considering that this is the one and only source for this cloak, and there are two farmable sources for the CoF (dont count Ixiblat Fer because you'd have to do the clr 1.0 epic over and over to farm him..) you'd think this one would be the higher priced cloak..

Kerlorek`Dar was up in CS so I thought I might try to go solo him. I was down to 50m and he was at 70% health so I was going to get my cleric when 2 guildies offered to help. The three of us (70 DRU/MNK/SHM) slaughtered him in about 2 minutes and much to our surprise, he dropped 3 CoCWs -- 1 for each of us!

if they both the same in stats and haste, why is flame 20k higher the the Water cloak??

Because they are NOT the same. Cloak of Flames has 50 hp instead of mana.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 05 2003 at 8:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is and will forever be a hybrid cloak. Great for paladins, rangers, and shadowknights, but it's totally wasted on warriors. If you're a warrior and you have one of these, trade it for a CoF.

Obviously, this is a cloak for any race and any class who likes it.

You mean trade it and 30Kpp for cloak of flames :/

On my server, CoCW sells for 40-50kpp.

Cloak of flames is 70-80k.

Sorry, my warrior will wear this until I have 30k burning a hole in my pocket.

wtf are u saying.. a CoCW has same stats as a CoF cept it is 15cold instead of 15fire an 50mana instead of 50 hp, its the inverse cloak for pallys/sks/an other hybrid classes... in all reason these cloaks are worth the same, and i would NEVER pay an extra 30k just to get 50hp an 15svcold, to me its just not worth 30k, if i waste 30k its on some cobalt greaves....

Hybrids care more about hp then mana, I bet many don't even notice this cloak. It's prolly just a haste item with no hp to them.

Indeed drops of Kalorek'Dar with all that other stuff well as a 2hs 30/45 32% haste 10str =/ warrior only. Nice cloak same as COF in everything but saves, and usually 10-20k cheaper on BB if your buyin it. Easy kill...very easy.

# Dec 25 2001 at 9:49 AM Rating: Default
I Sold this cloak on Tarew Marr for 80kpp exactly... In the past 2 weeks my guild + farm friends have killed this dragon 2 times... First time he dropped 2 spells (arch lich and some wizard thing), the rogue piercer 9/20... and TWO Cloaks... we meritted one to the person who needed and since no one needed the other we open rolled - i won - (as a 60 druid)...My RL friend also won the Salty Sea Dragon Steak...The 2nd time we fought this guy we brought a few more people about 14...first time it was 9 people... This time he dropped 3 Biolumi Orbs which we meritted to the 3 casters since there were only 3 there... he dropped no steak, no cloaks, just some scales and 2 spells again...but 3 lumi orbs

I Figure this guy is better to farm then Lodizal because cloak = 80k, Sea Dragon Steak makes Omthir Prexus Totem = 80k, Bio Lumiorbs = 30k... but multiple items drop so for about 9 people you are making mad cash...just get all 60s in full skyshrine and this guy is a joke

perm and proc?
# Dec 06 2001 at 9:55 AM Rating: Default
i know this has a perm haste but does it also proc? i heard that it may like at level 55 is this true?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 14 2001 at 4:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) does this stack with any other hastes?
RE: stack?
# Apr 26 2002 at 7:51 AM Rating: Good
Haste stacks, but from the three different methods of delivery. Those methods of delivery are song, spell, and permanent item effect. So, say someone has a monk epic, they have to refresh thier epic every six seconds, it counts as a bard song. It would stack with a Cloak of Flames (permenant item effect) AND a Speed of Shisar (enchanter epic effect). However the ranger you HAD in your group leaves and now you pick up a bard.... so now your monk epic and bard haste song would compete for prescadance, and only the higher haste song would take effect.
#KalRox, Posted: Aug 15 2002 at 8:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually ,there are only 2 bard songs that will stack with all other haste. 1 gives 5% more haste, the other 10%. apart from that you can only have 1 item with haste (say, this cloak) and 1 spell/song.(from chanter/shaman/bl/bard etc).
RE: stack?
# Aug 15 2002 at 10:30 AM Rating: Good
KalRox, you are almost right... But here's the lowdown on bard haste stacking with item/spell haste:

Battlecry of the Vah Shir, my level 52 stacking haste, adds 15% to the total haste and will allow the wielder to exceed the haste cap. So it stacks with item and chanter/shaman haste. If there was also a level 60 bard in the group playing Warsong, that would add yet another 25% haste, since Warsong stacks with Battlecry. So you can benefit from the effect of 2 bard songs at once, and bard stacking haste can definitely exceed 10%.

Now the bard epic proc, Dance of the Blade, adds 55% but does not stack with spells (i.e., chanter/shaman haste or monk epic). You may see both icons up at the same time, but the higher haste will prevail. However, it does stack with item haste and Warsong and Battlecry.

So, if you wear the CoCW (36% item haste) and have a level 60 epic bard in your group along with a level 52 or higher bard, you would have 131% haste.

Here's the breakdown:
36% CoCW item haste + 55% DotB epic proc (spell haste) + 15% Warsong (stacking song haste that exceeds the haste cap) + 25% Battlecry (stacking song haste that exceeds the haste cap.)

Nifty, eh?

Unfortunately battlecry and warsong do not stack so the maximum haste available is 125% (100% cap plus 25% stacked warsong). There's no question that 36% is nice haste. However for most players that primarily raid, an item with 34% haste like a seahorse belt is perfectly adequate due to the presence of shissar haste.

Really the choice between an item like this and something like the belt (which is cheaper) comes down to what your alternative non-haste item is in each slot. For someone that groups primarily with no chanters this has a very slight advantage (2% haste) but by no means enough to offset the larger equipment picture.

RE: stack?
# Aug 29 2002 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
Also note the soft cap in haste (which, if I remember correctly is 75 or 80%). So, the max haste you could possibly get, presuming you hit the soft cap via item/spell haste, plus both of the Vah Shir-lined songs (presuming, again, that they do indeed stack), would be 120% (80% soft cap haste, +40%). Now, if they would just remove that derned soft cap, Erollisi knows how high you could get your haste!

at 60 there is no soft cap. at 60 the haste cap is 100 percent. do some testing and You will see this for yourself. with bard song you can exceeed this as dude posted. and yess its VerY noticable increase! my 51/54 swings like holy#$$%^%ing mad with bard song.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 06 2001 at 12:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Haste items dont stack, unless you have an item that casts it, or casts a bard haste song
Killled him yesterday
# Apr 23 2001 at 3:31 PM Rating: Good
We got him yesterday. We pulled him to the part of the beach where there are no otter men. He dropped the Cloak, 2-3 spells, 2 9/20 rogue piercers, a scale, and a bioluminescent orb. Not bad.

He did not fear anyone. He did not hit exceptionally hard. He seems to have a cold based area effect. Sometimes it hit me for 100, other times it hit for 1000. Overall, he is not a tough kill. I think 2 groups of 60's with good group balance could take him. You may want to bring 4, just to be safe.

The haste on the cloak is 36%. It matched my Cloak of Flames. Personally, I'll take the CoF. The extra hitpoints do more for a TSK than the extra mana. :)

His name is Kelorak'Dar, or something close anyway. I think it is comprable to the cloak of flames dropped by the old school dragons, except with cold resist. I think he is on a 3 day spawn cycle and before the patch he was pretty easy to take down. Now he might have been upgraded a little bit, haven't been in a party that went after him since Velious was tweaked.

Oh, boo and hiss yourself..

Not EVERYTHING can have FBSS or Dragonborn level haste.. I for one, would LOVE this cloak, as I have nothing to speed up my Dwarven Sap.

THink ahbout it a sec.. A warrior, with Dual wield, and Double attack, Using a pair of Lamentation. Now, you're already making ribbons of damn near everything. NOW. Take even MORE time off the Lam's delay. EVEN if it only drops your weapon delay to 1.5, thats stilla ******** better than you started out with.

Anybody who whines about haste %, prolly ******* about Donal's BP too.. get over it.. if you want faster, go GET faster.

OK for any of you still wondering about what drops this here goes.

This is dropped by a lv 60+ sea dragon that lives in the waters of cobalt scar named Kelorek Dar. He fears ALOT and hits obscenely fast and hard. Takes many groups of 55+ to drop this guy. I have witnessed his arrival on to shore near the othmir camp once and it was quite a scene. 15 otters and a raid beating on an uber dragon was quite entertaining while i was getting feared consistantly. Eventually I got summoned and hit 8 times for 200 damage in under 3 seconds. And im not exaggerating in the least.

Happy hunting
