If you don't cut a lot of different augs very frequently, these are great space savers. You'll just have to combine the one tool through the cycle until you get the shape you want. One tool to make a lot of different things.
It is used to cut augs in this form but also makes aug setting jewelry. Solo/Duo/Trio.
If however you'll be cutting a lot of augs and switching back and forth frequently I recommend putting one of each shape into a bag. That way you can use Combine and Auto Inventory while in the trade skill window and skip the cycle-through in the experiment window. You can always put them all to the same shape for more efficient long-term storage when you're done.

Put the Square Cut Tool in a Jeweler's bag and hit combine. You receive a Round Cut Tool...repeat for more shapes.
