Just a few thoughts

because it all comes down to personal preference and what the character is missing., there are FEW cases where the loot is "OMG WHAT ARE YOU AND IDIOT X IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN Y".

The debate over this tends to come down to +'s and really what you are after...
Chooseable Focus effects/Marginal Shielding or Avoidance vs A static item that has a single focus and good shielding and avoidance

The stats are roughly the same: a GM BP with an equivalent aug will only be 20hp less (40 HP for Armor, 105 HP for Symbol, 210 HP for Last Blood) 355 base vs Fallen Saint's 375 base.

The +'s to the Fallen Saint are:
Combat Effects: +15 Shielding: +5% Avoidance: +15 Accuracy: +25 Attack: +35 Regeneration: +10 Mana Regeneration: +4 Haste: +45%

The +'s to the GM based on a Shielding Aug are:
Shielding: +2% Accuracy: +7 Stun Resist: +2% DoT Shielding: +2% Attack: +25 Regeneration: +2 Damage Shield: +1

The +'s to the GM based on an Avoidance Aug are:
Avoidance: +9 Regeneration: +2 Mana Regeneration: +3 Damage Shield: +3
Spell Shield: +2% Stun Resist: +2% DoT Shielding: +2% Damage Shield: +1

Typically the MAIN difference and attraction TO the GM Armour vs Fallen Saint is the AC.... Except for this case. Putting a flameshield stone (or any other aug) in this (25 AC) yields the following:

GM Armor (99) + Flameshield (25) + GM Symbol (0) + Last Blood (45) = 169 AC
Fallen Saint (143) + Flameshield (25) = 168 AC

This really isnt the case as other GM Armours are superior in Fallen Saint armours, for example the Fallen Saint Helm vs GM Helm: 81 for Fallen Saint, 104 for GM (59 for the Helm and 45 for the Last Blood).

Really it comes down to what you are missing. If you are overcapped as Tanks should be in Shielding and Avoidance at this stage in the game, then you are just looking to get additional AC, HP and whatever other goodies are in the armour.

For some, this case usually comes down to the DKP vs PP cost. Our guild for instance this goes for 60 DKP which is about 3 weeks worth of raiding (4 nights a week) vs the Last Blood which goes for 7 DKP and can either be bought for the investment of 1 Sunday night raid or 2 weekday raids.

If you have the PP and want to save up for other slots for DKP purchaseable gear, than the GM armour is STILL a decent choice at this stage in the game. If you dont have the connecitons and really dont want to spend ~250k depending on what route you go, then the Fallen Saint Armour is probably worth lookinig into.

Honestly, the instrument mods on Demi gear is a slap in the face. If you're a bard, in THIS zone, and you don't have your 2.0....that's just sad. Overall does this stuff kick ***? Hell yes, don't get me wrong. I'm jsut saying that mods on this stuff that are this low, at this level of content, is worthless.

Maybe you'll be looking to bag your epic soon, but without the eqivilent mods on gear you won't be able to. Remember how long bards were tied to their first epic because it took so long to get all the worn mods back then.

What our last poster fails to realise is that his cited GM armor contains a end game aug which is sort of but not really a craft item in the sense your talking about, but requires a no drop raid loot. The final combine is made by whomever loots the Last Blood.

Last Blood Seal

So lets put that aug in this item...

The only thing I could really see making the crafted BP better, would be a completed bic aug in slot 7 which would give you another 8 AC and about 130hp + some small resists. Still youd be missing out on Haste, shielding, Combat effects...etc..

Care to explain how you plan to fit the TYPE 12 Last Blood augment into the TYPE 8 slot on the Fallen Saint BP?
RE: ORly?
# May 31 2006 at 11:05 AM Rating: Default
Yeah, with a crowbar. Fixed

Anyway, I thought on this topic some more. If you had maybe a BIC aug in slot 7 youd add a bit more AC/Resist/HP to the crafted BP and IMO would make it on PAR or slightly bette. But then your spending craptons of plat and if you can get the BIC and the Last Blood you can probably also get this drop so why spend the money?

You are missing the point. A last blood augment CANNOT fit in the fallen saint armor, ever, in any way.

So even your edited post, is claiming stats that are not possible.

You have to compare GM BP + GM aug, +last blood + BiC, vs Fallen saint + BiC. Or replace BiC with any other aug, since that slot would likeley be filled with the same aug, no matter which you choose.

Personally, I'd still give the edge to the fallen saint armor for the pile of % modifiers, but that would really depend on what other gear the person has.

If you're capped on the effects that are useful to you, the GM/last blood might be better, especially in the case of my guild, where the Last blood drop only costs 30 DKP, and the fallen saint bp (when we get one)will be over 100 dkp. Don't forget that last bloods drop in tier 1 demi, and in sverag, off far easier mobs than the tier 2 demi BP droppers.

I still prefer this one.

OK we got in a debate over this the other night. A guy was complaning about not being able to afford GM gear but didnt want the best gear in the game. I stated that the GM gear is the best gear in the game and I had several people dissagree with me. One of them said that this is the best bp in the game (the Cuirass of the Fallen Spirit)for base stats (though he added this after I showed him the stats for the BP I listed below.

So just curious what everyone prefers? I can see some stats on the Bp I wouldnt mind (the haste is nice, but can be gained elsewhere though not at the same level, as well as the combat effects.)

and yes I am aware of how expensive the one listed below is. But I still think its better than the Fallen spirit bp.

Without adding in the slot 7, the GM BP with a Lastblood aug is pretty sweet, and honestly just as good in many regards. The one thing though, is the difference in shielding. The shielding with your last blood is spell and dot. Fallen saint has regular shielding. Sure you might have other items with shielding, but looking through shielding items, you are cutting out one of the few slots with alot of shielding items. Pick and choose as you see fit.

To the previous Nay sayers. The Fallen Saint BP is very marginally better then a GM with Last blood. And since you can choose what kind of focus you put on the last blood, you can have say Improved Dodge V or Cleave V. Then what? Blown away? Not by any stretch of the imagination. Fallen saint would have 25 HP 1 total shielding more a few really nice combat effects, but its still only a marginal upgrade, if you DON"T consider the effect.

Personally I would want the Teir 2 BP, but I'm a crazy SK.

cuirass of the fallen saint has better stats than the gm one (if you remove the coldain aug)

Id take the Fallen Saint over that any day. The Cultural armor is great dont get me wrong, but it only begins to stand up to this with all three aug slots filled. Throw a single aug into the dropped chestpiece and imho, it blows it away. Being able to pick your focus with the last blood aug IS a nice thing though.

Its likely the drops from Mistmoore, since they seem to be like things from other nameds, aren't unique to him. Considering the orginal slayers didn't get anything that looked, well, overly orginal, I'm guessing they had bad luck in the way of drops (balancing out their good luck in not whiping!), and there's more surprises Mistmoore has in his suit.
