Systematic Spell Research Volume Four: Inks of the Elements
You will find that the selection of the proper inks to use for scribing a spell will be the most difficult part of making a spell. The different inks are used with the writing of the parts of the spell
| that apply to a particular effect. So you would use one ink when you are affecting how the spell will alter its target's ability to dodge, a different ink when you are directly harming the target of a spell, and a different ink to heal the target of a spell.
|
|
The hardest thing I found to remember is that the ink itself does not affect how the target of the spell will resist a spell, but instead is only concerned with the effect. The same ink will be used for a spell that causes cold damage as a spell that causes fire damage. Instead the additive to the
| ink will differentiate those two spells.
All inks are made by mixing one or more pigments in pure water.
Ink of Ro is used for a spell that will affect how its target resists fire damage. It uses madder pigment and tin powder.
|
|
One must remember that this is only how well the target will resist fire damage, not how the target will resist the spell that uses this ink.
Ink of E'ci is used for a spell that will affect how its target resists damage to cold. It uses logwood pigment and alum powder.
| Ink of Druzil Ro is used for a spell that will affect how its target resists magic and lightning damage. It uses logwood pigment and iron powder.
Ink of Marr is used for spells that have a stunning effect, be it that the spell itself will stun
|
|
opponents, or the spell makes one more resistant to being stunned. It uses titanium powder.
Ink of Saryn is used for a spell that will affect how its target resists poison damage and it will alter how long a poison will remain in affect. It uses fustic pigment and copper
| powder.
Ink of Bertoxxulous is used for a spell that will affect how its target resists disease damage and it will alter how long a disease will remain in affect. It uses catechu pigment and alum powder.
Ink of Terris-Thule is used
|
|
to alter the duration of Curse effects. It uses Coal Powder.
Ink of Rainbows is used when a spell will affect fire, cold, magic, poison and disease. It can also be used as a subtractive agent. If a large amount of resistances would be affected, it can be used,
| and then the ink of the resistance that is NOT affected is added. It uses prismatic pigment.
