What do you do with these when you no longer need them?
# Nov 11 2003 at 4:55 PM Rating: Decent
i have these and am a rogue, got em back in may i think. the stats are pretty crappy for a rogue, but the ac is nice. i am saving up for hardened links of clay, not much ac but nice stats :) or even find the corroded chain leggings, but i never get to kael anymore anyway...

Was raiding in Kael last night on Maelin. These dropped and I /random 110 for a 28 =(...much to my surprise the other druid rolled a 22. W00t new leggings for me...damn these are so awesome

just got these today. only about a group of 12 of us in the arena just going there for faction, no one else wanted to roll on these besides my 55 cleric.

fools. well i lucked out. its rare to see something this nice drop off normal mobs in the arena besides just quest armor pieces.

awesome cleric legs. i upgraded from acrylia studded and got 10 more ac 2 more wis and some hp. the 10sv magic is awesome too.

wow, was looking around for a new set of leggings to try and replace my KML's with and came across these. these are great legs for any class listed, but i would indeed love them on my druid. i also stayed long enough to read the entire list of posts, and thought i'd add a few good reasons a druid would want AC myself.

1. Debuffs. if you think you dont need AC as a druid you are a fool, plain and simple. dont think grouped druids get hit? then you suck as a group druid. i have done a bunch of 50+ raids, and once i hit 56 i found every nuker in my raid party waiting on a simple message from me: /1 Debuffed [ %T ] with Ro's Smoldering Disjunction, fry %p *****
holy mother of aggro is this a good way to get pummeled. druids have hands down the best debuff spell in the game, and they will be casting it a lot. they pay for it in mad aggro. you think Slow ticks em off? try lowering their AC, ATK, SvF and hitting them with a 150dd nuke all at once. AC is important. it will save you more times than you can count after a beduffed mob decides to summon you for some face to face time.

2. crowd control. any druid worth his group slot knows that in an outdoor area he is the ghetto chanter. casters getting beat on? chain nuke to aggro, run it a little ways off, and park it. and when it's just you and that 50 shissar revenant or 55 disturbed elysian away from your pals, you tell me how bad you want good AC then.

sorry to run off topic, but i cant believe a druid wouldnt see the value in a great item like this. if i happen to be lucky enough to see a set drop my next time in Kael, i wont be argueing that these are best suited to a druid. but im damn sure keeping them if i win the roll.

if you're drawing aggro, and not the MT, then you're not doing your job.

Pingponging a mob sucks alot more than any benefit gained from that debuff.

"druids have hands down the best debuff spell in the game"

Sorry but have to disagree with you there buddy...and I think that alot of people in game will also like melee and clerics and any healer for that matter! Plus in order for you to get this on you have to have the chanter cast Tashani and the shm (get ALOT of agro) cast Malo/Insidious Decay/Malosini. Now that is not on every mob but on most raid quality mobs you need most of that to guarantee you get your one debuff to stick. And then you know what the shaman gets to grab even more agro by casting Turgurs or Plague of insects and then occasionally cripple (now of course this all depends on number of shm and or chanters there). I am not knocking druids at all they are awesome and I love mine. I play 59 shaman 54 druid and a 51 warrior quite a bit so I do have experience with all 3 of them on raids of some sort (meaning Planes or higher). I just hate to see any caster other than a chanter or cleric think they get more agro than a shm...if you do then you are casting WAY too early on the mobs.

Ro's Disjunction/Sundering, both are AC/ATK/Fire Resist/Cha debuffs. Not the BEST debuff in the game, but it sure as heck causes a LOT of aggro. It's Fire based though, and has a hard time getting resisted, so after a good Mal line lands this will almost always land first cast. Of course, if you just wait until the mob is slowed, then you never get touched, cause it's not QUITE as much aggro as having your DPS reduced by 75%. Just wanted to let you know that Tash doesn't affect this landing at all.

What other healers are there after Cleric, Druid, Pally, and Shaman? Rangers refuse to even load a healing spell, necros and SKs only get reverse taps, who else casts healing spells? Just wondered what you meant by "any healer", since you made it seem as though half the classes in the game cast heals.

If you need AC you are already dead??

I don't think so. Not in a normal grouping situation. Many times, my Druid has had to ghetto crowd control and gotten off that root just in time...surviving to back off and heal myself. All characters need AC. The 6 wisdom on these leggings make them best for priest classes. Hybrids are better off with higher AC if they can get it. My Druid or my Cleric would wear these leggings.

okay i'm a lvl 52 druid, atm my favourite camp is cynders near fear gate i can get a blue every hour off her. do i care what my ac is? LOL. A bit more magic resistance would be nice i suppose, certainly disease and poison resistances wouldn't go amiss but AC ? why ? If i get hit its because i got complacent. Root snare, dot 1 dot 2 ded. i suppose i could go kite wurms in skyshrine for spells, then things would be really differen......oh no they wouln't. If i get hit i run away, its what we do. if its as fast as you take the hits while casting snare, if its faster than you and you can't snare it then why fight it ?

Druids (at least sensible ones) don't need ac because nothing should ever be hitting us. If it is then its our own fault for making a mistake, taking a beating will help you remember that mistake. I looked at thes boots and went ooooh nicewis and nice resist, i could wear these instead of gebs or krommies depending on what resists i need.

Ahhh you say but what about the grouping druid??? dd's suck, if i got aggro from nuking then frankly my tanks ain't doing there job or I nuked early, again i deserve the beating. Aggro from snare well i snare, it fails i wait for a bit then try again. Sure if i chain snare then the mob will get just a teeney bit annoyed and wipe the floor with me. Last i saw Druids weren't the only one with Snares, sure i am designated snarer, but is very easy to say 2 resists pls snare i will try again in abit i don't want aggro.

Overall my point is this, when grouped Druids only get aggro when the want it. A clever druid will not get aggro ever i'm sorry but every other class out DD's us :). Sure i'm only lvl 52 maybe its differenthigher up but so is the armour available :). As it is if i get on a raid i may get these legs, I'd expect to be able to roll on them, they're good druid legs, but hell if a tank tells me he would use them then let him roll too.

Who care what class they are best for, if a person would honestly use them let them roll next time you see them inspect them, have they still got it on.

Anyway enough of me mad ramblings, i jus got fed up with reading the whole druids and AC thing for the 38759823789374983478324798th time (hey i exaggerate so sue me :).

I know its tough grouping as a druid, sometimes you kinda feel a bit pointless, every1 else is so much better at something than you so your tempted to gain aggro jus so you prove your not doing nothing. Jus look on the bright side, Warriors have rotten DD's, Wizards are useless healers and have you seen a clerics DoTs ? (my apologies to those excellent high level Warriors who have got a kewl DD or the Wizard whos a grand master at bind wounds, oh and yes i know innoruuk clerics can snare/dot).

Point is not about kewl loot its about having fun. Someone is about to disagree with this post (Monks suck), well now they are anyway :p. But i jus had great fun sitting here writing it so hey disagree all you want i'm sitting here smiling.

and one more thing. MONKS DONT SUCK. in a duel against warriors or rogues we own its only against mobs for some reason that warriors out dmg us and the only reason rogues out dmg us in a fight is because of Backstab and toward lvl 60 monks have more AC than warriors just because we need more actually plus we get bigger agi ac bonus so STFU because you have never played a monk and if you did you wouldnt have said that and why in the hell are you saying druids dont need AC everyone needs ac its common sense your not always going to be aggro free ****** and usually with bad ac you WILL get hit very HARD so even druids need a pretty high ac at 60 it should be well over 1k maybe even 1.5k but thats another story. just STFU you dont know what your talking about you need to analyze a whole lot more b4 you post cause if you dont you will have as many responses against your theories as you do well here please if you have any common sense at all what so ever rate this guy's post AWFUL because it is

Two points you are forgetting Skallagrim,

1. After you hit 55 you will quickly learn that you need AC, as you will no longer be able to solo much of any mob (ok there are a few, but not enough exp on those to provide a worthy camp) you will be forced into a grouping druid. After you have become a grouping druid, you will learn the quick value of being the "team player", I have at many times received aggro by providing secondary heals on Clerics, I have also at times drawn aggro from ENC's who are getting beat on. Once you have become a grouping Druid, you will need AC, after all, wouldnt you like to be able to take 1 more hit or so before you get an evac or that very last heal that keeps the cleric alive long enough for a CH on the main tank?

2. If you are a solo druid, and you say you dont need AC, I would be curious if you religiously use the Self Only Thornshield series of spells. Guess what that does....(aside from a small damage DS) the only function of that is for AC. The reason, if you are root kiting, and a root break while you LoM or not enough mana to finish at the moment, you are taking a beating, or even better, remember back to quad kiting? Remember when you took the circle just a little to narrow? BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, I can remember kiting Wyverns and turning the corner just a little too steeply and ending up with 30% health from Full Health. AC helps against that, may be a little, but a little might just save your life.

Dont knock AC, besides.............these leggings arent just DRUID ONLY!

Happy Hunting!

These are a great part of a druid AC buildup, you DO get hit sometimes. The more the merrier and this is an all around nice item, no reason to complain about it having ac since that is ludicrous.

Your assumption that if a druid is getting hit in a group, he's not doing his job properly is false. In a perfect world where every group has a mezzer or every pull contains just one mob, then maybe it wouldn't matter about AC. However, Norrath is far from perfect, and especially in the 50+ dungeons you are going to be dealing with multiple adds. You may very well be called upon to root out these adds, which will likely involve you gaining some aggro, and being able to take some hits without the cleric redirecting his attention from the tank to you is very useful.
Even with a chanter, until all adds are mezzed you are going to be gaining heal aggro as you help out the cleric keeping the chanter and tanks alive.

You are all morons, sorry I dont normaly do that, But why would you say ac isnt important, you make me sick.
1. Explain why clerics are a plate class.
2. You know you have had a mob on you before, it probably beat on you the first few seconds it was on you untill you realized you needed to run away. Id like some AC if that happened.
3. And if your healing, and the mob attacks you, I say its your own fault for not letting the melee's get the taunt first. If it attacks you, would you rather have it beat the crap out of you or would you like to be spared since you have some armor on?

Go ahead and go thru some fights without your gear on & make sure you get hit several times, then come back and tell me how "AC isnt important"
The real deal with druids, AC, and HP
# Jan 22 2002 at 4:00 PM Rating: Default
At 49 (and it doesn't get much different from here, I've been to hate, fear, growth, vox, and naggy) if it comes down to my ac and hp then I am already dead. Before the recent lift of the soft cap on wis/int, I had a 200 wis with an ulthork tunic. My friends laughed at me, they made fun of me, they had many a guffaw at my expense, but AC is not important to a druid. Let's say you are faction farming level 5 or lower mobs... Click your ES arms or velious/hate bracer. Instant faction. Let's say a mob aggs on you... Well darn, I guess I'll just have to run as fast as I can (and only bards run faster) to the zone. I used to think that "Yeah, AC is cool, gimme a good weapon" but then I hit 45 and my ES arms gave me all the faction hits I wanted, I started PLing friends and got faction, I could outrun any mob that I ever had to face down (or just gate if I couldn't). Yeah, it's fun to say "I'm a dr00d with over 1k ac" but it's not important. The big issue with druids is how many spells can we cast (healing or otherwise), how high are our resists, and how many HP do we have (naggy's aoe breath reeks havoc with me, vox isn't as bad, but my cold resist is higher).

Now on to the item.

Yep, I'd wear it on any of my priests and my ranger. Unless a person who wants these already has better then let anyone who can wear them roll, I personally would rather a cleric had them than my druid if it came right down to it. Monkie item? would be but verant made them non monk wearable. Let's face it, monks have to have SOME kind of weakness, and getting ganked on equipment other than weapons seems to fit the bill. Now, the most important line of text on this page...

What drops them please? So I know what to make my monk pull. 8 )

Haha this is pathetic. Fusionblock appearantly never even grouped before. First off, you're lvl 49, you aint seen a damn thing yet. From a 60's point of view 49 is lowbie, and naggy, vox ect are small raids, nothing big at all, try doing high lvl encounters.

Sure against a dragon/god/whatever AC wont do much as druid, but dont tell me HP's wont. My druid is retired, but I can still speak from experience. AC matters a lot when getting hit, you'll live a lot longer in groups if u have some AC. HP's matter even more on big raids because usually mobs will AoE. Dont tell me HP gear doesnt matter because my monk goes from 1300'ish HP to 2250 HP's from gear because I am a HP/AC freak, now tell me almost 1k extra HP's dont matter? Ok you can argue I'm a melee, but tell me if your druid had gear to gain, say 500 HP's, that wouldnt matter?

Sorry but at 49 you know nothing about the 50+ game coz you aint seen anything yet, so dont go speaking of experience here that AC and HP's dont matter while they DO matter for every class, even the pure casters (enc, nec, wiz, mag)

AC = non consideration for a druid.

Why? There's not enough of it for us.

We are a leather class. If I'm getting hit, it's because either A. I've done something stupid, or B. Someone else has done something really stupid and the raid/group is getting wiped out.

I'm a good grouping druid, and in a group, my AC is even LESS of an importance. Mana regen is my primary concern now, though the few flowing thought items that are attainable by me help quite a bit.

Let's face facts though, there isn't any good AC gear out there for druids, other than the starfire BP and Rowyl's Arms, which are now CLR and SHM useable, so there goes that thought.

Let me tell you a few things about the druid class, which you appear to have missed in your 52 levels of play.

First: there will be times when you are neither in a group nor even soloing for exp. If you are aggroed as you go about your mundane affairs by a green mob, it is a rank waste of mana to eliminate it with sorcery. Under such circumstances, it is vastly preferable to kill it in melee -- but that option will not be available to you if your AC is so horrible that you can't even tank a high green mob while you dispatch it with your weapon.

The same principle applies when you're farming hordes of high green mobs for faction/items/etc. It is far more mana efficient to melee them in succession than to kill them with dots or nukes.

Also, Druids post-50 are very different than druids pre-50. Considering that you've just breached the 50 mark, it is to be expected you might not be familiar with some of the aspects of the class at those higher echelons. For one thing, you can out-nuke any other class save Wizards, once you get to level 54. Your level 59 nuke is identical to the new level 60 mage nuke that was put in with Luclin, but in an outdoor zone you have the benefit of Breath of Karana (level 56)-- which does up to 812 damage in 3.0 seconds with a short stun -- and therefore you can still do more damage than a mage's nukes alone per unit time.

Melee a green post 50? Are you nuts? A green post 50 could be level 35, and you wouldn't have a prayer of killing it melee. You don't want to kill it, you root it and forget (or hell just keep running, whats the point of stopping?).
RE: *Sigh* Druids and AC again
# Feb 15 2002 at 2:23 PM Rating: Excellent
Erm, hello? I have 230 wis (about 3200 mana total without chanter buffs) and 920 ac unbuffed, around 1040 ac when buffed... 'bout 2800hp with PotG and a Symbol. I can tank a level 50 mob if needed. I can tank a level 55+ mob if it's slowed. We were pharming Elysian in Umbral last week, and I tanked a Dark Assassin for the full fight while our warrior was being rezzed... of course I need a few more heals than the 60 warrior, but I can still tank it. Buffed, I can easily kill a SG/HG (since you are talking about a 35 mob) with melee only.

In fact, my role is most commonly to deal with high level adds (unmezzable 55+ mobs), agro them, park them away, etc. In that role, you take hits believe me, when the thing you are trying to park quads/flurries 170's you'd better have decent ac, or you die.

Amusing note: the highest druid unbuffed ac I've seen so far is 1175... and I'm still drooling at her stuff :)

seriously. there are times you will get aggro no buts or whats about it. and to be able to live through that can be invaluable. dying is a complete waste of mana and time for nearly everybody invovled.

just because druids don't need ac as much as other classes doesn't mean it's not useful to them. would a perfect suit of armor to you be zero ac and 250 wis?!?

however i am completely sick and tired of each and every item saying this is a great <insert_class_here> item. maybe it's just me but seriously let others think for themselves.

(this post has nothing to do with the leggings or what class best suits them blah blah, just a response to skallagrimm)

What all these druids seem to forget is that the second biggest taunts is a debuff, the first biggests taunt is a resisted debuff. Guess what the shamans main job is? Yes, Debuffing.

I'm sure a lot of chanters would back me up on this. AC is required for shaman and chanters

AC & Druids
# Jun 19 2001 at 1:18 PM Rating: Good
As with ANY class AC can make the difference between life or death. Any class that solo's will want AC for those times that they actually do get hit. This reduces the amount of damage you take, given the overall scheme of things a few hit points or a miss altogether may save your life.

No one seems to concern themselves with a Shaman having over 900 AC. Yet they are group bound and not tanks either. The benefit of AC is life no matter what class you play. As a druid I see all to often our class disregarded for AC. Shaman's blow us out of the water with AC and yet they hide behind tanks and other classes also. AC for a druid means life when there are no tanks out there taking our damage.

"Any class that solo's will want AC for those times that they actually do get hit."

Here we go again..

Melee types, EVEN hybrids, always defer to the caster on mana items. We even defer on mana items with high AC and only roll after all casters are outfitted. I don't mind a druid or any other caster getting something like this as long as all of the tanks in the group are set with equal or better AC legs.

In your own words, "...and yet they hide behind tanks and other classes also".

Underscore the also.

Let me guess, you're one of the people saying beastlords should put their stats in str and sta, since "wis is easy to get to 200".

I'm level 51 and I'm wearing Ivy Etched legs. 12ac 5agi 5svFire. What could I have gotten that's better than this so far? Velious quest? This is easier to get than that. Planes? Haven't been there yet. The low 50s is where you should finish upgrading stuff like Ivy, not already be done upgrading it.

These are good for druids, but they are excellent for Rangers, Shamans or Beastlords. Plate classes probably have better options (don't know plate armor too well). Rogues might want to hold off because they do have excellent wisdom, which they don't need.

Why? You do of course realize that these legs have the same ac as the umbral leggings (sk planar gear) from fear right? I find that statements like these most often come from persons buying together the equipment they need and not going out there and getting it. As a 51 shadowknight with giant scalemail leggings (yes I had to go to Kael and loot them of the still warm corpse of the giant we killed) I find it offensive to have to carry on a discussion with someone if this is an item for my class. Luckily, nbg means just that and I really can't see anyone denying a tank these in favour of say a druid. Hehe, druids who always complain about the acof their gear always find it amazing that I have lower ac then the Kromrif military leggins on mine. All that aside I agree that these are great legs for any druid at least, just make sure that your tanks are equipped before calling this =)

I can confirm this dropping from Bjorak, as our raid group just had it drop from him today. Sadly, I was an invite and could not join in on the loot =/ G'luck to all trying to get these nice pants.

Unless, of course, you let somebody else loot them off a kill, a-la Painbringer, Shin armor, etc. I know if I thought I had a shot at getting something like this I'd take my chances in Velious.

This comes off a mob deep in the nasty part of kael drakkel. Vlad the Cold, or something like that. Your chances of getting this thing for the same reason you're allowed to loot the shin lord are about the same as your chances of someone letting you loot Trakanon because they don't need that rogue BP.
