eventually got a mansini herb for him :) I can't complain... I got an SBS on my druid, and it was when they were an easy 16k sell :p
Ok I just got this on Bristlebane. I was in lake Rathe when someone shouted they needed some clerics for thier epic. They hand in something to Kazen Fecae and 3 undead creatures pop one after another after they are killed, the last one was a specter that dropped 2 of these and the necros epic piece.

I do agree somewhat with the SK it is a great item for them but also for the Pali and if your guild gets this only for the SK's then they are doing their Pali's a disservice.
I've heard that they are going to change this so 1/2 elf can wear, that would be awsome for me because my monk and bard could now wear...can anyone verify this rumour please?
I think he probably ment that his monk can allready wear it and if HEF was added in, his bard would also be able to wear it so he could switch it out as he saw fit. Very very poor wording, though. If I indeed inturperted it correctly.
dex to regain casting is questionable.. at best, we know for certain it helps with procs.. and SK's tend to melee with procing weapons more often than necros do, it's a kickass earring for both of them though :)
i think it would be better for rouges, who need the dex items, and the high int would help skills that level slow, (ie: backstab safe fall make/apply poison) actually maybe rouges AND monks because monks can use all the stats plus the ac

LOL errr wrong...ok now it does depend on how you play yer rogue but any rogue who has a proccing weapon knows, dex is vital to ensure plenty of procs....and also is a nice stat to have high....
If it wasn't for rogues then why is it a primary stat in the first place? ;)
FYI my rogue has high dex and agi and AC the three mains i consider worth it...oh and a nice average str....

I have never heard of anyone besides a necro starting the necro epic before, honestly. I am going to have to have some people try and see if they can complete the first couple steps. If they can, I'll assume they could do the whole thing and even have a nice necro epic sitting in their bank if they wanted to. That being said... the chances of anyone besides a necro triggering the battle required for this earring is very slim indeed. To do it, you need an annoying drop from the royal herbalist deep in Chardok. You'd likely be going in with a raid-like force as part of a chardok royals raid and pull the herbalist or his PH as well. Being that the herb is required for the necro epic, if there is even one necro without his herb on this raid, it would be automaticly be awarded to him. I suppose if no necros where there or if every single necro there allready had their herb, it might be randomed so that some SK can try to get his phat lewt. Also, at this point, you could take a guild necro allong with you and he could loot the drop required for the necro epic quest, thus getting some real use out of the herb beyond your leet earring.
I will still have to try to get a non-necro to start the necro epic, though. Interesting options if a class could work on another class's epic. You could basicly do someone's epic for them up to the last multiable step.

Great stats? He is obviously over level 20. Unless he only worked on leveling at the lower levels, ie. he didn't do any quests or sell bone chips/bat wings to higher levels, his INT should be alot higher than 139. Just my opinion though. I am not sure what humans INT starts at, but my DE SK is 21 and INT is already at 153. Granted this is the only stat I am trying to really raise. I have no need for additional WIS, maybe some dex, agi, and sta. But those seem to be doing fine as most of my INT gear bumps at least one of those areas a little. Just my 2cp
ARE YOU GUIYS FORGETTING 20HP?????????? That can be the differeence in zoning or dying muchless killing and getting xp?!?! 5dex...20HP WTF would u rather have.
GURKAMORKA 16th Shadow Knight Xegony Legacy of Savior Knights Officer
I'll take the AC and DEX over the 20 hp. With mobs that hit for 150+, that extra 20 hp's not gonna matter much.. if I'm running to the zone I'm probably already dead.
This dropped during the portion in Lake Rathetear, it dropped off one of 3 nasties that spawned... don't count on solo farming this. Also, this is not required for the epic, just a bonus item that drops during this step. If its easy to get the parts up till this step, you and some friends could do it.
One other mob dropped 2 apprentice rings, no drop, necro only (sorry, don't know stats).
We brought like 24 people to this... overkill... 12 skilled folks 54+ could probably handle this without too much difficulty.
