about the only use i could see would be if after you got done soloing a HG or the like and you got hit a few times you could then beat up the little lizards walking all over in rath mtns to heal yourself bk up
worthless

For the most part you could get most of these stats off of a stein of
moggok for a hundred plat and still carry something in your other
hand.

Ok. I'm Sibus Zik'Arick, lvl 41necro (look me up in guild magic if you dont believe) and when im doin' hg's and they try to run but cant cause of dark, i do melee it with my Dagger of Marnek (i know crappy dont have to tell me 'it wont make a difference blah blah blah') I do it just because i can. It puts a little extra dmg and its fun to see a little gnome with a dagger stabbing the ankles of a huge HG

nice thought, but at lvl 35 55 mana equals about 7-8 int. making it a bout a 17 int bonus item which is not bad, even if it takes both hands. and some people, actually even try to hit a mob occasionaly

Hmm, Stein of Moggok + GBS = 19 INT. And other stats... Why would a caster even melee?

Hey look you are all idiots, the Staff is pimp i am a 50+ necro 225 int if i was to carry that cup and anything else in my hand. I carry staf i go down some but get more mana. i get saves as well. So all you stop complaining about thigs you don't know and shut up please your bother me.
RE: worthless
# Mar 03 2001 at 7:08 PM Rating: Default
did no one notice resists? Also once you get this your int should be mexed where the mana comes in. Also Dex reduces fizzles and Cha helps mez. Plz figure out what you are talking about before you post.
RE: worthless
# Mar 04 2001 at 3:01 AM Rating: Default
dex does not reduce fizzles (per verant) and cha helps more than mez.. (malo, charm, etc) and to the "55" caster.. no.. casters don't try to actually hit the mob once in a while. not unless you're an idiot, or a newb saying he/she's level 55.

I am a lvl 55 wiz. And no, I am no newb, I have been a wiz since p3 beta (dec - 98). The reason my lvl is only 55 is that I took a long EQ break when Kunark came out and got back a while ago..

Anyway. "casters don't try t actually hit the mob once in a while, not unless you're an idiot, or a newb saying he/she's lvl 55."

Thats bull. If I am in a good group, with c2/Cantana of Replenishment I am pretty much 80-100% mana most of the time and I like goin in to melee when the mob is low on health to see if I can get my 2h blunt up with this staff so I can go fix some of the faction misses I did prekunark. It's FUN too. Dont try to tell me what lvl 55's do and don't do, you don't know other than what you yourself do, and because I do things otherwise it dont make me no idiot. Idiotic is to think you know what other people do and why..
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 4:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes at 55 you still try to hit a mob once in a while, not as if its going to help but tell me you havent done it and your lying. Medding and just spells gets boring once in a while so you go run up and take a whack. F-U-C-K you just cause you dont ever try to hit it doesnt mean someone who does is a newbie, @$$hole

Ok, for the umpteenth time, Yes. Casters mele. Not much, not often, not in serious battles, but it DOES come in handy. Particularly if you've taken a few mins to raise the skill up. Int casters do get a few decent weapons, particularly at higher levels. We also get a few haste items. Now like everything else in EQ you have to know WHEN to do it. Cleric gets aggro, DS yerself, overnuke to get the aggro, and mele it out till someone gets the aggro off you. Again, gotta know when and at what level range to do it, but it does come in handy. That's saying nothing of greeny whupping when you can't get a spell off.
Can save entire groups just by knowing WHEN to take the aggro and how long to hold it. In those situations, yer gonna mele whether you like it or not.

Just my 2cp.

Faelawen Starfyre, The Mad Mage of Povar

PS: If ya ARE gonna mele tho, this prolly isn't the weapon to do it with. Skill aside, the delay seems too high to get it to proc often enough to be used for anything other than greanie beating to regain life. 'course... I AM crazy... *shrug*

By the looks of the spell data, the lifetap seems to do about 1 point of damage per level(a level 5 will proc for 5, a level 50, for 50.. and so on) the stats sure aren't too bad though =)
Proc
# Dec 17 2000 at 3:17 AM Rating: Decent
It's the crappy little 30ish pt Lifetap that Specs in Oasis/Feerrott/etc. hit you with. Resisted it once ages ago and that was the "spell" I resisted according to my chat window.

What does SpectreLifetap effect do?
RE: SpectreLifetap
# Dec 18 2000 at 8:46 AM Rating: Default
Well, SpectreLifetap does (level+1) direct damage...
not too good, but the stats should be worth the staff :)
RE: SpectreLifetap
# Dec 18 2000 at 5:22 PM Rating: Default
No respectable caster will melee enough to make this proc anyway, so the effect is pretty much useless. Still, it is a great stat increasing staff!

I am a mage and am usually grouped with a wizard. The wizard pulls with Bonds of Force and while my pet Melee's we both Nuke it till near death. Often every day there are occasions where the pet is dead and we are both LOM with the mob trying to run. Since it's still snared it is just standing there unmoving and doesn't hit us. Maybe one or both of us has been hit a few times. At that point this is a nice weapon for me to finish the running mob and regain some health. Also as a Mage I am often holding a 2HB mastery staff so it would be easier to switch between 2 handers for the stat increase and effect. I would use it. And I'm 56th level.

Me I'm a chanter and often fear kite along with a ranger and my pet - I need aggro to get my pet on the case so yes I melee
