# Aug 10 2001 at 8:13 AM Rating: Decent
9000 pp is WAY to high for this item. Major fallout lately guys. I just got mine for 3000pp. I see them at 1500 MAX. Just thought I'd share.

i see the price of these around the 10k mark. i sell them for 2k firm (no trades, cash only.) people that inflate prices to beyond the point that the item isn't even worth it should be sodomized.

You got yours for 3k but they are 1.5k max? with that sort of resist, huh?
Just some musings for fashion conscious enchanters
# Aug 06 2001 at 7:22 AM Rating: Default
No the tunic does not in fact look like a robe. So enchanters will not get bugged for clarity or such while dressed in this. Which all of my friends seek.

Have you noticed that all of the pieces are all all. Furthermore have you noticed that they all have -cha.

What is -cha good for? Fear. It is erroneous to believe that positive charisma +cha is good for fear. The opposite is true. -Cha is good for fear. Of course ALL abilities scores have had their impact on spells and such watered down since release. But, for a moment try this, try to take your main ability score and take it to 300 or 400 and then test out its effects. And the best way to do this is on high lvl mobs that have their codes much different from low lvl mobs.

Now this set is great for necros and (if they realy wanted to) SK. but for an enc this set would be next to death. Ability scores don't matter that much but all +cha spells would take a nose dive i predict. Someone please get a full set and post here as to its effects.

Quickly a full set of this is -52cha. On my High Elf enc that would render around 40cha. This is below the 75 benchmark for all ability scores so I imagine all hell would break lose for an enc below this. There are also held items with -cha.
RE: Just some musings for fashion conscious enchanters
# Sep 28 2001 at 10:30 AM Rating: Excellent
it has been disproven that minus cha helps with fear.

charisma only effects how long charm sticks. (and maybe although im not sure, how long mez sticks)
RE: Just some musings for fashion conscious enchanters
# Nov 02 2001 at 3:01 PM Rating: Excellent
This is correct. My necromancer solo's for experience in Burning Wood with ease and he has 80 charm. (don't ask). The -CHA is just a BS myth about fear effects.

I'd say it's just to add diversity, or maybe verant feels dropable pieces from certain areas have to have minuses to keep balance somehow..something, I don't know. But it DOES NOT help with fear kiting. (DOES NOT in any way. NO way)

I tried this Tunic on and it looks awesome for my necro, not to mention the great stats, in fact I want a whole suit of this stuff (looks like black leather armour when worn on a gnome nec)...the problem is its mega rare on my server (Innoruuk). I can't buy it so I need to camp it :( DOES ANYONE have any tips to hunt in SG...is it at all possible for a 56 nec and a 55 mage to successfully hunt the "lowbie" stuff ie. the Servant Sea Elephants 46-48? I don't see us doing anything higher. Please post...drool..
RE: Advice please peeps!!!
# Sep 15 2001 at 5:31 AM Rating: Decent
Shaman, Necro, Enchanter worked fine for us at CS zone. Enchanter chained stuned, while pets and dots went to work. Stuff does have high MR, hits rather hard (mid to high 100s).

I'm just missing arms and tunic to complete my set, and it looks realy good on female DEs to boot!
RE: Advice please peeps!!!
# Jun 11 2001 at 8:57 AM Rating: Default
no, stuff here hits insanely hard and many cheal. 225-250 hitting lvl 55 cleric walruses chew through your pet like a hot knife through butter.
Robe
# Apr 19 2001 at 11:21 PM Rating: Decent
I saw this on a DE NECRO..does NOT have the robe look. It was a very exotic looking red tunic on him. He let me try it on, and it became a cream colored tunic with pale green, and it reminded me of a halter top. Bared the shoulders. I am a Half Elf and it looked pretty.
So, no, it does not have a robe look.
Siren's Grotto
# Apr 16 2001 at 2:38 PM Rating: Good
Siren's Grotto is a level 50 + dungeon.(Personally I would say 55 +) It is a zone in from Cobalt Scar and Western Wastes. Three mobs at zone in that you do NOT attack, unless you plan on dying. Must have chanter and cleric. Go in invis, buff up on ledge, drop down and kill seahorses. Then have monk pull away to clear the front of the zone.
And by the way, stats on Tunic are absolutely great. On par with Bonecaster robe. The guy who said they suck is an idiot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 21 2001 at 8:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Basically there's stuff for 4 classes here: wiz/mag/nec and bard. Chanters generally aren't going to want netted kelp. Monks of this level *should* have better gear than this. And then for the bards there's like 20 new instruments... wonder if any of them are actual improvements over the older stuff. Anyway the loot distribution on raids is looking to be pretty uneven lol :P
RE: Observation about siren's grotto loot
# Nov 02 2001 at 3:09 PM Rating: Decent
Monks of this level should have better equipment? That's a myth as well.

Reinforeced Black Pantherskin Tunicc is 11ac 10str 10sta 10dex 0.6wt, and I'd just LOVE to see you show me one. (cuz, chances are you can't)

Fungi is only good because of regen. And that's not cheap or easy to obtain solo (or possible, solo, i should say).

So, what then? I should have a phase spider carapace? Or you'd say a Robe of Living Fungus is better?..

Well man, what is it?!?! OH!! RIGHT! You think people can just stroll in Temple of Veeshan, pick up some armor, head over to Kael and get their quest tunics like it's nothin, huh?..right..

This stuff is good for int based tradeskillers, monks, most casters, or hell..anyone who can upgrade to it and use the stats, or simply for fire resist raid gear.

In any event that whole bullshyt about "any such and such should have such and and such by X level".

Effix, a 60 Iksar Monk on Cazic Thule.. Is NOT a friend of mine, but he is one of the monks I fingered and sometimes follow around. (Sounds scary but I literally do this from time to time. It can help you learn new tactics, find new (to you) quests, and open your eyes to some different gear). Anyways, guess what? He doesn't have the 10th coldain ring, so, I guess he's not playing his character right, by your deffinition.

Idiot.
RE: Observation about siren's grotto loot

Rolling for this in SG? Ok, if you will use it as a monk sure roll for it. But the point is you can get better stuff for cheaper if you are buying a tunic.

Where is sirens grotto? There is no listing of any such place. Is it the island you pass by when you are on the boat from freeport?
RE: Where is sirens grotto?
# Sep 15 2001 at 5:36 AM Rating: Decent
It's betweem Western Wastes and Cobolt Scar (in Velious).

The entrance is underwater in CS, just go down the beach where the otter people are and swim under water along the wall away from the port into Skyshrine. Look for the sirens, and there will be a hole to swim into. The sirens are KOS but don't see though invis. They are rather mean enchanters also =)

Fear
# Jan 12 2001 at 7:19 PM Rating: Good
Fear is a straight save vs magic. I often charm/fear animals with my druid at cha 105. My level 19 fear is not resisted by level 40 mobs, and almost always goes a full minute.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 12 2001 at 6:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Someone posted that Charisma has nothing to do with how long fear lasts. The dude claimed he had a level 54 necro. I seriously doubt that.
RE: Re: Neg Char = Fear Succession is just plain wrong

Charisma has ABSOLUTELY NO effect on fear. Period. Necro stuff having -Cha is a penalty not a bonus. Am I a necro? No, I'm a 51 Illusionist with 200 Charisma.

Enchanter's don't get "a couple in the fear line", they get the entire line. We have 4 Fears (Fear, Chase the Moon, Invoke Fear, & Trepidation) to the Necro's 3 (they don't get Chase the Moon). All of the other Necro fears are Undead only - Not General mob fears.

My fears almost always last the full duration of the spell (which is maxed at 42 secs with Invoke Fear). Why? Because I cast Tashania 1st, which drops the mobs Magic Resistance and MR is the ONLY thing checked when deciding whether or not to break the fear early.

I'm sure the Undead Fear spells may be different (probably different MR modifiers), but when it comes to fearing live mobs, Enchanters with their high Cha blow Necro's and SKs out of the water because Cha is irrelevent, MR makes the difference. We can lower it, Necro's can't.

N.B. Before you ask why everyone associates fear with Necro's rather than Enchanters, that's easy. Enchanters can't Snare so we can't fear kite. But put an Enchanter together with a Druid or Ranger and we can Fear Kite as well as Necros. Sometimes even better - like between levels 16 and 34. We have Chase (max duration 36 secs) while Necro's are still using Fear (max 18). Unless you want to limit yourself to only playing with dead things :)

'Nuff said :)

RE: Re: Neg Char = Fear Succession is just plain wrong
# Aug 07 2001 at 1:12 PM Rating: Good
But thats the big question, why would a druid or ranger or even a shaman or bard wanna group with a chanter when it is more ideal to group with a Necro. When it comes to Kiting (chanter limited to fear kiting) it is best to group with a Necro rather than a Chanter. With SOW abilities (and thats all they need to cast) and DoT's yer looking at kiting 6 to 8 mob's at one time of equal con. Besides that is another problem while your grouped with someone with SOW your splitting the exp, the Necro gains full exp solo and prob kill'n faster than your Chanter Druid combo. Necro's all around are the best class all the way to 60th (54 to those who don't know what mob's to kill after such lvl). Necro's have a built in Tank, Cleric and Chanter abilities (other variations from pet ie: rogue, monk, etc) as for the spells vs undead, I prob only kill'd skeli's at my newbee lvl's or farm'n for bones. Other than that it's all living creatures till 60th. Aye yes 60th solo though you'll lose faction but the DE wine quest will fix that =)
Before ya shoot down the Necro class think it would be best to play one, fear kiting has a purpose, it's the ability to regain mana with our version of CracK while the mob walks around losing hit's from dot's and pet (the buffer). when the mob is dead it is time for another and this process is never ending. LifeTap I think not, more like ExpTap.

Lvl 27 Necro, Xev (3 days 11 hours) non twinked =) lots of soda =O.
aye only 26 but I'm back once again, guess I should have kept the account going =/
CALIBON ! Where the hell are you !?!?
RE: Re: Neg Char = Fear Succession is just plain wrong
# Aug 16 2001 at 6:41 PM Rating: Default
Try getting some Lvls before you say Necro's can fear kite better than others, with my partner we can fear kite 3 Hg's at once, and 2 with never going below 50% mana. And for the record yes chr has an effect of Fear, with my int gear my chr is 105 when i swap up to my chr gear, i notice a major defferance on fear times.
RE: Re: Neg Char = Fear Succession is just plain wrong
# Sep 19 2001 at 5:49 AM Rating: Default
At lvl 44 I as a necro can solo 5 HGs on one mana bar, and be ready to go again in a very short order. Regardless of how long your fear sticks a druid/chanter combo can NOT equal the damage output/mana efficiency of necro dots and pet. Sorry. That's what we were designed to do.

Try going to the Fashion Tables listed under the equipment section of Allakhazams. Netted Kelp is unfortunately not listed there but if you want to check out how stuff would look on you then that's the place to go.
Maybe you'll even submit some pictures once you lvl and get this stuff.
About the tunic...
# Jan 11 2001 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
I myself doubt that this tunic has the appearance of a robe. Taking the mesh tunic for example: its equipment graphic was that of a robe, but it looked like a leather tunic when worn. Also, for those of you wanting robes for your Druids and Shamen and such, there are many races that don't appear to be wearing anything when you put a robe on them. Half-Elves come to mind at the moment...I only know this from my experiences as an Enchanter.
RE: About the tunic...
# Jan 13 2001 at 7:53 PM Rating: Default
THat is exactly right many races have no robe apperance, such as : Trolls,ogres,half-elfs,barbarians,dwarfs,halflings, and woodelf.
Hopefully this does have the appearance of a robe but only on races with robes.

No robe look for any of the races that dont have any INT casters. I looked at at all the pages I could find when I had my Ogre Shaman because it would look real funny to see one in a robe, but no joy.

yeah, seems like every time I think I've found something that would rock
for my enchanter, it has that neg char stat.

I got a sorcerous bowl from tower of frozen shadows(or whatever) the other
day. 7int 7wis, some saves and such. Then neg charisma. I use it anyway
when nuking, which is rare, but still annoys me
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 11 2001 at 7:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That if an robe has int it is automaticlly a caster item? Sure they use int but by the time they get to Siren's they will already have 200int. The AC on this is one of the better Monk chest pecies that dont weigh a ton. The Stm is MUCH better for a Monk then a caster. Str is MUCH better for a Monk then caster. The SvFire will more then likly go to waste on a caster. Wish everyone would realize that and item wth Int/Wis can be better for a class that doesnt use Int/Wis.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 11 2001 at 8:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you guys suck why would you want to lose 10chr for 10stm if your a caster god it only gives you wussies like 20hp
RE: How come everyone thinks
# Jan 11 2001 at 8:56 AM Rating: Default
how wrong you are treebringer, it is obvious from your comment you havent played a caster lately or if you have were not really that great at it. If a caster gets 200int his quest for stuff isnt over at ALL, its really just begun since getting 200int is super easy anyway.

1.sta is great for casters(try surviving something that hits for 540 when you have 1030 hps at 53)
2.str is great for casters(try carrying cash and loot when you have 60str)
3.more int on one piece means you can put mana or hp or resist stuff elsewhere.

thats that monks get way way better stuff then this in velious so dont start giving the pity monk dont get anything because the casters get all the robes bs

RE: How come everyone thinks
# Jan 11 2001 at 4:10 PM Rating: Default
Dude, as I play a wizzy and my buddy plays a monk, I'll solve it. The first guy is wrong, it's awesome for a wizard, 10 int on a robe makes me wanna faint. It allows us to take off a different piece and get some more mana! Thats definately worth it. And lets face it, as a gnomish wizard, I dont have any hitpoints to spare, therefore 10 sta rocks. And my 60 base str could ALWAYS use a buff! But he's also in a way right. Though the robe is awesome caster gear, it also doubles as a nice monk or even ranger chest piece (I got one of those friends in RL too) or basically anyone who cant wear the nice plate stuff. Let's face it, for caster or melee there's better stuff out there, but don't discount the fact that this is an awesome piece of equiptment, no matter what!

You ought to buff wis over int, it's more useful to rangers and the skill increase check uses whichever's higher. Also wis jewelry is generally cheaper / higher bonus than equivalent int jewelry (at least the player made stuff).
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 15 2001 at 3:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Id just like to say that this item would royally SUCK for anyone lvl 50+. Monks I could see *maybe* using this beyond 50, but not a caster. But anyone else would be real goofy. Id rank this item for around lvl 40 or so, and pay no more than 5-7k for it. And for you flamers who say "Oh well im lvl 50 and I dont just have 7k sittin around in my bank!" You dont have the cash for a reason, its because you dont work for it. I know that its EASY to pick up 1k in a day if your 50+. . .Ive gone through several lvl 50's on several different servers.

I dunno what you guys are all talking about but to be honest this is one of the best Monk chests in game. Sure you have your PSCs and Fungis but this tunic has an Awesome texture and adds what we Monks need. Strength, HPs, AC and (JoY!!!) wt 1lb. I have a very well rounded suit since I decided to get all my other pieces of equip taken care of first and just ride my CCS. The fact that this Tunic has int on it is great but I wear a Kobold Jesters Crown so its kinda pointless to me and the negative Charisma isnt hurting me either for the same reason. I picked mine up on the Tribunal server and here they range from 8 to 12k and nobody is arguing about it. I have the Kelp pants and shoulders as well and find that those 3 are the best of the Kelp for a Monk to use. If you have the cash to spend I would advise picking this baby up. To me the textures look best on Human males and females, Iksar males and females, Wood Elf females (looks gay on WE males) but it looks best of all on Erudites, a must see.
