OK, let me state a little something, just so you know where this stands in the realm of druid items as compared to everyone else. I am a level 55 druid. I am wearing a Lodozal shell shield on my back. I have Gloves of Earthcrafting for my hands. I have Crystal Chitin shield in secondary. Gladiator Chain leggings as legs. All this and I still do not have a tunic as nice as this one for a druid. Until you get planar drops, Velious quest BP's, or ultra ultra rare drops like the Crystal Chitin Breastplate from Velk's (yeah right), this is about the best item for druid in the game. Monks, enchanters, necros, wizzies, etc etc, all have better options that they can get much more easily than the options available to druids at this level. Chest pieces for druids are just incredibly difficult to come by.

just a little note to you the best druid tunic prior to POP in the game IMO is the Elysian one which a 55 druid can easilly solo. just use ensnare, winged death, root (any work and will break often so i use either lowest lvl root if low on mana or highest to allow some medding between casting. another good item to use in gettin the armor is any free dot items like the sleaves that do Drones of Doom. just thaught i would help u out a bit =D.

Ok, from posts below this, I was able to pull out that this drops from named wyverns in the 2nd story of SS. That is the only useful info down there. That is the only useful info I shall post. Stop reading here unless you want to read my opinion on this item.

.
.
.

Ok, this has 8 wisdom, same wis as the druid fear bp, also known as Vermiculated.

If we raid SS and this drops, it is looted by a present druid who is not wearing better. If all present druids are wearing this or better, then anyone else can loot it.

My PERSONAL view on this item...

Int casters have way better that are quite cheap.

Monks... I'm sorry, but this is a little bit too heavy for my monk. I wear a Foreman's Tunic. 10 ac and NO WEIGHT. My opinion, I know, but I think this is junk for a monk.

Druids KSing... sheeyit, I've been KSed by GREEN PC necros in RM on my druid, don't even talk to me about KSing.
It's good fashion

I don't know about any of you, but I play a high elf mage.. and I am working on collecting the sweet looking white armor from Velious armor quests.. and just to let you all know.. if you want to keep that look and somehow finish the whole white suit.. this is a tunic to go with.. because it will complete your set!

Just thought I'd let you know.. I'm thrilled ;)

To the Anonymous person above who responded to Beldhyr's, using such mature arguements such as calling him a "greedy *******": I AM a druid in his guild, and quite proud of it thank you very much :) Beldhyr has helped me on more occasions than I can think of, and is quite skilled at his profession as an enchanter. He's ALWAYS willing to help anyone out, so if it came down between him and I rolling on this tunic, and he won, I'd be happy for him to have it! :) This situation will probably never occur however, as we have chosen dragon/dwarf faction.

Would it be a better upgrade for me? Well, yes it might be, but I am hardly going to be hurting without it. Is he a little vain? Well... ~chuckles~ perhaps, but he is hardly the only person in EQ who would sacrifice stats for looks. And why shouldn't he do that if he wants to? He has 200 int without any of the "uber" robe, and this WOULD be an upgrade for him compared with what he already has.

I stubbornly continue to wear my Ulthork tunic (which was a gift from Beldhyr btw!) even though I could easily obtain something better. I keep wearing it because it matches wonderfully with my Komriff Military Leggings (which I also got thank to Beldhyr and others in my guild!). I have perfect strangers compliment me on how it looks, for there aren't many half elf druids out there, so it does have a unique appearance. I would be lying if I said it does't feel good :) Of course maybe they were just REALLY hope to beguile a Sow out of me! ~grins~

If someone puts their time and effort into a raid, and an item drops that they could really use and want (which would be the case with Beldhyr), they *should* be able to roll on it. In the long run these petty argument over who should have "this" and who should have "that" shouldn't really matter, as much as having fun with your friends.

Ok I play a druid, a monk, and an enchanter, and quite frankly any of them would like this item. the ac is pretty standard for most druid armors, and that is a nice wis bonus. The weight is not bad for a monk, and has a decent if not spectacular AC, and my monk happens to practice many trade skills, so the wis and Int bonuses DO count for him. As for my Chanter, the ac is not bad, nor is the Int bonus, the wis would come in handy while working my jewlery skill, and I could GET OUT OF THIS DRESS. so the looks alone would make this a nice caster item for those of us that think dresses look much better on the ladies. :-)
To Sum Up
# May 05 2001 at 6:36 PM Rating: Default
First of all, the Shardwurm Skin, and the White Scaled Tunic, two tunics for Arcane that show up as leather, were added with velious. There *has* always been a tunic that casters can wear. That is the Woven Tunic, which is all of AC 6.

Second, thank you for the information. Fe'Dhar room...noted for future reference.

Third, What class is this better for? Question: Does it matter? From my understanding, on most of the raids I've been on, no drop loot is randomed amongst those who can use the item. It is not a case of, this is better for druids, and druids have bad armor anyway. It is not an issue of what else you *can* get. However, if there is a monk along who thinks it's junk, he should (and likely will) forego on his random, same with a caster.

I've not worn a robe since 8th level, and don't plan to start any time soon. I wore a woven tunic till 40th level, and a White Scaled Tunic, then a Shardwurm Skin after that. Perhaps I could have somehow been a better enchanter with the extra mana from robes I passed up...oracle, keeper, and green silken drape. However, I think appearance says quite a bit about a person, and quite often receive compliments on being a good enchanter despite my refusal to wear a robe.

I would like this tunic, though I will probably not hunt in Skyshrine due to faction issues. This is an upgrade to what I'm currently wearing, and the only tunic upgrade I can get in game. I would be quite offended if, after ruining my faction here, the group decided that I would be barred from the roll, simply because the druid "needs it more." Monks who do not have RotLC or better will likely feel the same.

First of all, you posted anonymous, didn't sign, and didn't give server, so I'm gonna flame the s**t of of you the same way.

First. You're a tard. Yes, if there is a druid with me with a 204wis already and they want to roll on this item, guess what, they're rolling. Know why? Just as you pointed out, it's to help friends. Just deciding arbitrarily that so & so needs it, and so & so doesn't, is BS. We ALL play, we ALL pay, we ALL want to have fun. It is NOT fun to work your butt off for a really long time, for those of us who don't have junior high to attend and recruit another 80 12 year olds into a game, no. We WORK. Do you know what that is? Do you, really? Are you CERTAIN?!

I have a level 45 iksar monk who has camped TWO items that he has. TWO. Why? My 51 druid & 51 necromancer have farmed Rathe Mountains for months upon months to buy my trance sticks, to buy my baton of faith, etc.. Why?? Because I'm unfortunate and do not have a large group of people willing to take me in who live in the same time zone.

I, like many, do not have the luxory of just simply logging on and sayin aloud "hi guys, how ya doin today? anything goin on? Oh, a Fear raid? Hmm, well I just found a port to feerrott.. if ya guys got room for me in a group? You do? Great, thanks, I'm OMW!!" -- No, no.. at MINIMUM.. 50% of the ~250,000 players of everquest do NOT have this luxory.

So -- when the day comes that something like this drops, if it's an upgrade and it appeals to me for ANY reason, you can bet your **** I'll be rolling. And most of the rest of us would as well.

"As frequent leader of raiding parties" -- I.E. As a social reject whom has been forced indoors for the duration, I have learned to manipulate people of a fantasy world. I have motivated many people who would otherwise not venture into temple of veeshan to pave the way for me and my up and coming skyshrine quested armor. In fact, I hope to get 3 pieces today. Last week I was only level 43, but with some help from uber loser #4 of dorks anonymous on MithMar, I'm now level 56! Ohh, my skin is so pale.. I can see my veins! I've heard rumors that there is great burning ball in the sky whose rays warm the skin. Is this true? I fear cazic may strike me dead if I venture outside to see. If I do not tend to his slaves he becomes very upset.

....f'n christ get a life, stfu, nobody cares about mr. know it all everquest uber dipshlt that wants to huff, puff, and make an **** out of himself!

Actually, through High Elf cultural smithing, enchanted chain can be made...and wearable by casting elves. Just need some blue diamonds and a smithing skill well over 200 is all. ;)

I hope to be wearing chain as a druid.

Oh, and Crystal Covered Shroud, from Crystal Caverns, is a robe that can be worn by Human Druids! Wonder that! :D

Aye like he said in the second level of SS off of the named wyverns. Been beating them down for several days and this is the first we have seen drop. Its a random drop like almost all of the loot up there. As far as a KSing druid or whatever class may be trying you'd be hard pressed to get to the area wear they drop solo even at 60 due to the amount of mob heavy areas that see invis. Also these guys are like super magis resistant. As far as classes that can wear go - I think its a druid first item. While good for monks its far from great and most monks of a level to get in and fight these guys will have much better already (or should anyways). When it comes to INT casters, well I am one and own one now but only because no druids were with us and the monk thought it was junk. Its far from great for casters but looks cool. It gives the same look as Tizmak armor. Spent the evening going through my different illusions with it on and looks really sweet in Troll form and good in Iskar. Others are ok but nothing outstanding.

druid armor is not plate armor, you loot the leather components for SS armor in ToV, give it to the quest giver along with the gems and get...leather armor in return.

Im a SK and only dropped in to see the stats on the armor. Think the guy who posted class armor was trying to point out there are no quests for armor for his class. It does seem that there are class armor quest for every class but the druids : (. I just got all my DF armor and it wasnt easy but it is nice that at least have been able to get it. I could be wrong but i do think ,Shamans, Warriors, SKs, Paladins, Rouges, Clerics. Rangers all do have armor made only for them. Pure casters im not sure about. So fergehhepewr or whatever ya name is give them alittle break. : )
Druids
# Jan 04 2001 at 6:06 AM Rating: Good
Aenaelil obviously has no clue on the life of a druid. Ya druids solo prob the best ( out doors ). Notice i said out doors. In dungeons we have a real hard time unless we are on a easy closed in spawn ( 1 or 2 mob ) or in a group. And most of the good drops for duids come from dungeons. Our armor either doesnt match well ( looks ) or the stats suck. All other classes do have special type armor that suit them well. Specific armor types for there class. I mean im a 52 lvl druid and look all leather except for the mith bracers i have but my wisdom is 201 and that what counts. So it good to see a new style of armor come for us for a change, sorry for the rant.

All monks train? All wizzies KS? A cleric charged me a for a rez once, so now all are greedy bastards? lol. Grow up a little and enjoy the game. :) This is a very nice item for a class that doesn't get much in the way of gear compared to their peers. Grats Druids. :)

BTW, for any of you who say that necros are the best soloing class, go to BB to the dwarve huts and watch a lvl 35 druid solo 3 dwarves at once where a lvl 40 nec can barely take one.

Druids the BEST soloing class? Heh..you need to wake up buddy. We are good at soloing yes, and we can quadkite yes...but what everyone fails to realize is after our nice little solo, we sit on our rumps for 12mins to med back to full. In that 12 mins you as necro the most mana efficient class in the game, can still take on more and more. I doubt anyone will deny that necromancers have been Verants pet for sometime now. Meanwhile as a 40 druid I'm having to spend many hours just trying to get equipment that will allow me to stay competitive at this lvl. By 40, 90% of int casters will have their intelligence to 200, I'm at 174wis. So before you decide to start a ***** forum next time, why don't you consider the vast advantages you have over another class.
12 minutes?
# Aug 18 2002 at 2:39 AM Rating: Decent
I play a druid... and I quad kite all the time, I don't have to sit and med for 12 minute to med full geez... I pull, kill, sit for maybe 2 minutes (til I got 60-70% mana again) and pull again. When I quadded in DL I would start pulling at 60% mana, and end the fight with 20-30% left over, med for a minute or 2 to get back to 60%ish, then start over. In coblat scar (where I am now) I do the same thing, pull at 60%, end fight with about 20%; only have to med for a couple minutes. Even quadded those silly bulthars at 51 (which I currently am).
RE: Great! :-)
# Feb 18 2001 at 5:30 PM Rating: Default
Yes, druids the best soloing class. Quad kite, you said it yourself. Necros ARE the most mana efficient, but compare the exp you get during quad versus the mana it takes a necro to kill the same four mobs. I believe you'll find it a wash, if not more in favor of the druid. AoE are more mana efficient than dots, provided you can land on the maximum number of targets. I've played both classes to 50 (well, 49 currently, 3 blue bubs to go tho), and can solo (for exp mind you) so much better with the druid than necro. And should you have a friend with clarity I or II, not even close. I would hire a chanter new to clarity, and let him loot my giants (when that was the thing to do ;). Piece of cake

RE: Great! :-)
# Jan 08 2001 at 8:14 PM Rating: Default
1. There is no strength on this item, and weighs 1.2 and rules out the monk.
2. there are way better +int/+mana items out there than this(hello advisor robe sells for 2k most of the time, oracle robe also. and an smr has 9 int) by the time you get to the level to hunt mobs(for a no drop item no less) in skyshrine you can afford then.
3. You obviously dont know how to play a necro if you have a hard time at 40 with dwarves. I play a necro and went 40-46 on dwarves quite nicely(without pet).
4. Most of all, this is probably one of the highest +wis bp's for druids there are. oh yea, go take a look at all the bp's they have for druids, the list is quite short.
5. Whine, *****, ****, moan!!! Shut up already!!
RE: Great! :-)
# Jan 07 2001 at 4:53 PM Rating: Default
Dear Mr Moron;
You have no clue about what you are talking about. For starters Druids only solo well outside,in dungons they sux0r. Unfortunatly most all the places that have decent drops come from dungons and the exp gain indoors is 2x greater than outdoors and almost all the places that are good to hunt for 35+ players are all indoors. Also maybe you can tell me why Necros and Mags seem to be able to level much faster than a druid and there are so many of those classes being played. Druids have no ac, no melee skill, no defense, or offence, and are almost certain to be the first person in a group to die. Hmm maybe a item like this was designed for a druid so they could come and play a little more inside and walk out alive once in a while. As for KS'ing I have been KS'es by Necros, Mags, Wizzies, and even Shamans but never once by a druid although I know there are some out there I have little to fear from them since they don't have the ability to aniohlate a mob in the blink of the eye like so many other classes. My suggestion to you is complete the 3rd grade before playing EQ and always get your mothers permission first so others don't have to listen to your whinning.

You need to do more research into armor, you will see that there are several chest pieces that don't come from the planes and can be worn by Shaman's, Clerics, but no druids and the stats on these pieces put this tunic to shame.

Any druid that loots this with a monk in the party better evac quickly since he'll get ejected immediately :)

Tell a monk without the "camp a week for Raster" robe about an AC13/STA+5/saves tunic for 1.2 weight, and you'll get a Hundred Blows landing on you.

Actually, it looks like a monk, necro, wizard, mage, enchanter AND druid item to me.
Maybe I'm not seeing something right...
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 24 2001 at 11:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Whomever posted above is an idiot. Yes purecasters can wear, monks can also wear. But bottom line... this item is clearly druid gear. The only other class that MIGHT come close to needing this item is a monk because of weight. But they get so many other BP pieces to choose from that dropping this and having a druid in group or hell even near by is a must for the druid. Anyone that doesn't see that hasn't played a druid and seen how frustrating it is not to have 200 wisdom without sacrificing the necessary other stats like AC resists and the like. If you don't like the post, sorry but its the honest truth.
RE: What the heck?!?

The reason Shamans and clerics cant wear this is probably becasue you guys can already wear all the chain mail, and heavier armor, that us druids cant. Its like it matters anyways, by the time you are high enough lvl to loot this, you could probably go to the planes anyway

this is a druid item. casters might want in as well, but that would also be very greedbased. then again, druids arent exactly known for thier lack of greed themselves.
RE: What the heck?!?
# Jan 03 2001 at 11:53 PM Rating: Default
yes, druids tend to be greedy... the way a starving child is greedy for food. This is one of maybe 2 or 3 decent chest items that a DRU can wear but a CLR & SHM can't. I don't know how many pieces are the other way around... as i can't count that high ;)
