This item seriously puts doubt in my mind that Everquest is still worth playing. I mean, what is next?

Cool man. I'll see you in anguish while I'm soloing with my enchanter then.

That's fine....if you could solo in Anguish, big deal. Even though, I guarantee, if you were fully equipped with items like these and could get into Anguish by yourself, the mobs there would laugh as a yellow river flowed from under your robe. That is beside the point though.
The actual point is Anguish is pushing what? 2 years now. Can you solo Luclin zones now? Most likely. What does having an item like this change? Absolutely nothing. What was EQ like after a few had looted a Whorl of Unnatural Forces? Did everyone say, "Well, that sure is better than my Tae Ew Shield. Emerald Jungle will not be a challenge anymore. I guess I'll just quit playing."?
As expansions are added mobs get stronger.....so I suppose they keep everything the same level as OOW or GoD. I am sure that would make everyone run to buy the new expansions so they could get on those raids and loot items exactly like the ones they have now. Would that make EQ worth playing more?
If seeing items like this make you doubt whether you should keep playing, then sac yourself down to level 50 equip your rusty dagger and raw-hide whatever and head over to Scarlet Desert. Yeah, tons of fun there.
There will always be new and more challenging content that will require your raid force to be better equipped. Otherwise, what would be the point in raiding at all? The one and only point in raiding is to get better items and make your toon and guild/raid/group stronger, so you can tackle the harder stuff and get even better loot. That's what makes the EQ world go 'round.
This is not meant to flame you in any way. It's just some food for thought.

Does anyone even zone into Luclin zones anymore? Since when has making old zones obsolete been a good thing? This expansion (and these items) have erased 8 years of gameplay, for a small percentage of the players who are actually able to get items like this. Prophecy of Ro released items that had 50hp/mana more than items that came out of Depths of Darkhallow. Apparently that wasn't enough because the only thing I heard from high end guilds were cries and complaints. The items coming out of this expansion are a whopping 100hp/mana more than PoR. Basically, at the rate EQ is going, we'll be seeing 1000hp/mana items by the end of this year.

As there other posters have stated, alot of people still go to Luclin zones. I still go there at level 75 just for fun. I also level and gear my alts in those zones.

The way I see it, you are making an arguement where there is none to be had. It is simply a non-issue. You can't start a character, level it up, and instantly get items like this. You still have to progress. So you still have to go through some of the older zones. Therefore, they are not obsolete. It would be difficult to get the 300hp/mana items without first having the 200hp/mana items and the 400 without the 300....etc.

As for the complaints, I heard very little. Must not have been that big of a deal.

As for the 1000hp/mana items....as Lochrin stated, it will be 3-4 years before you see that, by then there will be zones with trash that hits for 6-9k.

It is the way this game has always been. This is not anything new. It happened from the first expansion to the second and it will happen with every new release from now till the game ends. Why should it now become a problem?

So, if they DIDN'T offer upgrades each expansion, exactly how would they keep people interested in playing their main characters.

Personally, I play a lot of alts, so yes, I go back to the velious zones, and in fact, some even older (particularly fond of the hotzones).

The thing being, I've done them before, know them quite well, and would get tired of playing alts, if I did not also get to do new things, and continue to build my main character.

What makes EQ nice, is the fact you can't "wn" the game. As you beat it, they add more, keeping things fresh, so you can continue to upgrade.

And as far as people compaining about TSS gear, it was not complaints about the hp/mana, but moreso complaints about weak mod2s on the gear, meaning that people had to choose between upgrading hp/mana, vs losing shielding/spell shielding/dot shielding/stun resist, strikethrough, +attack, etc.

Also, the apparent downgrade in some of the foci. For example, the focus on this, is 20% mana pres, which is a downgrade from the 23% on some previous gear.

Yes they do .. zone into luclin. all the time.

And as for 1000 hp /mana items ? try 3-4 years. at least. Bumping it any faster would be overkill. 21 slots... with 1000hp's each.. without buffs/aa's would put you over 21k hp.. which means yard trash/exp mobs would need 1 mill hp each just to be a challange.....

This is off an end zone mob thats a lot of work to get too.. not like it's being handed out with the cookies..
