go into your options - go to display - click off the button that says "show my helm" -- poof, no more helm graphic

Except that, in October of 2003, when he posted that, the option to turn off helm graphics didn't exist.

Well i just did my Crown for my Vah Shir Warrior and it looks the same either way. Only difference is the name. It went from "Champion's Crown" to "Custom Champion's Crown". Am i doing something wrong with maybe the settings? hmm

GOt one of these from thurg and i did the quest to the guy in icewell keep and the graphic look on the iksar Looks so cool wish i had a screenshot
Just got the helm tonight while guild was raiding manor, (plate cycle) section in kael. We also got legs, arms and 2 boots, all plate. Those went to other guildies since I allready hade those pieces. I just need the bp now then I'll have a full set. You don't need a full raid to do it. I did it before with one group. Had a lvl 60 monk, cleric and shammy. Also had another warrior, also 60 I think. It's just nice to have most of your guildies with you while they get upgrades to. We'er going to try it again tomorrow (Wed oct 16) night providing things go well after the patch. I don't care what my champions gear looks like. I love it. Very nice stats. So what if it looks like fine steel? You'll still look sweet in it in a full suite. Also, you cannot do it with lower than kindly faction. It must be kindly faction or higher.

The corroded plate peice drops in Kael.
You need to hand in the corroded plate helm and 3 Crushed Coral to Captain Njall. If you want the custom look, take the helm and give it to Royal Armorer Slade in Icewell Keep (Thurg B), he's in one of the rooms near Dain's Throne.
I did the quest with KINDLY faction, not sure if you can do it with lower.

Hmm if u actually come back to read this, Well theres a guy in icewell keep on the top floor where dain spawns. Move to the door on the left of his ice char go in it and while facing strait ahead go to your right hail the guy give him your helm, hell give u back your new looking champs crown, u must be kindly or higher to do this, if ur not bye bye to ur crown

Why is there always at least one jack-*** in every group that feels the need to ridacule someone else for asking a feasable question? I for one WANT to know what the helmet looks like. Not everyone that plays the game is SOLELY concerned with stats. I want to know how a piece of armor is going to match the rest of my set, if it's going to be invisible, or whathaveyou. So when someone asks a question, just answer it, or don't. Your little personal comments aren't appreciated.

I'd like to start with asking what was the point of that post? this is a board to gather information on quests etc... if you dont want the look, dont change it to custom. Some people want their characters to look impressive, attractive, whatever. i bet you'd complain if your character was a pink sponge or something equally ludicrous. and hey, enough opinions can make changes, if enough people dont like the way something looks, it might get changed for the better. I dont worry about flames, because i know the people writing them are either writing them in anger, or are just plain small-minded, and either of those i can ignore

I've been asking people if they have seen this helm on a wood elf warrior, without luck. If anyone knows a WE warrior with this helm, please give me any idea what it is to look like. i currently have the gems, i just need to get the corroded plate helm. if you have a screen shot of one, please send to kevdude462@netzero.net

Ok the quest comes from the Captain in Thurgadin near the arena to get the helm (just hail him) if you don't get the quest then you are not hign enough in faction...once you get the crown head over to Icewell Keep and go up to the throne room. There is a door near there that have a Hunstman and an armorer inside. If you are KOS to the dain but not coldain. Go inside invis and drop invis in the corner behind the armorer. Armorer is on coldain faction. Hail him and he will eventually mention the helms that he can take and customize. Give him your helm and he will return a custom helm to you. The custom helm has the graphic. I wasn't able to do these quests on amiable faction, So I waited till i was kindly. Hope this helps.

Latest patch mentions 6 new graphic files for Velious armor. I would have to suggest that would include the class specific Velious quest armors. Last patch i think is either today or tomarrow, i lost track. Hopefully, we should see some new looks soon.

I just got my champion's crown trade.
The smith that does the trade in is located in Icewell Keep. The NPC that does the trade is located in a room to the left of Dain. This NPC is there in the corner, just ask him "what helm?" and he will tell you which helms he can exchange for the unique looking helms.

As soon as you zone into Thurgdin, run across the bridge, go through 2 gates, just before you come to the last gate, there is a hallway to the left and right, go to the left, take your next right and the captian will be there on your left.

"I wanted to clarify how the Velious helm exchange works. It seems that plenty of people misunderstood that patch message and have been asking GMs to change their helmets for them. GMs will not be changing the helmets. All you have to do is return to the NPC that started you on the quest for your armor and talk to him. Don't just hand him your helmet. He'll be grateful, sure, but since you haven't explained to him that you want something new from him, he's just going to keep it?
And the NPC will also tell you exactly which items he will exchange and which he will not."
Also note that the dropped Velious helms cannot be traded in, it is limited to quested helms only:
"The smiths are only going to be accepting the quested helmets for trade in. We probably will not be adding a similar trade in for 'dropped' helms. It's a benefit for doing the quests right
now.
Keep in mind that the smiths will not be giving your old helm back if you don't like the new one. So be sure that you want to make the exchange."
Note: I have a Champions Crown and have spent over an hour trying to find the key phrase from Captain Njall to initiate the helm trade with no luck so far. If you find the key phrase please post it!

I am trying to turn in the pally helm and been searching all the sites for the correct thing to say to my NPC. spent over an hour and then petitioned a GM who was of course "unable to help" If anyone know someone who has turned there helm in please let me know, I spent 2 hours talkin to the NPC and could not find the correct phrase to get him to spill the beans

I wish it did look different. I just got one of these the other day, and it looks just like a normal plate helm on a female barbarian. I assume this holds true for all other races.

It's quite possible that til they fix the new armor helm graphic bug there will be no graphic for it. You will have to wait til they fix it.

funny, the other pieces won't let Iksar wear them. Thought that was funny given that they can wear bezerker armor which is supposed to have the same stats and be easier to get.

I really don't think Bezerker's Armor is easier to get, well okay the breast plate is but overall it's a lot easier to GAURANTEE that you get some Champion's armor...Growth is more luck, and Champs is more hard work, myself I have crappy luck so I'm wearing Champs
