Found!

These seem to drop exclusively from Coldspine Seahorses.

During our first several trips to the Grotto we found a large number of these ancient seahorse hide cloaks, but since the last patch and several more trips we haven't seen any. I think they might have changed the frequency for these to drop.

As another below said earlier this is a fairly common drop. I believe we got them off of seahorses. One was either the first or second mob we killed right at the entrance to SG. Boosted my poor AC hungry warrior's raw AC by 12 pts!

This is now the highest AC Cloak in the game since they fixed the Lodizal shield a patch or two ago.

Not true. Loyalist Shield of Honor ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=15971 ) has 50 AC

Why would you pay 50k?
# May 17 2001 at 9:02 PM Rating: Default
Chetari Bone Shield is 19 AC and has +10 save vs fire. If someone is offering you 50k, i suggest you sell it like yesterday.

Karde - Sol Ro

ps: chetari bone shields go for 3-5k

I understand that it's random, and not even that rare. My guildmate said that 4 of them dropped in one night...

... and I wasn't there. /cry

20AC? now ya know whatever seahorse drops this is thick skinned. Heh. I know us AC hoggin' hybrid meleers - and warriors too for that matter - could easily find this as the end all of cloaks (unless of course you can get Lozdial's shell). Since the Grotto is so much easier now, items like this are ripe for the taking. Just take in a decent raid and kill every seahorse, walrus, or siren that looks at ya crosseyed ;-)
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 18 2001 at 11:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dang more people saying dang newbs um to some of us everyone is a newb, should I say that every time I post? I think not woot,,,shut your mouth. But hey at least they let monks pretend to wear it. hehe Question when did seahorses get fat?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 06 2001 at 11:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Says it's a magic item not NODROP
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 9:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It WOULD be a good idea to send in a correction, not just rely that someones gonna see your post. LoL, newbs.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 9:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You are such a ***, Zer0. At level 10 most people like you would know that they could say that after sending a correction.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 06 2001 at 10:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As posted on the Sony boards... Monks do not even want access to these heavy items... So someone tell Verant to stop it already!
RE: Monks?
# Feb 07 2001 at 12:37 AM Rating: Default
when my monk was younger.. say under 15
there was not that big of a ac drop for being overloaded.. stuff like this would be fine fer baby monks.. over 15 the ac bonus fer being under 14 stones comes into being very important..but then again in a group with 2 tanks and the monk being a puller/damage dealer. i can see wearing heavy gear as long as there are decent stats involved(long as you are'nt being beaten on)
well my opinion

That class listing is just a general "no pure casters" group. A monk is not a pure caster, so although no monk in his/her right mind would actually use it, they still could
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 3:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its all about choice if you want to use this by all means do but if you do you got that wt problem if you think the stats and AC are worth it then why not but im sure no monk i know would even think about it
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 3:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have no clue what the person above just said.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 6:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) maybe your mom can wear it too idiot
LMAO
# Feb 07 2001 at 8:22 PM Rating: Default
I have to agree, If you wanna wear this item, go for it (I know my rog will) but if not, DONT. People like you give EQ a bad name.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 7:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) his mom can wear it, so long as she's not an int caster
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 9:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) or a druid...
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 8:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) His mom uses an *** master for a weapon and her armor is a robe of the benevolent housewife, LMAO.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2001 at 3:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, if your the damage dealer in the group, and have tanks so you not getting hit, then there is no point in having this cloak cause it only give HP and AC. You dont need any of those when dealing out damage.
