I prefer SS Boots
# Dec 16 2001 at 12:50 PM Rating: Default
Aside from argueing over AC vs stats, I see these and SS boots virtually identical except for the one reason I'd take SS boots anyday. Levitation! I use the lev from the ss boots ALL the time. My groups always ask for it as well. Sure we can use the song of travel, but one pop from a mob that sees thru invis and its gone. A party member gets too far away from me and they fall for who knows how much damage. The lev aspect is just so useful is so many situations I don't think I'll ever trade them out for different boots.

Comparing Skyshrine boots with Thurgadin boots is somewhat lame since the SkyS-boots require a higher lvl force to attain and thus *should* be better than the Thurg boots.

when he says SS boots he's talking about Singing Steel....note the part about Levitation.

2 STR 3 CHA is in no way in hell worth more than 2 AC. I don't know WHO gave people the idea that stats mean so much (probably carry-over from D&D and those types of RPGs) but unless you're a caster, in which case your WIS/INT does obviously start mattering a lot once you get decently high in level, higher stats mean practically nothing.

In general, Resonant has less AC than singing steel, and doensn't nearly have enough extra stats to make that up. The only pieces I'd bother with are the legs and bp, because to get the SS versions you need to go on large raids, hope the piece drops, and then hope you win it. By the time you can do these quests, it shouldn't be difficult to get any other SS piece (although the bracer is kind of a pain too)

dont talk about what u dont know u moron... if u ever grp u know a good ard doesnt get agro. even after mezzing and charming i dont get agro cuz i play song of dawn. anyways i solo and the 3 cha is much better than 2 more ac... i bag SS boots and if you wear them your are waisting your time.

Before you get so quick to cast judgement, compare these to the Melodic Boots found in the Plane of Growth. These have one more CHA than Melodic. Then take a look at the TOTAL stats for Melodic, Lambent, Singing Steel, and Imbrued. I for one, am not even going to bother with Singing Steel. By the time I can start hunting for SS, I can start hunting for Melodic and Resonant. I betcha the total stats on Resonant will BLOW SS OUT OF THE WATER!!!!!!!!!!

Sure, you can get Singing Steel if you want to be a statless bard.

Doh! I use my singing steel boots still, very rarely do i bother to switch out to my steelslave boots simply because i'm a levitation junky, mebbe i should get into the habit of switching them like i do all my other clicky items, just seems i use them too often to bother
i agree

2str is worthless, the amount of str it takes to make any difference in melee is pretty big, about 10. imho ss has these beat 21 acand easily obtained.

Compared to Singing Steel Boots, these are simply not worth the effort. The only possible use for these are for bards with critically low strength.

I think the above two replies are missing the point... Singing Steel Boots grow on trees... they are EASY to get. These boots on the other hand, not so easy to get. Why spend 4 days raiding and hoping you win the lottos for the gems and and the boot piece (4 items) to quest for these boots, when you can have nearly identical boots for a small price, or just tough it out and get some xp in karnors until they drop. Sure, the 2str and 3 cha might (and probably are) worth more than 2 ac and summon water... but I wouldn't be rushing out to get these over other items that I could camp for and get in less time then it takes to do this quest. Alot of work for a minor upgrade imo.

You're saying those stat won't make a difference? What about the 2AC? Ooooh...I can just see myself starting to tank with the improvement there =P

And c'mon..you got lvl16 twinks with singing steel. I myself would rather have something that's different for a change. The only singing steel i see worth having are the BP and the greaves, and those are not that much easier to get than resonant.

I don't know, the AC is only 2 less, and you get some stats instead of that mostly useless Summon Water effect.
