OriginalHehe, running to kill mino hero today and fell onto the contraption. For a Mighty Gnomish Warrior it was too easy :) Although I do remember seeing it at lvl 8 and getting my butt handed to me. Is it worth the trip to Kerra Island?

The contraption can now regularly (2-3 / hour) be found in the first valley over from Akanon, over by the small koboldcamp in the newbie zone (near the dragon skeleton).
It walks by the mountain edge, turns around at the ridge overlooking watchmen Dreeb in the Ak valley, and comes back. Deep blue to a 24 Magician which can take it out quite easily when the pet is up (got stung once for about 50 damage a pop if i remember correctly).
Dont know about placeholders, but i generally kill anything that passes the koboldcamp (especially the young plague rat trains that walk there, gottta love those tails) and spent my time killing kobolds in the mean time.

Had spent the better part of the evening trying to convince the hero to spawn to no avail. Amused myself by killing anything and everything that happened by, also with hopes for finding some swirling mist off the Steam Elementals for a Druid friend of mine.
Next thing I know, Nilt's contraption is in front of the Mino cave. I had never even heard of this thing, and have spent a lot of time with Alt's hunting in this area. I gave a shout, but no one was forthcoming with any information, so I sent my pet after it (39th level shammy's wolf). Though conning green, this thing hit harder and seemed to have more hit points than anything else in the area including the missionary, though not as hard as the hero has on previous encounters. Would be quite difficult in my opinion for a level 20 or below to solo this guy.
Not more than 10 minutes after the first pop, he popped a second time in front of the Mino Cave. I killed him the second time in hopes of finding other loot, but again the toy was all that dropped. Being a lore item, I was unable to loot the second one so sent out a shout to the zone. In reading these posts I hope I didn't mess up someone elses plans in taking out the thing.
If so, I do humbly beg your forgiveness...

Okay, I only spent a few hours in steamfont, but I'm a ranger with track, and in killing the kobold missionary 2 or 3 times I didn't see it. Obviously, it could just take more time, but I'm curious whether anyone has gotten this since, say, Luclin release.

Yesterday i was wandering around the minos cave Raising Faction With my lord so im allie to my kind, and killing junk and saw a clockwork corpse so i thought hey easy loot cause no one was around it for a long time so i popped over and looted it and i got a No drop Gnome Tinkered Toy and remembered a quest on this site for it and i got Sooo happy to find out i can get this toy for free WHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

I spent many hours around the Mino caves with track up never seeing Nilit's Contraption. This morning I went over, hailed Nilit, asked "What creation" and Nilit's Contraption immediately appeared on track between the caves and the windmill. I ran over, nuked the contraption, looted the Gnomish toy (no drop) and went back to Nilit. My pardner and I tried to trigger the spawn again to no avail so there must be a recycle time greater than the ten more minutes we hung out there.

I have hunted in the zone a great deal getting Micros for Trueshot. I kill everything in the zone, except the stupid Kobold Missionary, who is still taking me out at level 24, and from time to time, very randomly and NOT very often, I have seen this contraption. I killed it today and got the toy. It was a bit tricky to me, took me down maybe two bubbles of life as I rooted, shot, and bowed it to death. Looking forward to the trip to Kerra now.

I asked a guildmate of mine to hail the Kerran Tesqs and to follow the conversation thread about the toy. Meanwhile, I waited near the mino mines in Steamfont. After having the neccessary conversation, I began looking for Nilit's Contraption or Nilit's Clockwork. Killed several of each type of monster in the area. After 10 minutes or so, went to Nilit himself, Hailed him, asked "What Creation?" then resumed my search.
An hour passed, to no avail. Perhaps the spawn is timed, not triggered?

If you kill enough rogue clockworks it'll appear.

Becareful about this! If all you kill are the rogue clockworks, then the area will fill with the other monsters. You'll need to clear most of the area.
And please be nice to the lower levels in the area hunting for experience! They probably don't want the toy at their level anyway. =)

Heard about it from the two baby kerrans behind the fence near the dock area. They told me they will give me thier old toy if I find a new one. Well, one day I was at Steamfront, looking for a guild that is KOS and this named giant clockwork spider, blue to me at 27 attack. I say about 24-25. It dropped a Gnome Tinkered Toy, turned it in to the kerrans and got the toy.
Not sure how often, when, and how to get the Clockwork to spawn though, was luck to meet it hehe

i saw nilit's clockwork for my first time today, after raising a gnome in this zone to lvl 12. i now have the gnomish toy, and i expect that i will pass by kerra island soon enough, and i will get the other toy!
