Boots
# Mar 07 2002 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
Boots aren't bad considering the level you can get them at. Think about it, Ranger level 30 can get these easy. Monk can at 30 if he's lucky enough to get ID to work :-/ still a lil heavy when it comes down to monk gear at that level.
RE: Boots
# Mar 21 2002 at 12:25 AM Rating: Default
Don't bother with these. At level 25 you can go to the warrens and kill the packmaster (much easier kill than cougars) for the Filth covered boots. The filth covereds have neg CHA, but just take them off at the vendors and you will be fine.

True, but your banded aren't magical, so you can't kick magic only. I've got the Watchman Boots from the NK quest, but they are AC 5, Sta 5. One less AC and one less Sta for four more Str isn't a bad trade for me, so I'd probably do this quest, and then sell the Watchman boots.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 02 2003 at 2:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) all kicks are magical. regardless of footwear.

# Jul 01 2004 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
No, they are not. You do need the boots with the MAGIC tag or else you get the invulnerability. Have had this happen when hunting wisps w/ my ranger, darlin'.

Just wondering... do these things have the Ulthork Armor look or the regular leather look?

Thanks

No but the quest discussion does have the information and has for some time. BTW cutting shells are random underwater ground spawns in CS (Cobalt Scar just in case). As for what this space is used for its for discuss the item period, not just how it is obtained but the itme as a whole.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 17 2001 at 12:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Unbelivable! This is suppose to be a place to gather imformation, RE: the cougar snow boots. Why utilize wasted space to put in meaningless, 2cp worth of useless imfo. Go to a chat room and leave these spots for useful imformation. How are these boots made? Thk You.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 01 2001 at 1:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha people still useing leather and such, no i am not picking on anyone..if not for the dreadscale quest i would still have banded at 40 +) ya i am lazy too ) though it sad that my bard has almost as good of armor and better armor in some spots than my main all beacause a higher lvl bard gave it to me..true i didnt work for that but someone gave it to me as a present for being a bard and i sport it as best i can and hold up the bardic honer...my sk just smashes stuff and worked for everything hes got..gluck people if u happy with what u have..more the better if u want better work and go get it or hang around and beg..but beggers get nothing from me if they annoy me by spamming or such..catch me on a good day maybe i see what i can do..anyway back to chillin..luck to all yall!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 24 2001 at 12:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You are hands down one of the most stupid people I have seen post on these boards. That lumps you in with the guy who posted FART for a page of our veiwing enjoyment, if you aren't him. These boots while by no means the best in the game anre not comparable to leather, at the very least they are magic, enabling melee types to kick things that are only damaged by magic. As for the rest of your babbling may I suggest a little thorazine, it always seems to help the other crazy people.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 07 2001 at 2:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you're low level in CS, you'd better be invis. Either that, or by some miracle, you'd better have at least dubious faction there. Cobalt drakes cast an AE that will not only dispell your SoW, but it will do 500 dmg to your tender newbie *****

not sure what dictionary you use, but if they aren't wearing anything, I say they are naked.
Level?
# Feb 18 2001 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
What level should i be before i attempt to get these? i already have 2 MQ cougar skins, but i dont know how ot get to Cobalt Scar, and i dont know if i should be a higher level to try and run across it and under the water.
RE: Level?
# Jun 04 2001 at 12:23 AM Rating: Default
if you faction smack enough dieing giants, and can roam cobalt scar invis, you could do it at 1st, but they arent any good at first level either, so why spend hours and hours trying to find groundspawns? If you are a monk, get wu's or wolf fur, other classes have dozens of choices, that are better, and easier to get.

I'd like to take a second to answer the underlying hidden jabs at people that buy/sell to get their stuff. I'm at lvl 30, i have some stuff on me that I probably couldn't get myself but have sacrificed a lot of time and sometimes even a lot of items that i have fought for myself to get those pieces. The question is whether or not fighting hard for the resources to obtain items beyond your level is wrong or "cheating". I don't believe it is.

TWINKING is a whole 'nother thread...we won't go there. But I've fought me **** off to get the stuff i gots and it creases me to hear people scoff when i tell them I wield a Yak at 30. To me, i've earned it. Just as you've earned your gear.

Oh yah, just FYI: It's spelled RIDICULOUS!

Hehe, just to give creedance to all of this. I have a lvl 10 sk who's a master blacksmith, wears a full suit of cultural and is constantly weilding the best weapon I can find (within reasonable price of course, smithing doesn't give infinite pp in an instant, but over time). Point being I get real ticked off when peops accuse me of "twinking" and such. I believe I worked my **** of more than anybody I buy these items from because DAMN that was a long time I spent killing bats skellies and furry animals to get my smithing money.
RE: How Ridiculous! ;D
# May 01 2001 at 10:36 AM Rating: Default
I agree if you are able to obtain great items at lower levels on your own its not "twinking, cheating, etc." its working your tail off and waiting to find good deals and bartering...my level 10 monk (14 before I stopped playing him) was able to pruchase a fighting baton, essence of dol, SoV drop earings, a suit of cured silk, foreman's tunic all by level 10 (highest char on that server, also my highest ever was a 16).

Anyway all I am saying some people just have skills when it comes to obtaining goals, and some people aren't whining beggars and are truly nice people no I didn't make a Alt. female char to go and beg for items I was just me also just awhile ago I went and logged back on my char and gave my stuff away (all my monk stuff and alot of other items I picked up) to three nice people who could use it...Its just like playing the stock market the economy has its ups and down in EQ......

40 dru,

Still got NO boots, and a patchwork cloak I made for myself at lvl 3 *grins and looks proud at his infinite skill*
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 15 2001 at 9:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was in the same boat as everyone here, at lvl 25 i still had my patchwork, heard kobold hide boots were probably the best thing to try and get without eating all my spell money - hung around Nek and Lavastorm auctioning and picked up a pair for 90pp. besides being ac5 they weren't really useful as Druids can't kick - then heard about the acolytes anklet, quest starts in RV (cleric guild) and you finish with an anklet thats ac3 and +3 wis! all by having to travel a bit (did i mention i'm a druid?) gained some wis, lost some ac, at this level i'd say its a fair tradeoff, but thats a different arguement - plus now i've got another 90pp for spells (yeah 90pp is nothin, but its my first char so it's alls i got)

Maybe I should of twinked my char...or better yet maybe I should of got out my credit card and spent money for items on ebay.

I think the question is how rediculous is it to ruin the game that way?

Tis what I was gonna say. I use some +3INT/WIS boots from crystal caverns when in a full group, but usually go without since I haven't found any resist boots I want to go out of my way to get. A viable option would be some NODROP boots to give some stat bonuses.

Yes, it is a pain to carry around 2 sets of armor, but it is very necessary on Rallos to have travelling/solo gear, and grouping gear. Usually you compromise somewhere in the middle according to the risk you perceive in the area you are in.

# Jul 29 2001 at 12:49 PM Rating: Good
I have done this with the dire wolf fur cloak and I am pretty sure it would work for this too, you get a newbie (guildie in my case) drag his quivering don't wanna die but into iceclad and give the newbie the cougar skins (or MQ dire wolf fur in the case I used). YOU pass the no drop shells to Erghiez or what ever his name is then the newbie passes the the pelts viola the newbie gets the boots. Easy hell no... but if you want to give a newbie a tail to talk about for a few levels <smile> this will to it.
