Effect level
# Aug 03 2003 at 11:06 AM Rating: Default
I see a lot of debate about effect level, this should help.

Taken right from the spdat file ...

http://lucy.fnord.net/item.html?id=25515
Robe of the Bonecaster
Effect Level 1

So the effect should be perfectly usable at level 46 when a lucky necro is able to loot it.
Just a question of the Effect.

If you right click this spell, Do you still need the coffin as a Reagent?

Yes you still need a coffin as a reagent. And what's more, the clicky has a hell of a long casting time as opposed to the actualy necro spell. But the good news is that it is mana free and it takes the small, stackable ones instead of the ones that weight like 10 pounds.

And whats even better is if you have a foci item with Reagent Conservation 3 (ie: Ruined Mithral Bracer), you might not even use the coffin.

Tore this from the corpse of none other than Tunare herself last night. A nice upgrade made all the better as it's a reminder of the death of a god too weak-minded to recognize the supremacy of necromancy. :P
Which is which

Hey all

I just want to get few things cleared up on GRAPHICS. I've viewed a few webpages and needless to say I'm completely confused. I know the Thurgadin Quest Robe requires: Coldain High Faction, and 3 Pristine emeralds for the robe. Okay, I found out that the Warlock's Robe in return for all that is the dark pink/purple type of look for every race that wears that. Okies, the Rotting Robe, 3 Pristine Emeralds, high faction with King Tormax, that results in the Rotting robe, here's where my confusion comes in. I saw a necromancer (human) yesterday in game wearing this rotting robe and it had a little lighter color then a Crystalline Robe, okay I got that squared away, Then I viewed a webpage and saw the Robe of The Bone Caster, on a gnome, it was the neat purple look, then I viewed another webpage with a Dark Elf wearing the Robe of the Bonecaster, and it looked exactly like a Froggy Bonecaster's Robe, Is the PoG Dropped Robe (Robe of the Bonecaster) different graphics for the races that wear it ? Or could the website I viewed have a typo error? Basically what I'm trying to ask, is, do the graphics on the Warlocks Robe (pinkish), stay the same on all races, Rotting robe (Crystalline Robes) stay the same, and do the PoG dropped (Purplish??) stay the same on all races ?? I know that seems like a lot but to anyone that understood that, hehe, please post back hopefully you can clear that up for me. Thanks

The robes look roughly the same, though there may very well be some differences. The entire color scheme will not be different thought. As for colors, both the Warlock and Robe of the Bonecaster are purple/blue in color. However, the Warlock robe has a lighter color, with a different design. Personally, I like the PoG robe look much better. If the PoG robe looked like the Froglok robe, it's because the area the screenshot was taken was rather dark, making the already dark purple/blue robe appear black.
Necro/SK Night Indeed.
# Dec 10 2002 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
After too many PoG raids/groups to count, I finally obtained it! It was definitely a Necro/SK night.

Robe of the Bonecaster dropped of A Feral Amalgam. A SK BP dropped off with the first three mobs with killed also. Even the Augmentation of Death spell dropped last night.

I personally think the purple is cool. But, maybe it's because I'm a DE. Brings out the white in my hair. And the Conjure Corpse effect is awesome. I'm so tired of carrying that 10.0 WT Jade Inlaid coffin around that takes up one inventory slot and can only carry small things itself.

Now to celebrate! For all you do, this Druid's blood is for you!

This robe rocks. First off the coffins you buy are cheaper, stackable and weigh much less. YOu can carry 40 of these around easily. You can use the effect before level 57 and you save 700 mana a cast. Hmmm.... sounds good to me :). Robe is a dark purple. I looted last night off of Fayl Eversomething. She is named treant. We also had a mage and wizard robe off the entolling totem peeps.

The Effect uses Coffins like the spell but it uses no mana and it can be used at lvl 46 and up i would even think it could be used at lvl 1 if you could loot it

and the Cleric ress stick can be used at lvl 51

You would think that the lvl of useage would be 46, seeing as how thats the lowest lvl that one can attain this robe.

Got it off an entolling essance. It was my 5th lead into PoG and first time I played main puller. Due to my loot rules I should have lost this robe to another Necromancer Borialis because I got the necro crown the same night, but he deferred. goes to show how much it pays to be a fair leader on PoG raids

Guildy got one last night in PoG, effect requires small coffins (the stackable ones) and she was able to cast it at 50. Damn ugly robe, blueish-purple with a light purple down the middle. I personally wouldn't mind the fashion drawback for this robe tho, stats, saves and effect make it unbeatable.

Umm, thats why you can kill in PoG and not worry about faction with Tunare. Lots of Evil races/ classes hunt there often.

epic
# Jan 11 2001 at 12:28 AM Rating: Default
i saw a earlier reference to our epic in the discussion of the robe. the robe uses the tiny inlaid coffins. the robe has very good stats and has an effect we can use, manaless casting.

the effect on this robe is something many of us asked for on our epic, wether we still needed the coffins or not.

IMO this is a great robe. i applaude verant for the effort they put into this robe.

Okay I don't mean to seem gripey about this subject... But although I'm thrilled to see the stats and omg does it sound fantasic (actually I don't think I know a word to correctly describe it) You would figure if someone was able to take a picture of the stats of the darn thing that someone would have a picture of it to let us know what it looks like, heck I'd settle for a description..Is it green? red? blue? orange with purple polka dots?? if anyone might know this I would love to just know what it looks like. Not like with those stats I'd care if I looked like a rubber chicken. Cause lord knows any necromancer would be insane not to want one. If anyone knows please e-mail me at lauralasley@hotmail.com please.

The effect is the Level 57 Corpse summoning spell, if it follows other effect that use components, it will still require the coffin... the good thing is that this spell uses the STACKABLE coffins that cost half the price, very handy indeed.
RE: Effect
# Jan 09 2001 at 6:14 AM Rating: Default
I know its a lvl 57 spell effect but i was told the cleric epic weapon has the lvl 56 cleric rez spell and it will work even if your under lvl 56 so my question is does this robe work if your not lvl 57 yet?
RE: Effect
# Jan 09 2001 at 6:25 AM Rating: Default
I'd hope it would work prior to lev57. The only real bonus of the effect is not having to lug around the giant unstackable, not to mention HEAVY coffins, which are containers (meaning you can only have 8 on you at a time).

The bonus to the cleric epic is 6% more upon an exp rez and the use of no mana and an upgrade in the Rez line (well the last Rez available to clerics). Conjure corpse isn't as much an 'upgrade' (it summons your corpse just as well as the lev39 version of it, whereas the 56 Rez is not as effective as the lower level Rezzes) but the upgrade to it is the ability to summon corpses and not be limited on how many you can summon at one time.

Either way though its a great robe.

RE: Effect
# Jan 09 2001 at 10:34 PM Rating: Decent
the cleric epic weapon cannot be used until they are 56, and it is a huge difference from the 49 rez once you are in the higher levels.

now i would assume the same for this effect, must be 57...and haven't heard anything about coffins for this yet, but i would think you would still have to have the tiny jaid inlaid coffins for this, if you don't need them...this is better than our epic weapon.

ive been rez'd by a cleric who is under 56 with the cleric epic weapon .sorry but it can be used prior to 56

RE: Effect

The effect is level 55. Paradigm of Sol Ro got 2 of these, for their 54 and 56 necro. They had to level the one to 55 so he could equip and use it.

RE: Effect
# Jul 02 2002 at 3:23 PM Rating: Default
you can use this before 57 you moron
RE: Effect
# Jan 30 2001 at 12:28 PM Rating: Default
The effect is not 55, it is in fact 57, even on the robe....it is also castable before 57 if you have the robe.

It does use a coffin.
RE: NOW THATS A ROBE!

It uses a small coffin, but the mana saved if a large CR is needed is one heck of a time saver.
RE: NOW THATS A ROBE!

and the money saved, the jade inlaid cofins are 175p each, i cant remember how much the small coffins costed though, oh well i KNOW not as much as the jade ones plus they small coffins are stackable, damn now to get through level 45 so i can go to PoG
RE: NOW THATS A ROBE!
# May 03 2001 at 10:58 AM Rating: Good
To bad that all the other classes got an effect that will help them gain exp.
RE: NOW THATS A ROBE!
# Jul 03 2001 at 1:49 PM Rating: Decent
This helps us gain exp as well. PoA raids don't happen without one of us. Either a full time level 57+ or a full time necro with one of these types of robes. The raids on PoA last DAYS, too. Deffinatly helps us gain exp. Everyone wants a necro with one of these babies. Makes CR almost a non issue. I was in a hand group one night in KC and we had a wipeout. No one in the zone. Full pop on the zone. Rogues couldn't sneak/hide to get there. If I wasn't able to summon, we'd be screwed. I can only use the 39 summon but it would have been a LOT easier if we only needed one coffin for me to get my corpse and then I could have used a robe to get the others with the tiny coffins I would keep on me at all times. Would have saved money AND time. Time is exp. Dosn't help us gain exp, my ***. : )
