Slippery Attacks
# May 25 2008 at 12:43 AM Rating: Default
Slippery Attacks -- This ability makes it more difficult for opponents to reposte your offhand attacks. Each rank increases the chance that your opponent will fail to reposte by 20%.

If I were to duel wield and eat rage with a trophy or cup in the primary, I would not take any extra damage. I do it all the time on raids. Now I can't say for sure if Slippery Attacks is a strike thru, but I do know I get a strike thru message when Slippery Attacks triggers. However, if it is just a strike than the claim that strike thru doesn't avoid damage is false.

Since Slippery Attacks cancels reposte there is no reason not to use fast weapons in secondary. Fast weapons are great. With Sinister Strikes you get some damage bonus. I haven't gone into it myself but there is claim that damage bonus is 1/3rd the delay of the weapon.

I can tell you right now without even looking that 2.0 in primary and swiftcleave will out dps and out aggro the BBoB and 2.0. The BBoB is primary hand only. Because of this the better weapon (2.0) ends up in secondary. The ratio of Swiftcleave is far better than BBoB. So much so that the much envied Anger proc doesn't matter.

I believe the consensus on the WAR community on the "BBOB vs Swiftcleave" topic is that Swiftcleave will produce gradual steady aggro, while the Brutish Blade Of Balance will produce HUGE amounts of hate on a sporadic basis.

Are you a tank by the way, Basicxp? Your post sounds like you're premising everything on how aggro works by dps alone.

Also, there is a problem with your theory on placing your 2.0 in the primary hand slot and Swiftcleave in the other, as this method will reduce overall swing speed. Therefore you will ultimately lose dps anyway.

Been seeing many tanks use this in secondary with their 2.0 in primary. I was told it's so they don't get riposted as much while tanking. I can see the reason for it, but really...if your going to offhand a 19dly weapon why not just stick with the bbob/2.0 instead of the 2.0/swiftcleave?

If WARs are going to dual this with their epic, they should at least make sure that their strikethrough is maxxed to avoid those awful ripostes.

I think BBOB is a much much better tanking weapon than Swiftcleave; shielding, slightly higher delay (less ripostes makes a whole lot of difference), higher damage, more ac, and the proc produces much more aggro.

Swiftcleave is somewhat of a downgrade now that I think about it.

One: Strikethrough has nothing to do with avoiding ripostes, it just allows you to bypass defenses.

Two: As the poster stated warriors are using this in their offhand where with AA they get 0 ripostes.

Seems like a nice dps/aggro weapon not sure on comparison to bbob in offhand.

Isn't this implied in my earlier statement, my patronizing replier?

Why would a WAR want to use this in their offhand slot? Usually we have our main aggro weapons set in the primary.

BBOB in the offhand? Thanks for the lulz!

K, sec. You said:

So no, it's not implied. Strikethrough lets you hit through ripostes, but you still take the damage from the riposte. It does nothing to reduce your damage intake, it only maintains damage output through defensive abilities.

It's largely a matter of preference as to which hand, and also the mob you are fighting. Many prefer to offhand it to avoid the ripostes. Others prefere to mainhand it, where it has better overall aggro generation.

It is not an aggro upgrade (rather, it's a sidegrade) to the Brutish Blade; they are very close in aggro generation, the main difference being that the Swiftcleave has a more gradual increase vs the big jumps from the proc on the BBoB.

i'm not a warrior nor tank, but it's a lot of better stats, and not to mention BBoB is ridiculously rare from tacvi, this is more common i think :P
To Tanks or not to Tanks that is the question.

As a warrior I can Honestly say this is One weapon I would want. To those that believe it should be given as a DPS weapon I would have to Contest that.
Main concern in Tanking is 1st and foremost Holding aggro.

I cant tell you how many times I let someone take aggro from me on trash mobs because I did not want to use or was trying to rebuild Endurance for the next named raid mob.

Tanks need decent Aggro generating weapons and not have to compete with a RNG/BRD/ROG who has this weapon equipped. I know there would be alot of RNG/BRD/ROG Deaths when clearing in to a Mob, Because my take on it is, if you want the aggro then Ill let you have it. ( Note I only mean this on the trash Mobs.) I will hold 100% aggro on any raid Mob I dont like playing aggro ping pong with those>>>> Thus the reason I save Endurance and let my weps taunt for me.

There are alot of good Non Aggro DPS weapons for the classes Listed and I suggest they hold out for them ie:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=45305
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=51115 > 880 DD Proc

The only good that can come of DPS classes with aggro generating weapons is PING PONG AGGRO! I dont know too many healers that like healing in that scenario.

Just My 2cents there take it as you may.

This was changed to +50 AC, as opposed to the listed +30. Most likely to make it more desirable to warriors.

With a 19 dly and 31 dmg, you want this in the hands of your dps classes, namely the rangers and the rogues. Warriors already get a ton of AC and your dps classes certainly need help in that department.

Rangers could use it if you can tank the zone you exp at.
Rogues don't get hit because they never tank. (Runic BS Maul) =P

This is a Warrior ONLY weapon
You put it on a Ranger / Rogue, they going to die quick.
But, Put Faerie Hex Stone in this,
Then Enraging Blow Aug on Kreljnok, etc.
Youll never lose aggro again.
I'd say Runic Bloodstained Billyclub is for Ranger's/Rogues

rangers have the ability to lose aggro at almost any point they want to, especially with TSS jolting kicks, and they can chain cast jolt if needed, but in almost every situation the tank should be able to hold aggro over a dpsing ranger especially a knight.

so denying a dps class this very low delay weapon is foolish

with cs5 you'd be crazy to think this a dps weapon. i wouldn't want to be the one trying to hold agro from a raid full dps classes with this. there are plenty of other weapons with higher dmg procs out there and thats what dps needs.

This is missing it's slot tag (i.e. "Weapon Skill: One Hand Slash") so it's not showing up in searches for weapons.

19 delay just screams "Augment me with yet another proc!" doesn't it?

Imo it screams "augment me with the tunat dmg augment!".

Procs aren't affected by weapon delay, but a weapon with a low delay gets a bigger ratio boost by a dmg aug than a high delay weapon.

PS:
Since I know some people will post that this would be wrong :
1HS with 20/40 and 15/30 = both got a ratio of 0.5.
The mentioned Tunat augment adds 2 dmg, making them 22/40 and 17/30. The ratio of both rises to 0.55 for the slower one and 0.57 for the faster one. Of course there are more factors to dps than just simple ratio...

your math is wrong 20 /40 weapon is 2.o ratio not .5 since your adding the tunat damage aug to the 20 instead of the 40 to make it 22/40 you probably meant to add the tunat aug to make weapon 20/42 and the ratio then becomes .476 not the .55 that you were stating in your post

Well, yeah... There is the damage bonus which is very pleasing if you have a weapon in main hand. Ranger, get a damage bonus in offhand thats pretty much half of the main hand. There is a 1hs 3damage aug in Demi, so it makes this weapon even more potent. Best dps proc available thats rarely resisted, cept stun. All in all this is the sickest weapon out there except for Demi boss drop and that one isnt much better.
