Lol, ok for monks ac means absolutely crap.. If you are tanking in tov it is already too late.. Only thing you need to worry about is getting all of your resists over 200 at any given point in time.. Other than that leave the ac to MT....
Well I have a 60 retired monk now and just want to let you guys know when your pulling the high end game AC really doesnt matter I have around 1200 ac on my monk and I will still get hit for full most of the time no matter what monks just dont take dmg like warriors so ac doesnt mean much you want to live through just say an easy HoT raid pulling session I put my priority like this HP, Resist, Sta (more HP), then ac. I will say in normal grouping yes AC is important but not when your pulling something that is going to quad you for 400 and a warrior for 375
Ummm dont we get the hell beat out of us pulling sometimes? Saying AC is crap for monks is like saying wisdom is crap for druids (imho). Any class who takes damage with some regularity would apreciate the added ac.
Yeah that is a crock.. Yes resist gear is needed for ToV raids.. But I would wear one of these over my tranix crown or froggie crown for soloing or in groups where I am main tanking melee mobs. (I don't solo caster mobs for xp much)
Plus I duo a lot with housemate's cleric - so I tank all the time.
In a perfect situation, the one we all tend to i hope, the only 2 peeps who would take hits in a raid would be the puller and the MT. I'm of course not counting the poor suicidal tasher who's gonna die the first ten seconds of the boss mob fight.Nothing to do to avoid this alas.
I would go further and say that before run speed 3, i'm pretty sure i was taking more hits (including the ones i blocked dodged and avoided of course) than the MT while pulling the junk to clear the path for the serious things.
Saying AC means nothing to a monk obviously proves that you have never gotten your monk past level 10. The thing I love most about my monk is that I can solo with him, even at some higher levels, and soloing without AC is just plain stupid. Also monks sometimes when pulling can take more hits then the tank. AC is very important to monk, and to mine it may be the most important.
Please, this thing is great for monks...I can't remember the last time I was blasted by cold or heat nukes, seeing as the high level game is in places like Velk's, SG, DN, among others....AC is king in the end.
most stuff in kael that you can quest or kill the quest giver for is found in two version like you said. the no-drop version is always from killing. and the droppable version is from questing.
Killed Gkrean prophet last night and won Gaunts of Iron Tactics (same mob that drops this), and the gaunts that dropped are definately droppable. Perhaps you have it backwards?
It isn't even questionable if you would trade out a Froglok Crown for this. Circlet is SO much better, the real question is - Is this better than a crown of King Tranix?
It is not better then a froggy crown when your hunting in a place like the Halls of Testing in ToV, where you need all the fire/cold resist you can get to resist the AEs. For normal fights, or Magic/Poison AE casting mobs, this is better though.
Hate to say this, but it isn't that good for a monk. Get a Crown of the Froglok Kings....slightly less AC but 20 Fire and 20 Cold. that helps a whole lot more than sacrificing 11 cold and 20 fire to get 9 magic.....you can get those off of the new rings.
I am sorry bro, but your wrong. MR is more important then FR any day, especially for a monk. FR is easy to get for us, while MR is quite difficult. I would keep the froggy crown for fire based mobs, but otherwise, this owns it easy.
