FYI,
Not sure about other classes, but Nec's can't do Research until Lvl 16.
Druids apparently can't use the Research kit or the Concordance container. (no clue how to advance a Druid) :(

Agreed. Would be nice to list the classes that can't use this. Druids can't either.

/loc of the half-elf female "spell research merchant" that has the spell research kits (melee, priest, etc.) is +114.60, -886.30
Other (male) merchants with the same name have inks, etc. and are in the same area.
I'm assuming this was put in so all of us playing Timelocked progression would be able to research our lowbie spells prior to Planes of Power. If these merchants have always been there... shrugs.
Edit: Just ran into Dark elf versions of the same merchants in Neriak Commons at the Int caster guild building. Going to assume they are in several other locations as well.

No Melee class especially those classes that use only Tomes can use this kit. It pretty much sucks as the only way for us (Monks) to skill up in Research is to 1 - Make Manuals and 2 - Be RICH! It will take approximately 2 Mil Plat to GM this tradeskill, if you are lucky. Don't know about you, but I do not have that kinda dough! Good luck.

Agree - they really need to implement binding powders for non int casters or some similar path to Master.
Does this mean one would still need the old research kit for the lower spells? Did the recipes change on these lower spells? Asking do to my son telling the words were no good any more.

This information is inaccurate. I'm not saying you didn't buy one there, it's possible (however unlikely) that some other player sold one to that vendor. I think it's more likely you are thinking of the Tome of Endless Enchantments which IS sold by this vendor. The Spell Research Kit is something entirely different and is not part of this vendor's regular inventory.
This Spell Research Kit does not do level 60 and below spells.
It is used in researching level 61 - 65 spells and is also used in the Parts for Bellfast quest. Used to combine certain combinations of Mechanoinstruction Scraps.

I purchased this "kit" today---only its not a kit...its a combine container to do research combines in. I also purchased all the research books and what a NITEMARE!!! they don't tell you directly what spells you can make--you have to figure it out with the clues given so if someone figures this out PLEASE post your findings here. Greatly appreciated !!!!
