This is trivial at 335. At Max skill I seem to Fail about Half of the combines.

All black. You outfit yourself in tunic, arms, bracer, legs and feet you will be basically painted black from the neck down (leather base graphics, but simple straight black in color). Honestly have never seen the BP cap though.

The problem with the black pantherskin gear is that it is usually only a very minor upgrade to the stuff it would replace. At 5000 pp per piece, it simply isn't worth it. It is more worthwhile to save the money for other items or to spend your time camping other items rather than saving up for these.

The weight limit for monks was raised after Verant made all the trade kits (such as large sewing kits) that we were using to carry stuff weigh three pounds instead of 0.4 or 0.5 or whatever they were before. Of course, the people that posted about the weight were referring to the OLD weight of this stuff, not the newer, lighter version. Monks carry a few items that weigh more than they would like, but they only do this when the item is exceptional. These items would not have been exceptional enough to warrant their old weight.

The weight limit increases that monks received a while back were very nice, but weight is still a serious, serious consideration, even for a level 60 monk. This is especially true because of the weights on some of the weapons and some of the better items that monks can equip. Take barbed dragonscale boots for example. They are definitely worth their weight, BUT if you have a few items like that, they add up.

Ok heres the skinny on what makes these and all Black Pantherskin gear better than the Acrylia Reinforced. The total stats talk louder than a single item.

BP AR
ac89 ac94
str46 str47
dex46 dex0
sta33 sta38
wis0 wis20
agi22 agi0
hp85 hp24
SvM 0 SvM 9
total wt. 4.7 total wt. 5.6

As you can see, the stats for BP is much better for monks. The AR is much better for Bst because of wisdom and magic stats..as well as the obvious wt. difference. I hope this helps clear up the differences for those of you who are trying to figure out which is best for you.

With the recently introduced Acrylia Reinforced armors, it has practically shut out the Velious Black Panther armors.

Acrylia is easier to make (180 skill or so will do it), the components a little more plentiful, and is cheaper to buy on the open market.

Black Panther requires a 225+ skill tailor and requires hours of hunting panthers in Wakening Lands to get your hands on pelts. Generally sells for 2x the cost of the Reinforced Acrylia.

Only advantage of the Black Panther? It has a neat look...

Granted some BP pieces are better then the Reinforced Acrylia...but not by much

Lets not forget the fact that there is also studded armor, the boots alone are AWESSOME ac8 9sta 9dex 6str or something awesome boots for less then 1k, i'd take them over BP any day.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 21 2002 at 1:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) SERIOUSLY YOU MUST NOT BE A TAILOR...FIRST OFF YOU HAVE TO GET ALL THE COMPONENTS, THEY ARE NOT STORE BOUGHT..NOW THESE COMPONENTS ARE PRETTY RARE TOO AND SOME NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IF YOU HAVE A GENERIC VID CARD LIKE I HAVE<<GEFORCE2 MX NON BRANDED>>WITH THESE CARDS YOU CANNOT SEE SOME OF THE GRAPHICS LIKE WATERFALLS OR SPECIFIC SPAWNS ON THE GROUND LIKE THE LEAVES NEEDED TO BREW FOR THIS ARMOR..ANYWAYS,WITH THE TIME IT TAKES TO GET THESE COMPONENTS PLUS THE RARITY OF THEM AND WORST YET A SKILL OF 225+ TO HAVE CHANCE AT ALL OF MAKING THEM YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE PRICE..NOW GRANTED 5K IS A BIT STEEP..I PERSONNALY GO LIKE 3500 MYSELF WHICH IS STILL WELL WORTH IT AND WITH THE NEW WEIGHT OF THESE ITEMS THERE IS NO BETTER UNLESS YOUR HITTING ToV...JUST MY 2CP

I don't see what the problem is here. The weight for a monk is excellent, and the stats are to die for. I would love to have this armor. I'm sure there is better armor out there, but for me this is it. Oh and the weight limits have indeed changed. Every 15 lvls you get an up in weight. I also use my hand to hand and so don't use weapons, and probably never will. Weapons are too heavy anyway. So I say way to go for this armor.

Logged on last night and the new weight for the leggings is 0.6 !!!!! Very nice... and also the boots have been changed to 0.5 I now weigh 3.4 less than before. This change combined with the upgrade on my Spider Fur Belt in the 6/27 patch, I feel like a lottery winner!!!
These have been made lighter in today's patch!!!

WOOOOT!!! These have been made lighter today, now I don't feel so bad about paying through the nose for these things! Not sure how much lighter but I'll certainly find out this evening. Of all the Black Pantherskin items these were the most disproportionately heavy, finally a whole suit of this makes a lot of sense. Now if I can just get the gloves... anyone on Lanys T'Vyl have a set to sell me?
#REDACTED, Posted: May 20 2001 at 6:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All you monks are spoiled anyway, I am glad they have a sense of humor at verant. LOL
#Anonymous, Posted: May 04 2001 at 12:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Are you all too stupid to reallize, they dropped the upgraded the level monks are allowed now at lower levels. It gos up 10 weight every 15 levels if I can remember correctly. So this armour is very good now. Everyone who wrote that monks only get weight upgrades at 50+ now are morons and shouldn't play monks because they are incapable of reallizing change. About 10 posts say that this armour sucks because of the weight. Well the weight has changed for monks, and so this armour went from sucking to actually very good. Now lower level monks can make a killing with buying this armour at low prices from those morons who do not reallize that the monks weight has changed. Do NOT post anymore about this armour sucking because it doesn't. Also do not post anymore about the monks weight limit, because thats not an issue any more.
umm 10 weight?

hmm.. 10 weight? you sure you don't mean 1.0 ? BIIGGG differance there

I still prefer Drakkel Wolfhide Leggings over these.. but then again what do I know, I'm just a monk :)

also note that Hand Woven Leggings are... CONSIDERABLY easier to get, same ac, same weight, only stats are a big chunk of fire sv though.. which in some cases would be better anyways
RE: umm 10 weight?
# Feb 19 2003 at 1:42 PM Rating: Default
are you sure the weight is the same? Says 3.0 for hand woven legs on the site?? just checking cause those would definitely be worth going after if they're same wt as BP
#Anonymous, Posted: May 03 2001 at 12:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I will buy these if someone has them or can make them on the Lanys T'Vyl server. Send tell to Seda Shadowfist or email me at fhall353@swbell.net ...and I will pay well!
Weight limits
# Apr 23 2001 at 1:12 AM Rating: Default
now that they made the weight limit jumps every 15 levels this is feasible armor. Even the leggings are good for monks, and honestly, my monk is at 14 weight at level 25 (now 1 stone under his limit), and he has 4.0 stone gloves, and 1.0 stone weapons, as well as 1.0stone bracers (like these) and a drolvarg mantle (which is heavier than the BPS mantle). So honestly with the new weight limits, after about 35 this stuff looks pretty damned good.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 25 2001 at 6:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) How much do these things usually cost?

Real monks know this set blows
# Feb 26 2001 at 4:41 PM Rating: Default
i wonder how many non-monks post on these boards. true monks know this set blows. its too heavy to be worth while, and the pieces that are not too heavy, one can easily get something better. if a monk is high enough level (55+) to be able to handle the weight, he Should have items 10X better than this junk. when you compare this to other classes, ANY other class, we get shafted on armor. <sigh> but i doubt verant will change things, i doubt other classes or low lvl monks (that say this is good armor)will truly understand.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 26 2001 at 3:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) how f'ing stupid is this gear anyhow...

I recommend you check out www.eqtraders.com for this. The message boards there also carry a good discussion if you have questions.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 01 2001 at 2:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the 3.0 weight rules it out of ANY monk's equipment list. Other than the truly clueless. for 3.0 I could upgrade foreman's to Lockjaw, (+1.5wt +2ac), and add a fighting baton (+1wt & greatly improving my attack.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 02 2001 at 4:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OMG 3 wt! How can my monk go on? I must commit seppuku immediately...Ack! Gurgle.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 26 2001 at 1:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) funny if i remeber at lvl 55 you can carry 19 in weight and at 60 you can carry 26 so i don't think you will see to many lvl 30s killing these panthers think before you trash some thing
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 26 2001 at 3:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) no still worthless the extra wt at those levs will be taken up by the stupid hvy weapons they are feeding us so we still will be over wt.
RE: Worthless
# Feb 01 2001 at 3:42 PM Rating: Default
I don't think the weight is such an issue as much as the fact that they're just not that super good. I am wearing Kromrif Militia Leggings and they are 4wt, but have 14ac 6str 5wis 5vs cold and 5vs disease. I can put up with the weight for those stats, and the quest is quite easy.
RE: Worthless
# Feb 26 2001 at 4:51 AM Rating: Default
OK. i want my monk to wear pants that weigh 4 too, hehe, really dumb post kinda like this one
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 02 2001 at 7:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah because we monks need all the wisdom we can get... some peoples kids LOL
RE: Worthless
# Feb 01 2001 at 6:50 PM Rating: Default
no, the weight is the problem. the extra weight can go to something much better like a hero bracer or an idol of the thorned.
RE: Worthless
# Feb 01 2001 at 9:45 PM Rating: Default
I think the gear is more aimed towards the higher lvl monks. At around lvl 50 you get a raise in the amout of crap you can carry untill your ac dropps, like 50 weight if I remember correctly
RE: Worthless
# Feb 02 2001 at 1:59 PM Rating: Good
Ok...do only newbies visit this site and comment?

Monks weight restriction:

Lvl 1-54=14.9
Lvl 55-59=18.9
Lvl 60=22.9

As a lvl 57 monk, I could easily wear a full set of black pantherskin armor and stay under my weight limit. The pantherskin is also better than my planar armor, Shiverback, in many areas.
RE: Worthless
# Feb 26 2001 at 3:19 PM Rating: Default
well shiver has always been a total joke and try using this armor with some of the upper end weapons...if you dont want to get the hell beat out of you, you are using a 2hb weapon and most of the commonly obtainable ones are around 10wt.

sorry i still think it blows with just a stat comparison not counting ac with the rogue gear...
RE: Worthless
# Feb 26 2001 at 4:58 AM Rating: Decent
well maybe only newbs and people who dont play monks cause monks all act like newbs anyways and are only played by newbs

=P

for example: when you are at skill 165 in 1H slash and got a nice runner snared in a tunnel and have a shot to hit it 300 times at level 44, and then you see a crap *** monk coming, what do you think will happen. The newb *** pos will probably dragon kick it and then go woot and ask for sow and maybe even a tp.

Monks are just plain *** stupid as hell!!
Poseur Monks was RE: Worthless
# Mar 11 2001 at 2:55 PM Rating: Default
I know the answer to that question...
The dumass wizzie will womble over with his new nuke and WHAM!! then proceed to ask "Did you see how much I hit that fer...didja huh dija?? Oh can you buff me..."
sound of ssshhhhhhhh as I gate back to the start of the tunnel and wait for the next mob.
Oh in regards to the armor. Nice that it can be made imo. No more planar camps required...More made stuff less ridiculous camping. Like that essence of shadow crap. Absolute BS Verant. Lift your game a little...
Dex and Str
# Feb 02 2001 at 3:20 PM Rating: Default
***** the weight. My monk has Iksar Scaled gloves which are 4.0wt. He's under his 14.9 stone limit. Could I work these into his equip? Of course. Am I going to? Hell no, its so incredibly hard to get these. I'll just get some crescent leggings 8)

BUT the 4str and 5dex are indeed nice, as str ups DMG output, and the 5dex would help if you have wu's sticks or some other proccing weapon 8).
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 01 2001 at 6:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) They seem a little heavy for a monk...but the stats are kinda nice :)
RE: Hmm...
# Feb 01 2001 at 6:55 AM Rating: Default
most all of the Black Panther armor is.. excessive, and seems geared mostly to 50+ players with the weight increases. I still hope much of it is a glitch, and that they will lighten it. course, it's better than certain planes armor.. But a full suit of Black Panther nears 14.0 on its own. bit heavy.
RE: Hmm...
# Feb 01 2001 at 5:22 PM Rating: Decent
Yah but no one is gonna wear a full suit of it unless the look is just super-cool. There are several pieces which probably many folks will not wear, such as the skullcap (froggie crown has better ac) and the mask (sarnak hide and cougarskin are better)...
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 06 2001 at 3:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I find it interesting that the only pieces of this that would be worth wearing are the visible ones 8). That's a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it looks neat and has nice stats, bad because everyone and their uncle will be after the components for it 8(
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 01 2001 at 8:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, my monk will be getting and wearing the gloves, boots, and leggings. The leggings are heavy, but I use my hand to hand, so I can use the Hero bracer as well, and still be under the weight limit.
