Need to update the 'Common' to 'Rare' for both ground spawn and foraged. Still a PITA if you are making Leatherfoot bags.
Helpful Techniques

*Turning off 'radial flora' (options ---.> display tab ---> advanced button ---> Radial Flora radio button)
* Toggling off your UI (options ---> keys tab ---> UI drop down list ---> 'Toggle UI Display)

These two tips helped me see the acorns alot easier while I was running around, even though they are green on a green background. Hope this helps Smiley: tongue!
Used for ToV Baking Now

I don’t know if the forage or ground spawn rate was changed after the acorns became part of the ToV baking recipe, but I just spent over 3 hours foraging with a 217 skill Druid and got 10. A ranger with 250 skill got 2 in about an hour and a half. I was crisscrossing the zone with the Druid and saw no ground spawns anywhere.

Edit: finding some ground spawns now, but they are very hard to find.

A buyer on Bertox is offering 600 pp each, and two traders are selling at over 1000 pp each, so its safe to say they became rarer after ToV launched.

While I was blowing time foraging for the Misty Acorn decided to try out the ground spawn locations.

According to my /loc the zone wall is at +35,-1350 and can't go any further east, so the /loc +35,-1520 not possble

have been in zone probly 6 or 7 hours, so far I have gotten 75 Misty Acorns, my druid has a forage skill of 265, with all the AA's done

Searching for groundspawn...
# Mar 12 2017 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
I was toying around in Misty Thicket looking for the ground spawn version of the Misty Acorn. I was tinkering with video settings to see if I could find a way to highlight the ground spawns in amongst all the plants. I got bored enough to go into the advanced video settings, and on the right was a list. In that list was a switch for Radial Flora. Switching this off will remove all the weeds making ground spawns easy to find.

I have searched this zone over and over, annotating on my map the loctions of the found groud spawns of accorns. What I have found out folks is bad bad news to the non foraging. I have not found one accorn respawn at the same location ever. I have about 40 marked locations and have yet to find a repeated location. Long story short...best way to find these is by foraging, if you run arround and find one, just count yourself lucky.

Since the zone has been revamped, there is no ground spawn at that loc. You can't reach it! The closest that you can get is about -1300 or so. The spawn is totally random, just have to run around and look. There seems to be more spawns to the south and east of the entrance to Runny Eye. I found more there than anywhere. Never really found a constant individual spawn site. The acorn is a bright green square on the ground. I did find a darker one once. Eyesight or light source didn't seem to make any difference, I used my druid wood elf to look most of the time. I had the chat boxes etc down most of the time and this seemed to help me see them easier. I used walk mostly, but then I'm a pretty fast druid anyway. They're small so they're difficult to spot. Time of day and low spots didn't make any difference, like I said TOTALLY RANDOM! The bags that are found on the ground are berry ground spawns, I did find an acorn ONCE in that vicinity, but no repeat as yet, and I've looked a long, long time.

Hunting Help,,,

Hunting Misty Acorn ground spawns in Misty Thicket,

(1) Have SoW, helps you get around faster, not SoE, bouncing wont help,,,
(2) I DO NOT use a light source, I even take of any equipment that makes light, but I suspose it depends on your racial eyesight. Try Both, with light and without, you may even play around with your Options/Display/Gamma setting and or Options/display/particle settings to tweek your vision.
(3) Be small. Get a shrink from a shammie, being closer to the ground helps, you'll see what I mean.
(4) Hit the F-10 key and hide your U.I. , and watch the edge of the screen, weave back and forth while you run, helps you scan for the "flickers".
(5) No one spawn point, totally random, but the two main areas are around the north hollow just east of the undead area, (thats where the bags of berries spawn) and the area just south of the druid ring, at the foot of the hill. Both of those places seem to have two spawns up at a time, with about a six-minute respawn time.

What you are looking for is a diamond-shaped, green iridescent, flat object that looks like a magic leaf. From a distance, it's a tiny bright line that flickers as your move toward it. Tough to spot.

Got hooked on finding them after a Druid friend (it's good to have druid friends) wanted to try some cultural armor. Turns out I've got the right eye, or the right monitor. ; )

these can be foraged...for a non forager though the easiest way to find the ground spawns is to use a fire beetle eye for a light source..The misty acorns which look like leaves laying on the ground will shine with a light green color under the light of a fire beetle eye,,they spawn just about anywhere

Misty Thicket ground spawns of Misty Acorns are like Innothule Swamp's ground spawns of the mushrooms and veggies, Innothule has it's share of things to pick up but they are all over the place, never re-popping in quite the same place. The Acorns are much the same, you have to keep an eye out for them. And forage while you are at it.

For some reason I sometimes I cannont forage single one and then I am able to find many on the ground as well as foraging. The only reason I can think of (and I got to check this) is cause it's raining. So early morning, with rain would be the best time I think to find these but to get that combination you got to be lucky. Kinda like morning dew that is foraged only in the morning in Gfay. Forage maxed of course.

I have both foraged and found ground spawns and if anyone tells you differently they are dead wrong!!! Anyways i have found about 5 of these corns and havent found a decent way to get a bunch other than to look all aroun on the ground... some say ontop of hills and others say at the bottom.. Well i have found them all over even with an npc standing on them so i think it is just random.. i have also marked a few ground spawns but i have never seen another acorn on the same spot lol. I do however find the majority of them at night at about 12am so i generally hunt there at night and i get about 1 a night.. i used to have a bunch but the dumb head i am i sold them in bazaar :-( so now im suffering!!! anyways gl to all of you.

Average Prices?
# Jun 01 2004 at 1:38 PM Rating: Decent
WOW, was just reading up on these cause my halfling tailor would like to make some leatherfoot bags and see some people saying they sell for 1pp and 5pp an acorn. I know that those posts are pretty old but can the price change that much without there being much change in the "Find" rate of these things?!?!?! I can tell you that on Xev server I have never seen these things sell for less then 45pp a piece. The price seems to go up alot if they actually make them into the Acorn Oil. I usually see the oil selling for closer to 100pp a piece.

Halfling shouted out that he was buying Misty acorns. The easiest way, other then forage, was his way.

If you get a firebeetle eye, an use it as your light source at night. Now a days It can be a pain seeing which itmes you have that give off white light, find them, and pack em up!

It may have just been coincidence but nearly every night yielded many accorns. I'm sure they appear in the day...but nearly all I found were middle of the night and a ton right before night ended.

We tried to write down the spawn points that became nearly impossible. We had well over 60... A TON all over, but a pretty hot spot in that recess by runnyeye and by bat hill. Oddly not many by druid ring. Oh and just on the noobie side of the wall, that little dip too there. The accorns dont sem to spawn where mobs are, but DEFINATELY DO look in low places, it DID seem that they only spawned in lower areas. Perhapse a specific map [high and low] setting could be found to only check certain areas....... might try this. Thats just MY experience with it.

What made us think there MIGHT be a pattern is 3 berry grove. If you exit town and hand a right. also in a dip, 3 berries spawn. As a totally 100% untwinked halfling, these and jumjum stalk loots can sustan you and make you some cash at level 1.

There also seems to be a sort of theme as to their mysterious origin... rivervale, misty thicket.... mist, vail, dawn and dusk... they are easy to find at night, in the yellow glow of firebeetle eyes.

Oh, by the way, the color skew for a halflings vision, they almost 'glow'. The human monk and others didnt seem to see this. Like how a dwarven or halfling vision will highlight a mob in a reddish hue, well, in firebeetle light they were almost neon at night. hope this helps.

My druid is trying to forage the sweetened mudroot for his epic, but 2 of my first 4 attempts yielded Misty Acorns. So they are definitely foragable. Sitting just outside the cave entrance to Rivervale.

It is not a foraged item, it is a ground spawn item. You walk around and look for a different green colored diamond shape on ground and you can pick it up, its the acorn. I noticed more chance on top of hills, but that is probably coincidence. You should also check the merchs they are sometimes sold by players to the merch.

(note that this description of how it looks on ground is with pre-luclin graphics engine, it may be differnt with up to date engine, which was how long ago I looked for misty acorns =)
