These arms do suck, and that's all there is to it.

Get ya some Nasthar or maybe Blood Weave.

These Thurg sleeves though? They blow.
lol

im i who loves doing his quest but this yeah right(sell the gems make a profit) ive stuck with blood weave sleeves
ac5,str2,wis5,int5,agi2,svf-5,svp5,svd5
there may be no pure mana put compared to rowyls vambs these kick there *** in to touch
RE: i agree
# Dec 05 2002 at 2:42 PM Rating: Decent
30 mana gives more mana than 5 wis, and once your wis is capped you get nothing for more wis. in other words, straight mana rocks. =P
these arems are decent but... the arms are one of the druid thurg pieces that isnt too great, along with the gloves and boots.
RE: i agree
# Dec 04 2002 at 12:03 AM Rating: Excellent
You guys forget about alot of things....when Velious came out there was no such thing as good tailored items and No2 alot of high stat items either. This quest like all the other ones are over 3 years old? how many of you even played then ?
Yes... these do suck
# Jul 13 2002 at 2:41 PM Rating: Decent
Just like to say... yes, these arms DO suck pretty bad. Like Ziakas said before, these are about as good as ulthork arms. I have Nathsar Arms myself, paid 1k for them (dunno if it's a good price or if i was ripped off, but whatever). You can get 1k from selling the 3 gems you need to make these =P

AT 45th-60th LVL, THIS QUEST IS A JOKE.
Rowyl Bracers or Vambracers?
# Mar 04 2002 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
I wonder, if I have done something wrong? There are the much better Bracers with wis +7 and effect drones of doom.

Is it the same eroded leather sleeves item that I can combine with either 3 jaundice gems or 3 crushed opals? Or did they change the quest, cause this armour peace really sucks?
These suck
# Feb 12 2002 at 9:01 AM Rating: Default
Just had to get this off my chest. These do suck, period. I saw some posts about +mana this and that. Sometimes mana isn't everything, such as when it's the only thing on a piece of armor. Scalemail/Nathsar/Elysian/Vermi/PoG/SS arms are all better than these. For god's sake people are comparing them to ULTHORK! Ulthork..the stuff you let rot when you quad them for tusks to turn into the Othmir in CS for BDs and diamonds cuz they're too heavy and don't fetch much pp at vendors! Ugh. These gems sell to vendors for 50pp a piece, you'd do MUCH better to give this leather to monks/BSTs and save yourself the trouble of creating an item you'll have to destroy later cuz yer bank is full. Heck, if you win the roll loot em and MQ them for a monk or a druid that doesn't know any better and thinks cuz it's Rowyl's it has to be uber. Charge em 500 for the MQ and walk away happy :)
ES Vamps

Get your ES Vamps in KC, Keep your ES Vamps. never waste gems on these. These do suck.
Thanks for nothing Verant

# Dec 02 2001 at 10:37 PM Rating: Decent
Sure, 1 less AC than ulthork hide, 1 less wis than ulthork hide, 3 dex MORE than ulthork hide (Ulthork hide sleeves are 8 ac 3 wis -3 dex)... but they are 30 more mana. If you are high enough level to do these quests then you most likely have 200+ wis and need + mana instead.
yer right

These really do suck, guys... but when it's the first piece I had the gems for and they're free for Tunare's sake, why not?

I wouldn't buy jaundice gems, but I've looted nearly a dozen so far... and I won the lotto on the raid for the leather.

I'm not proud; I'll wear 'em on dressup occasions.

these do suck
# Sep 08 2001 at 10:41 PM Rating: Default
i would let these rot. most of the druid kael quest armor sucks. i myself have passed on the boots and gloves, and wouldn't want these either.

giant scalemail sleeves are much better, and drop a lot more often.

as for people saying "well, everything doesn't have to be good!"...check the other pieces. they suck too. and keep in mind, this is the questable armor (upgrades) to planes armor. it should be just that, an upgrade, but it's not.

anyone who thinks these are good for a 50+ druid must not be actively trying to upgrade their gear.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 02 2001 at 2:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For a druid, you don't really need AC or HPs. Druids mainly kite or solo and they don't sit up there getting hit on by mobs. I got a lvl 54 druid on VZ and I know by now that you dont have to focus on your AC or HPs. It is better to focus on your resist, but if you are from the non pvp servers, it might differ. I still think resist is more important than hps or ac because when u getting nuked by a mob for 500 dmg it will hurt. If you say you got 150 FR you'll only take like 50 dmg (maybe less). Druids are not made to tank. As I read earlier someone said AC helps root break???! Just get high mr and you won't be rooted in the first place.
RE: druids are uber
# Jun 06 2001 at 12:32 PM Rating: Default
Yes, druids need AC and HP, especially at high levels, if they're grouping (i.e. not soloing). A druid kiting usually doesn't need AC at all unless he or she makes a mistake. When grouping, however, druids will generate aggro, usually via backup healing, ensnaring, or on the epic-level MOBs, sundering. I've managed to get 200 WIS, close to 900 AC, 100 FR and CR, and about 1700 (I think) HP with my normal armor set and self buffs.

However, this has nothing to do with the Rowyl's piece listed above. The arms blow chunks. Giant Scalemail Arms are droppable, much better, and WAY easier to get. Unless the vambraces (and boots) are your last pieces for the set (and you want a full set), they're not worth the powder it would take to blow them up.

" if they're grouping (i.e. not soloing). "

Lol. I guess you have to clarify what grouping means (not soloing) when you're talking to druids.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 19 2001 at 12:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) These are very disappointing.
- stick with hollow bones
# Jul 10 2001 at 6:19 AM Rating: Default
These are a major disappointment in the series. while thez give one a small amount of WIS and some mana (total of 50 mana at level 50), I would rather stick with my Hollow bone bracers. Ac6 Mana +15 MR+7. Sellin for around 300pp...=) sure some less mana ( 35mana at 50th - one small root, to be precise) but MR+7. then again I play on VZ, where MR is important. And those people who can actually angle for this piece could also have the much more utilitarian ES Vambraces... my 5 cents
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 10 2002 at 4:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wow, do they let you wear Bracers on your arms on VZ? Cuz these are SLEEVES...not bracers...Vambraces DOES NOT = Bracers..

Hollowed Bone Bracers are sleeves also so what he said is correct.

RE: stats
# Jun 26 2001 at 1:37 AM Rating: Default
I agree, actually. These are only marginally beter than the Ulthork's (30 mana will be more than the 1 less wis, I think, save maybe level 60,) but 1 less AC? Sure, the Ulthorks have -3 dex, but we're talking about something that drops on a mob that you can solo at 39ish, and QUAD KITE at 41 or 42. I was at 42.

Most of the rest of the suit seems pretty spiffy, though.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 13 2001 at 8:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After 200 wis AC should be the main focus. I just learned this after a year of playing. I dont melee either (to the above ********* but AC does determine how much damage you take be it from a root breaking, being summoned or whatever. Resists are nice add-ons though I think your level vs the level of mob are much more important.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 25 2001 at 6:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I really dunno why I should go through the effort of doing these armor quests, true the stats rock but I really don't need the ac or any other stat increases. I have my wisdom to 201 and that's pretty much all I need

Fine, then don't..
<rant>
No one is holding a gun to your head, no one is going to force you to the Arena in Kael, no one is going to tie you up and whip you for not sitting at said arena for 8 hours waiting for the various bits of the elusive eroded leather to drop.

And no one is going to give a toss whether you go to Velks or Icewall to get the gems or not.

But as for saying you've gotten to 200 and that's pretty much all you need.. BS... The idea at that point is to keep your 200 wis and add +MANA items, like the item above.. and as for not needing other stat increases.. how about +resists on other Rowyl's stuff? don't need them either?

Get a clue.

Weight is now 1.5 on these...

risk vs reward
# Mar 13 2001 at 10:27 AM Rating: Default
While these arms dont "suck" as some are saying, I feel their ac/wis should at LEAST be equal to the Ulthork arms you can get my pushing over walrus men in EW .. risk vs reward here.
200 wis
# Feb 12 2001 at 1:50 AM Rating: Default
If you have 200 wis and a Rowyl's bracer, **** all else. These have 30 raw mana on em making them much better than giant scalemail or a plat armband. And now that you won't need ES vams *if you have the bracer that is* these are a great replacement. I hope to be sporting full Rowyl's armor soon.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 04 2001 at 8:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) how about those:
Eroded?
# Jan 12 2001 at 8:52 PM Rating: Default
Where does eroded and the other gem componets drop? =)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 05 2001 at 6:01 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You people have no clue what you are talking about. Once you hit the 200 wis cap, it is pointless to continue getting WIS items cause you are only getting 1 mana for each point of wis over 200. After you hit the 200 mark, you start concentrating on Mana and AC, and to be honest, these are GREAT! Alot of this quest/plane/etc armor is made to be a set. One you have some of the other pieces you don't need +10 wis on every piece, after 200 wis I want mana and AC, but you can have all the wis ya want I guess. You will find this out yourself when you hit the cap and start seeing how useless alot of the items are that have high wis but low or no AC. And yes, if you are good, you will get rid of those eboots cause simply put, you don't need over 200 wis.

While I agree with your assessment that high level druids stop seeking wisdom items I disagree that they should seek AC and mana items only. One should not ignore items with resistance bonuses as it can be very helpful to avoid those AE spell-casters in high-level encounters. I prefer items with resistance over items with +mana personaly but to each his own. Unfortunetly there isn't too much to pick from in terms of the arms slot for us druids. In my opinion, Vermiculated Armsplates and Withered Leather Sleeves are better (not by much tho). If they added some resistance modifiers to this item I would want it, but as is I'd only get them for the look (I assume they have a nifty look when worn).
RE: Also...
# Jun 07 2002 at 8:53 PM Rating: Decent
I have /agree Alpox, the higher I get the harder it seems to balance armor, I find that resist are key to staying alive in many encounters. Having the right wis/mana/resist gear for different zones keeps my bank full of special use gear. I have shifted my focus of "wis" gear aquisition to gear that has a broader range of stats. Agreed WIS is vital to the solo druid and we all need it, but to the grouping druid on high end mobs we need to shift our focus. /em tosses out 2cp

Was just wondering if the components for this item were in Kael, i.e. the Eroded leather and corresponding gems? Thanks for any info.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 28 2000 at 10:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So you think that EVERY f'n piece HAS to best another piece.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 30 2000 at 4:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) But low levels can't get them, can they? This item does suck, because druids arent interested in AC, they are interested in WIS. This is only +2. There is ton better that are easier to get.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 31 2000 at 3:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what a dip hole, hehe if you can obtain these you wisdom should be maxed in the first place and ac and mana should now be you focus. go back to EC newb
RE: Idiot.
# Jan 04 2001 at 3:53 AM Rating: Default
I think this is a great sleeve, for one thing if you new 30mana equals 3wis for a lvl 50, so these sleeves do +50 mana and 8ac to you 50, i think they are good dont you?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 06 2001 at 5:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I didn't think that +30 Mana was equal to 3 WIS. Oh well. Maybe they are good after all. I still just like making an *** of myself when I am Anonymous. ;)
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 28 2000 at 2:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well being a halfling i can't wear giant scalemail. druid halflings are very limited in wisdom sleeve department.

Ulthork hide is the way to go, ac 8 I think, +3 WIS arms, look pretty cool too. Or, at least get a plat armband, 3STR/3WIS ALL/ALL.

D'uh...Once yoiu get 200 wis then items like this start to become very useful.
RE: they suck. even giant scalemail arms are better
# Dec 28 2000 at 2:11 PM Rating: Default
Yeah i agree. I hit 200 wisdom with my druid without even using visable body armor. Stuff like this is nice. + mana is always welcome in slots not using wisdom.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 30 2000 at 4:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) These arms still suck... If you are high enough to have 200 WIS, you should have a Plat Armband or better.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 31 2000 at 4:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) UMM AT LEVEL 50 IS THIS LIKE HAVING +5 WIS ON A CHAR WITH THE +2 WIS AND +30 MANA THAT MAKES A PLATIUM ARMBAND LOOK LIKE CRAP AND DRUIDS DO NEED TEH AC YOU WILL GET HIT.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 01 2001 at 10:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ummm.... Druids primary concern isn't AC, ********
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 19 2001 at 7:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It should be their secondary though.
