Just a few facts to help out: 1) Garou is candy for a lvl 51 druid. didn't even take a full bar of mana for a half elf with 162 wis. Of course i never actually let him touch me
2) +7 wis sounds nice for druids until you realize that the dark ember has 5 wis and 20 mana which is pretty much the same thing with alot better stats. DE is also alot easier to get
3) don't bother camping, just port to iceclad and check track once you run up on ToFS
4) the stupid proc almost never goes off. For example, dark ember procs about 4 times fight, i am lucky to get one from the stupid club.you would think the club would proc more because it has a lower delay than DE, but nope. maybe other people have different results, but to me this club is kind of a dissapointment since i already have DE
Summary: nice items, but considering the toughness/rarity of the garou, you might be better off heading to east wastes and camping the blacksmith/firebrand till you get an ember
actually found him swimming a bit off the shore of the furthest northern iceberg out. was out looking for a seaworth plank when he popped on my tracklist. im guessing he got mad at someone who was on the boat? *shrug*
as a level 55 ranger he actually whooped me pretty good, but then i was low on mana and didnt have any buffs up. ended up rooting him and using trueshot. and then he gated =P
had to catch him back on the mainland and bowkite him again.
such a pain and only got his war/sk piercing weapon and no skin.

He was on track when i checked Iceclad before. Forget camping, I just check every now and then. Dropped skin and nothing else. Got my Garou Bone Club yay.
Oh yea 3 min after dropping garou the griff spawned on isle one.Could be luck don't know but i won the roll on the tallons and the map. Coloeb summonmaster 45th magician Bertoxx
Kill everything on the island except the gnolls. When island has no spawn he will come. He should be malaised or some other mr debuff first then your spells hit home for full damage. A group of lvl 35 casters took him out in 45 seconds, dont think he hit any of us. Dropped the tooth. Hope this helps. Coloeb summonmaster 45th magician Bertoxx
i dont see how this weapon can suck?? i mean 7wis/int is awesome! and if your a druid, you wont be meleeing much anyway, but, the thing that gets me is, the average price for this item is 10k plat!! wow, didnt know that crappy items sold for 10k!!!! you find me another item thats more crapy than you claim this is that sells for 10k or more and then i will say that this item sux, but untill then, this item kicks ******* and im going to try to get it.
I was in IceClad last night and my Druid friend said, "What is Garou?" I said sweet, kite him around. He is 30 I was 40, I went into melee and he started double attacking me for 90s, the druid was healing me, and at 10% life he started to gate...I hit him with careless lightning, and meleed him for 180 and he still gated, superior heal, chased my down and proceeded to double DoT me and annihilate me...Overall not a good night. A 57 ranger I had been talking to moved in behind us and finished the bugger off. Anyway, make sure you have people to heal, or multiple tanks, seemed pretty magic resistant as he resisted 5 snares. So I lost out on the club, suck.

I killed Garou twice, no cap... Of course I had help with the people of my guild. Garou is a Shaman so he does heal. What really hurts is when he gates to the other side of the island, heals up and comes back for you. It took 20 minutes to finally get him down. My guild did get the level 39 druid spell off of him. The spell sells for 3kpp on MM so over all not bad. The tank in our group went down fast, so we just ran him around with snare on and blasted. BTW our group consisted of a 37th level druid, 39th level druid (me) and a 35th monk. We had a shaman but Garou and her had a disagree ment. Hope this helps! Good luck finding him now.
We killed him last night, he didn't drop the hide at all. Just a common dire wolf hide and a fang (pretty nice rogue offhander that is 9/28 and procs a very small lifetap)
I lost my midnight bone trying to hand it in with the dire wolf fur. So much for that. I'll try again next time.
Umm...the ratio IS below average. Proc and stats aren't taken into account when calculating Ratio. Ratio formula is - R=L/D where L = delay and D= damage. Thus, 25/5 = 5, which is pretty damn bad. The Wurmslayer (though completely unrelated) is 40/25= 1.6 which is a good RATIO though there is no proc and the delay is quite high without a FBSS or Hangman's Noose.
Why do people figure time per unit damage? I'd think damage per unit time would be more useful as a ratio . . . Which, incidently, would put the useful R=D/L with D meaning Damage and L meaning Delay . . . You all did know that every ten delay points is about one second, right? So, its easy to convert this thing into damage per second (Far more useful a ratio than time per unit damage, IMO; I want to know how this thing will affect the enemy, not how long it takes to do one damage point!) 25 / 10 = 2.5 and 5 / 2.5 = 2 damage per second ratio. BTW, on a dps ratio, the higher the better. Someone else posted a WS at 25 40 1hs weapon; that thing is 25 / 4.0 for a 6.25 dps . . . Or, don't divide the delay by ten (to convert it to seconds) and just use the tenth second figure. this weapon here is a .2 and the WS is a .625 where again, higher is better.
I was helping a druid friend camp him the other day, and he did spawn. He dropped a lvl 39 spell, LQ dire wolf skin and the dagger. My pet kicked its but, so I guess he was the low one:) He would be pretty tough I would guess for anyone less than 40 and then some if the higher spawn is 45. The dagger isnt all that great for damage BUT once it starts to proc I bet it would be nice(lvl30) The spell was lvl 39 I believe and thats all I know. Besides being a crappy 1hb its stats are still nice for the casters who dont like to get there paws dirty:)
What are his Place Holders.. i have been killing cougures and the shadow gaurdians for days now i even started killing all Dire wolfs out there since he drops a dire wolf pelt at times hopeing that would make him spawn but not seen him yet... any hep would be appreitated.. thanks :-)
well, just so you know, there is also a wandering spawn that spawns where he does.....spawns about every 10 minutes or so (never timed it, was helping friend do cougars), so might be killing dire wolves triggers spawn, but only if PH is dead too. He spawns in the middle of the triangle made by the 3 trees on NW corner of isle.
On an off note, I killed dire wolves for 6 hours once day near his spawn and never saw the bugger, but didn't know where his spawn site was.
Excuse me but dire wolves don't spawn on the isle with the Tower of Frozen Shadow so how can a spawn on that isle have Dire wolves which do not roam there be place holders? Some how I fail to see logic in this. It would make more sense that Midnight and Snow Cougars are ph's then dire wolves.
Excuse me but you are incorrect. I spent 10+ levels at the Balix camp with Multiple Char's. Dire Wolves are a common spawn on this Isle. On a side note: I have killed every Dire Wolf on Island for 6 RL hours and no Garou spawn.
Seeing as ya'll obviously don't know about the Garou camp, somethng I have figured out how to do and have done well over twenty times to get the bugger to spawn (an *** to spawn too, Need atleast 3 druids or chanters, rangers can work, but not as well)..I will tell you gutys right now, you better not spawn him unless your ready to take a level 45 with 5k-7k hps, who hits like a bloodthirsty ghoul (guk, PH for frenzy). Well, here is how you spawn him, it'll take longer, but it IS a safe way, oh, and have two healers as well, for the spawning team, whom only spawn it if your smart. You have your chanter/druid charm the Dire Wolf whom spawns in the area Garou spawns, the trick is to keep him ALIVE, and charming him will do that. I dunno what his set living time is, but I do know that is seems to be 100% random when doing this method. Just keep the wolf spawned, and when charm breaks, have your second charm it, then when that breaks, third charms, breaks, first charms, and so on. This will give all time to med from the charming, which can get mana costly. I have personally spawned Garou in 30 minutes, and at times it has taken me 12 hours -_-, what a waste ot time then too, I was the obnly one who lived and that was from that, and /q is a life saver WHEN your not on the bottom of the ocean running cause you hit the sit key by mistake after Feigning Death.
Proc is a 25 hp lifetap with the same motions and animation as a necro/sk lifetap. Really freaks out the necro when he sees me, as a druid, doing the "smiles at a mob and says I feel better" :P
Garou was blue to me at level 52. A wimpy ranger had him down to about 2 bubbles left when he screamed for help. I nuked garou for about 2000 dmg before he dropped. So I would guess he had about 5k to 6k hp in this version. I believe he spawns either in a level 37 form or a level 45 form. The level 45 form supposidly drops the skin needed for the quest and the 37 drops the fang which is a piercing weapon. I've only seen him once and he was blue and dropped the skin which the ranger gave to me for saving his behind from a run back from Firiona Vie where he was bound.
I took him down today, and he dropped the skin and a spell. I was 45 at the time, and he was blue to me. 'Felt' like he was low 40's, as he ran me lom and I had to keep dotting him with my ES vambraces to finally kill him. He's a shaman, so he heals some, as well as casting Scourge and some cold based DD's. I've heard reports he had a pet sometimes, but haven't seen it myself.

The Garou lives around the Tower of Frozen Shadows where it is dark, so.... It is dark, you are likely to be eaten by a Garou. Sorry, couldn't help myself. -Rook
Not sure what your question was, but if it was concerning the Garou, if you notice there is quest information on him on the preceding page. BTW I liked the Zork reference myself :)

Holy Cow! I haven't play Zork in LOTS of years! i used to play it in my apple IIgs :) whatever happened to Infocom? and, Is Garou always 37? or is there a lesser spawn?
garou seems to be 35-42 I am betting it's more like 36-41.
BTW folks this quest is broken. The garou hasn't dropped the skin on the quallious server in over 3 weeks now. I've been camping him solid for 10-18 hours each day every day for a week +1 day. These are straight camps (no breaks).
I've spoken to several guides and I've set upa petition on the messageboards: Bugs and General Discussion.
It is my belief that since the second velious patch they broke the drop when they altered the quest. The garou keeps dropping stupid direwolf pelts and not his skin.
Also the spawn is very very rare. Rarer than some dragons. It took from Monday at 10:30am to this night (friday) at 6:30 pm for the garou to spawn. But the garou also spawned the saturday before that so it's not on a timed spawn. Even after resorting to mass genocide on the island of the tower of shadows we still couldn't get it to spawn for several days.
I am still going to camp 10-18 hours each day in hopes that the garou might spawn agian and drop the skin, even though I know that he won't. (well that and I want to get to 34 before I have to go on another 3 week absence from the game).
Anyway, either somethigns messed up on accident, or the programmers made this garou WAAAAAAAAY too rare in an act of over compensation (which they seem to be doign a lot lately).
why bother...there are much easier ways to get 7wis/int from a held item, not to mention that the ratio sucks on this club and that 3 out of the 4 classes that can use it won't be doing any meleeing to use the lame effect.
If you all still insist on doing this quest. I killed him with another player the second day that I went to velious (no skin was dropped), either we got really really lucky or you need to start camping for him on another part of the island.
We tracked him down on NW of the island walking toward the shadow tower. dunno if he stays in that general area or roams around the entire island. It's also a possibility that he wandered there from the other islands.
ok i did all my hunting from level 34-39 in iceclad, only ONCE did i come upon this beast, i was in a group with a 35 ranger, 37 shammy, 35 druid, 37 monk, and a level 33 cleric, i was a 35 mage at the time, he con'd yellow to me and blue to the shammy and monk, we decided to take him on and WOW! all but the shammy died, he hits like a B*! DoTs like crazy and nuked me to death(he didn't like my level 34 LOS i nailed him with =( ) so basically even with that big of a group we BARELY killed him, but with heavy causalties(he was low enough when and snared that the shammy DoT'd him and ran, the DoT'd killed em) didn't get skin or whatever off him just a dagger, well thats my story pack up the popcorn wrapper and throw the soda pop away the shows over :0)
Well, I have a story to tell. My group was comprised of myself ( 36 shaman), a 36 Necro and a 36 druid. We killed him after some time only cause the druid pulled him when we were all low on mana, I was at half mana. He gated when he should have been owned and we tracked him and tried again. This was without medding. Well, he gated again, and we went after him again, again without medding. After he gated this time we decided to med to full and make pets, both of which had died in the first encounter. After licking our wounds, we tracked him down and the Necro and Myself got the kill (our druid had an unfortunate encounter with a gang of snow cougars while kiting Garou). We found him not to be that tough if he never hits you. We accomplished this by keeping him feared most of the time and the pets did the tanking. Keep in mind we almost killed him starting out with less than half mana in the druids case, about exactly half mana for myself and the necro was at 60%. Just wanted to point out that Fear Kiting is the way to go if you are in an area that you can somewhat safely do it. Oh....and clerics along with the wonderful heal spells they have, can also fear.
By the way........he didnt drop the Garou skin (
