I have seen the Eroded Leather Boots drop near the bank, I have also seen the Eroded Chain Legs, Eroded Chain Boots and Eroded Plate Greaves drop near the bank...so you do not have to fight in arena area to get armor drops...but I doubt you we ever see a chest item drop at the bank camp...

okie doke...i got these boots last night...well the dropped part of em anywho heh.

we came in from WL side...cleared all the way up the ramp and started pulling from inside. see'n as i wasnt the puller....and it was my first trip to kael i cant be all that specific =/ BUT i know he wasnt pulling from very far in, and that they dropped from a leuitenant. infact we killed 2 of em and got 2 pairs of leather boots....good or bad luck depending on how ya look at it heh. we had one full group between 40 and 54 with the MA only being a 47 pally. so chin up little ones =) ya dont have to be all 'uber' and what not to get whatcha want, just send all your buddies tells at 3 o clock in the morning and say HEY! whataya think about going to kael tonight? =)

Good luck to ya all

Heya Teph -

The eroded can drop off any mob in Kael level 50 or so +. Have seen it drop off mobs as low as 45 though as well. Armor drops are most frequent in Arena (up ramps) though occasionally you can get lucky with a drop inside arch off Senior Guards, Lt's etc. Chanter house will drop leather pieces, as well as bank / safehall pull area.

Arena can be held safely by a strong 55+ group, or 2 good 50+ groups - as the mobs hit hard, and you have to be prepared for adds. Personal experience is 1 drop per hour (average) of either plate, chain, or leather; and sometimes can score a single mob with up to three quest pieces in a single kill :)

Hope that helps -

I have a pair of these boots, stats are ok for 50 + but the nice part about them is the fact that
you can free up a spell gem slot for something else
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 13 2003 at 2:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you kept sow in your gem cue at lvl 50+ your insane. I'm getting these just so I don't have to switch my stupid spells in and out.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 21 2001 at 5:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why would they make this stuff Beastlord? Its custom made for druids. Not only that but good druid equipment is rare at best, if not almost unattainable. Ok, Beastlord can only wear leather, great, does that mean they have to highjack a whole seperate class' stuff? Weak, and lazy.

I don't know about the rest of you but I had over 200 wis at level 39 and I am still wearing the small tattered boots I tailored at level 2. This is a superior upgrade than GEBS or any other wis boots you can name for me, perm sow, more cha for charming, and 10 mana is better than the 9 mana I'd get on GEBS plus more AC? how can I go wrong with these?

Actually the sow on these is triggered, not permanent. Sent in the correction. As for the AC, its not all that bad for a druid at the level it takes to get these, 1 group of 50+ can farm the Arena in Kael as long as you have a warrior, cleric and chanter.
RE: Great Boots
# Oct 12 2002 at 10:40 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, with my druid I've farmed arena many times, grouped with just a chanter and a cleric. Dire charm a giant at bridge, then give it aego and other buffs, and you'll have no need for any melee class to be with you, and yes some of the bridge guards fall into the under level 48 category of DC.. try it if you dont believe it.

Careful there. 10 mana at level 10 is 10 mana, 9 wisdom at level 10 is 18 mana and goes up considerably. Wisdom is multiplied by level divided by five to equate to mana.

10 mana at level 10 is 10 mana, 9 wisdom at level 10 is 18 mana.
-- /Quote --

To clarify this a bit further:

The mana you gain from each WIS is 0.2 mana per level, so a 9 WIS item at level 10 is:

0.2 x 9 x 10 = 18 mana
RE: Great Boots
# Feb 12 2002 at 8:34 AM Rating: Default
At lvl 60 at 200+ wisdom you get 6 mana per wis post-SoL. Therefore from E-boots you'd get an extra 36 mana. Basically an extra Ensnare at FM. Throw these SoW boots into a general inventory slot unless you are the type who would actually wear your j-boots on your feet (if they can even be equiped, don't know if they can be.)

You have sow memed 24/7?
# Jun 03 2001 at 3:46 AM Rating: Default
OK, pls dont call me a nooB, but you actually keep sow memed? im lvl 53 and since lvl 35 i have not had sow memed for longer than 10 minutes. Its a relativly easy spell to mem and dont require than much time to cast.. wth the /book <page> it makes finding and meming a heck of a lot faster.. with these boots i wouldnt even bother meming it.. like my elder spiritist helm (casts super invis) i never wear it cept when i cast!

Most of the time I don't keep sow memmed either, but when I fight mobs that can dispel it's always loaded. Those nasty Chromodracs have a habit of getting in dispel range just as my DoT is landing.

Having these boots while kiting would have saved me a couple times. I have on occation tried to kite mob's that I prolly shouldnt have been fighting. So there I am with the mob at 1/2 life and me at 10% mana wondering why my SoW icon is blinking - DOH. No worries, just run a bit ahead and load sow. Hhhmmmm... whats that message? You're ensnare spell has worn off. Disbelief, shock and panic. Root. resist :( ROOT!! Yay - it stuck. OH NO - You're root spell has worn off. <insert much profanity about a 3 second root> Begin prayer that gate won't be interrupted. You have been slain by something you had no business fighting. /sigh I suck as a druid.

I'm not going to call you a noob. You have a system that works for you and that's cool.

However, I am a level 52 druid as I write this and I almost always have SoW memmed unless I am on a raid in a zone where SoW cannot or should not be used. I'm the sort of druid who spends a fair amount of my time around other folks and I find that SoW is a spell I generally need to have ready all the time.

SoW is life. Of all the spells we druids ever have, none of them do more to help people stay alive when things turn ugly than SoW.

:)

# Apr 13 2001 at 4:43 PM Rating: Default
I have these boots, they are NOT perma sow, which makes them almost worthless. Basically I keep my GEBs on and when sow starts fading, I equip the boots and start casting. No, they do not proc from a general slot (I wish they did =\). I got the eroded leather boots from a Veteran level 57 in Kael and the gems from Velks lab kobolds.

Need to keep SoW memmed. Some pker comes by and zaps you with a golem wand you don't want to have to mem the spell then cast it on yourself. Hill bug the pker off, then SoW yourself and get to a place where you can med up and track him and take him out :)
#Anonymous, Posted: May 24 2001 at 11:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All of you little nothings sit there and cry about the boots not realy being perma-SoW. they should have been perma-SoC if you ask me...oh look im a lvl 24+ druid im going to SoW my self even though i can SoC my self and move at 2X the speed...You guys realy have some brains in your heads
RE: Try this one
# Jun 18 2001 at 9:11 PM Rating: Default
Ummm SoC is like 6minute recast is self only and only lasts 45seconds. Are u a a moron? You cannot keep SoC up unless u found some magical mystical way to recast it every 45 seconds. SoC is meant for escaping mobs when ur in trouble, IE. a mob aggros that run faster than sow and they resist snare. So obviously your not a druid or are just delusional.
RE: Try this one
# Jun 07 2002 at 4:28 PM Rating: Decent
just to clarify, SoC...10min recast and 17sec duration.
RE: Try this one

No, he is not a moron, but ovbiously YOU are. He never said anything about SoC, just SoW (Spirit of Wolf, yes, Wolf still starts with a W even when you shorten it...)

RE: Try this one
# Jul 27 2001 at 11:55 PM Rating: Default
/sigh please don't make fun of people because they don't know stuff. i remember when i was lvl 24 and i thought i was bugged because spirit of cheetah wasn't coming up like my regular spells. although i think the guy pretty much has a valid point on the SOC i mean if you have to recast it every 45 secs it wouldn't be lopsiding the class if you had that as a proc on say the sky shrine or kael armor which is supposed to be the ubby versions of this, although i don't get why ppl are so up in arms about GEBs right now i know they are very good wis wise but being on the boarderline of 200 pretty much my whole eq life, well since 30 but the 1-30 part of the game was about 30 months if and up to the point i am now several. i'm at lvl 53 now and i'm almost at my epic just a few more things and i'd pretty much love these, i'll be at 215 when i get the epic so when i get it my 2 wis boots and my wis rings are disappearing so i have room for resist gear. and these boots. just my humble opinion though
RE: Not perma sow
# Apr 13 2001 at 4:46 PM Rating: Default
Forgot to mention, the cast time is longer than the spell, by about .5-1 second. But since they recast instantly it is still good for sowing a raid group etc.

truth about these

Not perma-sow but right-clickable. The only time I really use them over GEBs is when I'm charming...

# Mar 14 2001 at 3:23 AM Rating: Default
Just got them and i dont know if something changed but they dont give permanent sow i was dissapointed.. they just give right click cast SoW. Pretty fast cast though. at eleast frees up a spell slot
dont worry bout beggars askin for sow
# Mar 12 2001 at 1:00 PM Rating: Default
this is awsome - i hate to be begged for sow every 5 seconds but this way i dont mind. but too bad it has no wisdom :(
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 10 2001 at 12:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) if you think these save you a spell slot you are a chicken...i have a 55 Druid and i have never kept sow memmed. unless it is being dispelled...(how often does that happen outdoors anyway)...you should know how long your sow is gonna last by its relativity to other buffs or just by time and experience....keeping sow memmed is a big waste....my druid from slot 1 to 8 goes ....Snare..Root..Breath of Ro....Scoriae...Fury of Air (or other lesser nuke or damage shield even) ...Winged Death..Fixation of Ro...Regrowth(or a direct heal)...

I don't know about other people, but I play to play with others and I keep sow memed so I don't have to go for my spell book every time I'm asked for a sow. I don't need all those "combat" spells memed all the time. I only mem the stuff I use, and I know, when I'm around other people, I'm using SOW a LOT.
CONCISE INFORMATION ON LOCATION OF QUEST DROPS!!!!
# Mar 05 2001 at 2:58 PM Rating: Default
The Crushed Flame Emeralds drop in Icewell Keep, off of Frost Spikes, Frosticubes, Avalanche Golems, and Coldain Skeles. The Eroded Leather Boots(like ALL Eroded Leather) drop ONLY off of level 53+ giants in Kael - THEY MUST BE LEVEL 53 OR HIGHER, OR ELSE THEY WON'T DROP ERODED LEATHER!
I hope that this clears everything up, for those looking to complete the quest. Three emeralds, one pair of boots, and you'll never need a SoW again. And remember - THIS EFFECT IS NOT ITEM-CAST, IT'S PERMANENT, meaning that it's on ALL THE TIME. Tell me that's not sweet....

We had a pair of eroded leather boots drop off a giant that was below 53. I don't recall him summoning, so I believe he was below 51. On the down side, the monk won the roll =(. We also got a pair of the pants for the caster quests. I have heard that the BPs only drop off 53+ giants further into Kael than we went with our single party.

Don't know that I would ALWAYS wear these over my GEboots, but there are definate uses for them. First, I have a pile of twinks aside from my druid and an extra 13 Cha is about a 12% boost in sale prices of all items. Secondly, and this is imho the best deal...I get SoW inside Kedge Keep now. I know half of you couldnt find Kedge with two rangers and all your teleports, but with it's 20% exp bonus for being underwater and some of the high level drops (not to mention being totally undercamped), this makes playing in Kedge a little easier, and every little bit helps.

You little whiny pukes need to shut your mouths and quit crying because you cant run out and scoop up this item like you could with most items in the old days. I remember when RMB's and RTS's were the bomb on servers and it was a little difficult to get them back in EQ's early days. If you wanna whine, stow it and move on, these boards are not for your crying and insults. Most of you sound like a sniveling group of rich kids that just lost their weeks allowance. Go find some info, stuff we wanna hear, and POST it...don't sit here and cry. I don't care what you people say. Permanent SOW would be the bomb. No Drop? %$#! yeah! +13 charisma? Why the heck not?! 6.0 lbs? SO WHAT? This is a great item, its a trumped up pair of J-boots. Quit expecting the Silver Spoon people and take what you can get. Sheesh. Got a problem with this? Come visit Weehawk on Rallos Zek and vent your frustrations if you want. Still wanna cry? Try playing on a real server then and come to Rallos Zek and then you'll see just how important and great this no drop gear is. Nuff said, no coppers needed.

I can't believe it Druids finally get an armor quest and people are picking on the stats. You need to look at the big picture, the armor as a whole. I don't care that these don't have wis, the rest of the armor has some. This PERMANENT sow leaves a spell spot open, never uses mana and never runs out :) Look at the other armor TP without using mana and the other stuff. PLUS it looks good on you :) I WANT THEM ALL. There are going to be a lot of good looking people out there. Not just Druids. Good luck getting yours and if and when you do I want to see it on you. Give me a tell on Lanys. Nendaru

Where does Eroded and the other items drop? =) plz
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 07 2001 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There is nothing wrong with these boots Druids lack CHA which is used to CHARM animals also when you are Kiting, its very nice to have sow with out usage of mana especialy if you run out of mana and sow drops these boots will save your life as for the weight 6 weight is no big deal most druids by the time they have these boots have a fair amount of STR items to compensate plus you have STR spells as for the saves any plus in a resist is a good one. Over all these are great boots for Druids and people who whine about it are prob not even high enough level to obtain them. So next time you see a item that you think sucks becuase it lacks WIS take a good look at what it has to offer a Druid is not composed entirely of WIS.
Eval on this item..
# Jan 04 2001 at 8:55 PM Rating: Default
Hmmm..Not to concerned with CHA, and they probably should have just left the 1 point to each save against out, because that's not going to do much for ya, but any mana is cool, and the perma-sow is exceptional in nature. I will say this: GEBS outside, and these inside, but only if you're in tight situation, and you do no thave SoW on, but that's it. These boots are not resist material, and they do not provide WIS, so they're really limited to just saving your ***, like someone in another thread has posted. Cheers.

Gawd, half of ya sound like a bunch of Necro's who wont be happy until they can summon pets who appear with two Yak's, can cast SoW and Teleport and have the same Sta as an ogre. Okay, these aren't the greatest boots known to man. If they had made em +6 wis some of ya would be complaining "wha! Only +6 wis!" Get over it already, dem's the breaks. These boots are not bad. I agree they're a heavy but jeez, by the time you can do the quest you should have a huge str buff. As far as weight reducing your speed...even slightly encumbered you'll outrun a non-SoW'ed creature at all times, and you know this. Quit actin like a bunch of 3 year olds who can't watch Barney.
