Pet Weapon

Pets can equip and proc this at lvl 1.It makes for a very nice pet weapon considering "Summoned: Hand of Ixiblat" only procs a certain amount of damage that is determined by the pets lvl. The spell information on the proc of "Summoned Hand of Ixiblat" (Wrath of Fire) says that it "decreases Hitpoints by 22 (L1) to 190 (L85)". But this weapon will proc at least 142 damage even on a lvl 1 pet.

# May 03 2003 at 4:50 PM Rating: Default
On Brell this item only just got nerfed to be a required level of 51 sometime in the past few days because I'd bought it back on wed or thurs and it didn't have that tag on it. Guess now I'll have to fly through seven levels.
Ooops

Well, I bought this the other day for 1kpp and thought I should equip it right away, but no, too late I noticed it's a required lvl of 51, and not recommended... Guess I'll have to fly past these three last yellows fast now... grrr..

For some reason this one particular item has a programming error, since it carries the two color usage stats, yet, you do have to be 51 to use this item, at least on my server. Any other weapon I have used with the dual color stats I could wield with the lower stats until I reached the "recommended" level suggested. I think a lot of feedback needs to be sent in on this item or at least a bug report. Everyone should be able to at least wield this item even if they aren't level 51 because of the two color stats.

I must say it's a nice weapon for a shaman fighting lower level mobs for plat, like Hill Giants, Mino Hero, things in the mid to high 30's and low 40's in old EQ or Kunark. Velious and Luclin well thas another thing....the dmg output of green mobs on these two expansions is quite different from Kunark or Old EQ. Fricking Luclin is a joke for the amount of dmg a greenie can output. Griegs End comes to mind here.

I also have a Di`zok Shilleigh procs "togors" slow spell, I start off with this weapon and have over 200 dex...procs pretty quickly, then I switch to the club of ice ocean for the 149pt dd's that come afterwards....I love the two, three procs in a row....quite fun to play with this lil weapon as a shaman.

Once my Ranger reaches 51, I will give to him, this along with venomous axe and call of sky procs...woot, I am gonna be one killing machine....and die you say? Can't die when the mob is dead first. With Jolt spell should not have a problem with agro and there is always snare/root if I get in a jam.

Many of you only talk of characters at lvl 60 blah blah blah.....you don't take into account the many levels inbetween these levels that a ranger can melee quite well without fear of dying. I have a level 46 ranger now and have not died once...not one death....and was using lammy and centi LS for a long time till I got the venomous axe. Give me agro, I love agro, I have 900AC at 46 so I'm doing rather well....I'll have 1k AC by 50 easily. And once dodge skill and defense again start to rise in the 50's I will be even more formidable. I don't base a character on how well he/she can defeat another player, I base a character on how well they can defeat an NPC or MOB.

Thas why mobs have so many HP's and hit harder...cause otherwise they are stupid, if I was a mob I would stay on the healer until he was dead, then go after the chanter lol or vise versa, as a single mob i would know I was gonna die anyways...so I would try to take someone with me...hrmmmm chanter seems rather easier in this case hehe.

This vs. a Stave of Shielding
# Nov 05 2002 at 2:26 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, here's something highly debatable that I'm looking for some good input on. I bought one of these awhile back not thinking to look for the "Recommended Lvl" thing. Well, needles to say, this thing sat in the bank til my beastlord recently made 51. Now that I'm 51, I'm debating whether to stay with my 2 Stave's of Shielding or to just keep one SoS and use this instead. SoS's have 17 dmg and 28 dly where this has 14 dmg 27 dly but also proc a whopping 149 DD which can add up in a fight. So if you're uber and know what you're talking about, please let me know if I should stay with my 2 SoS's or go to 1 SoS and 1 Club of the Ice Ocean.
RE: This vs. a Stave of Shielding
# Jun 09 2003 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
Have one of these on my BST, dex is 207 and this thing still doesnt proc very often, and even when it does it rarely hits for its full 149 damage (often resisted completely). I'd stick with the 2 x SoS myself. Just my experience.
RE: This vs. a Stave of Shielding
# Nov 05 2002 at 3:04 PM Rating: Decent
Well dear I am neither uber nor too terribly smart, but I would consider going to the split club & SoS method if your dex is over 150. Having a moderatly high dex should cause the weapon to proc enough to overcome the differance in the damage delay ratio. Plus -- I like having the "look" of different weapons in each hand :-)
(Especially with a fine looking weapon, as you know fashion statements are important !!)

Basically hon unles the club procs 3 times per fight, you may be better suited to using the twin SoS for the better damage delay ratio.

Happy hunting from the fashion police

im a 51 ranger and i use this weapon all the time and i almost never get hit( jolt ), when in a group. proc is nice at 149dd and with dex at 186 unbuffed it goes off alot. so people saying a ranger would just get killed with this weapon, they are wrong- ive had this weapon for a few weeks now and have had no problem with thigs jumping on me because of it.
yeah you can use before 51
# Jul 02 2002 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
before 51 you can you use it, the damage will be nerfed tho(your damage will become the number in red, whereas the black number (14) will be what it will be at 51, doesn't proc til 50 anyway so just get a centi and stop *********

I equipted this item today on my 23bst, he lost 4 damage points or the total (noted by a red numder on the inspect). The recommended level thing is just another way of VI gearing EQ to EQ2, and making it flow together(you won't see EQ2 change to meet eq, you'll be seeing more changes as well to EQ to make it more like EQ2, example, the new UI has elements to it from the same art schemes as used in the eq2 presentations/web site=P)So, use a "recommended level" weapon if you wat, just don't expect to get full use from it, VI has finaly found a REAL way to slow twinking (twinking can NEVER be stopped!=P)
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 19 2002 at 6:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LoL Twinking cannot be stopped you say? Go play DAoC and see how it's kicked in the bud real quick....if you try to use high level armor, weapons or shields they will be worthless in a days usage. The higher an item is above your level the quicker it desintergrates into a useless pile of crap. And EQ2 is invoking this same feature of DAoC. You're twinking days are over fool. ;) And I'm glad hardy har har. Oh you CAN twink I'll give you that, but, your wonderfully outfitted twink in lvl 50 armor will be a piece of tin can trash heap at the end of the day. ANDDDDDDD high level gear on low level players IS going to BREAK being utterly useless in EQ2 if you try to twink with it.

Does it all of a sudden go off the weapon slot and go to a free slot? And before Luclin and the Recommend BS came out I wanted to know someone who has had this BEFORE luclin to verify the Proc lvl?

That's not really true, the proc is the mid level shaman DD, the 185 one. Think that is a level 34 spell.

And not all procs will land before a certain level. Take the yak from Lguk, it won't land if you are using it at level 5. Or the howling harpoon doesn't work until level 44 I think even though both are wieldable at level one. You'll get some message like, "you are not of sufficient level to command this weapon" when the proc goes off and doesn't do anything before the proc level.

Who knows why they changed it? I tend to think it has to do with the damage versus delay. A noob character can tear through some stuff with this thing because of the damage and reasonable delay for a young character.

Just makes it hard to sell because so many post 50 characters have better. A paladin or shadowknight post 51 would never use this, too many better 1h weapons for them. A cleric would probably be looking to use a plus mana/wis weapon. A shaman would probably be using a plus wis piercer. The proc isn't a severe taunt, so a warrior wouldn't be wanting it for a long time except as a backup melee. It might be a good weapon for a ranger or warrior on raids who doesn't want to generate a lot of aggro.

I had one and it was obsolete to me by 54. Now it's on my druid who goes around trying to sell it with little success.
RE: ...
# May 25 2002 at 7:39 PM Rating: Default
Sorry to disagree, but they didn't slap a recommended level on because of the ratio. A spiked goranga club is 12 23, and has no recommended level, even though it just came out in December as part of Luclin.

It's all about the proc. The weapons that have been tagged with a recommended level (this one, the venomous axe of the velious brood) all have big procs. It makes it too easy to level too fast, in Verant's infinite wisdom. Verant doesn't want you to level too fast, so they stopped twinks from using certain weapons with big procs by putting recommended levels on them.

Of course, if someone were thinking logically, they would have tied recommended level to skill instead of level. In other words, you can't use certain 1HB weapons until you are a grandmaster in 1HB. But either that's too hard to do from a programming perspective, or they didn't want to stop level 51s who haven't trained 1HB from using it, for whatever reason.
RE: ...
# May 25 2002 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
actually a post 50 warrior could use this well, a dd proc lands lots of agro, especially when it double and triple procs....thats ALOT of added damage. Not to mention most 51-55 warriors run around with centi longswords, that have the same ratio...so in my opinion this weapon is worth it
RE: ...
# May 12 2002 at 12:39 AM Rating: Decent
My mistake on the level, 24 is froststrike not 34. And it's 149 dd, been a while since I used it and got the damage wrong.

I found this nice o`l weap, (same as Centi but with a proc) and I planned on buying it, but before i wanted to do some research... Then i find out that a Pally tried to weild it and it wouldnt let him... "reccomended lvl 51"... What i want to know is i heard that the "reccomended" crap was just it doesnt give you the full stats or sumtin... Can anyone tell me if you can weild it before 51. Also i would like to know the lvl of the proc...

Procs at 50.

Recommended level means that if you are under the recommended level, you will not have the full potential of the weapon.

For example you will see a red number beside damage, that will be the damage until you are 51. The black number is the one you will have at 51 and after.

While doing the Ice Forged Shackles quest with a few guildies, the big turtle spawns and starts eating gnoll fishermen (it was a very funny sight to behold)! Luckily, the zone was empty except for my little group, and another guild group that was heading into ToFS.

Well, a few ports later, we had enough people to down it and this club dropped. No one wanted it! Not one person needed it either (a few aye's for alts, but those don't count).

I was awarded the item and couldn't wait to equip it.

DOH!!

EDIT: Once I hit 51, I was able to wield it. Despite what the other posts say here, I was not able to wield it until I hit 51. I don't know if it was something from a recent patch since I hit 51 in April. The damage showed as red up until I reached the suggested level.

This is a very nice club for 1hb. The proc is great, and if you combine it with IoN or DM, you get lots of proc'ing during battle. I bring this along with me when I need to wield a shield offhand. Two nights in ToV raised 1HB from 6 to 146. With haste buff, haste belt, and haste song, you will proc every 6 seconds.

As far as Rangers not using this because of aggro...well if the Warrior doesnt know what he is doing we`ll get aggro...but even if we do thats why we have Cinder Jolt =)

i have always prefered 1hb weapons to spears as a shamn, and wish i could get this skill past 200!
[any luclin item add to ihb skill?]

at lvl 51 excluding the epic this is just about the best weapon a shamn can use to solo mobs. due to HOS and dex buffs totemic bracers cloak of shadows etc my dex floats around 220 and str is 255. I have seen this thing proc 5 times in a fight thats 700damage on top of hits of 50 a time!
I been soloing in COM this week, can kill anything near the ent(pullin singles with tugurs) shadow invoker stills scares me rigid tho :)
ok i admit i am cheeting i slow the mobs with turgurs, otherwise even with a ac 900 id be minced! With a 49 pet summoned and 4 or more procs from this i can just about melee a lvl 40 mob. I gonna try this on man o wars nr kael next to really give myself a test# be interesting to see if they resist: i was amazed the proc lands on spiders in velks! thought id have no chance there(ill be honest i aint tried soling one these buggers yet)

need to get a haste item, and lvl 53 cripple spell to start meleeing 42 44 mobs

Any one reckon i can get better? johans stake of vamp slaying maybe- but lowest vampire is lvl 44 right? melleeing luclin mobs will be another ball game ~ gonna have to wait till ac is over 1k maybe
Still its all good fun :)

just thought- for those with piercing at 200 the 12 19 80dd spear is the obvious choice~ i must get mine up from meagre 161 as i am close to finishing my epic [if i can get the tear from fear~as opposed to the dove from above!]

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 13 2002 at 7:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a ranger weapon, hands down. Warriors who use this can't hold aggro worth a damn because its too slow. And there is no point in giving this to a healer class or paladin. Rangers could make good use of it because its damaging, yet slow enough not to give them unwanted attention.

I wont begin with any slanderous remark about "The One and Only MalusMoriumGuild" having a serious lack of INT in real life.. because it is obvious. I normally dont post in reply to stupid comments.. but I make an exception here. You lump Paladins in with clerics as far as not needing this weapon. If you have doubt as far as the melee power of a paladin.. You can duel me at any time.. Ill give you a 2 level lead. I can say this with confidence, as I have dueled many rangers.. and without my lay had them running.
I look at 2 things when considering a weapon. Possibly the same two things others look for.. Ratio & Stats. This weapon deserves to be in the hand of any melee who earns it... period.
No point in giving it to a paladin indeed.. loser.

If you got nothing else to do then post some dumb statement about someone's comments then don't.

Saying that, I'd say any melee dual wielding class can and should use this. It is NOT too slow. If yer too used to delay 19 crap, then go there and just ignore this. My warrior would gladly love one of these, but I'll stick to a Centi Warhammer for now until my warrior is worthy enough to use this.

This would be a good weapon for a druid at any level, even at 53 I would use this weapon.
When your group engages a mob and you are full mana what do you do? Many things will run straight at you if you cast the slightest spell on them. So I hop in and melee with the tanks for the first bit.
Right now I'm using a Bronzewood Staff that procs stun, I don't hit much but you don't need to hit to proc. You can see why this weapon would help out a little. I would have to be procing every hit to taunt off the tank, and that's not going to happen, but a little damage helps.
Learn to play without a rulebook in your hand, let casters have some fun and bonk something every now and then.
If this were druid useable, I doubt I would roll on it unless no one really wanted it. But I would buy it in a second.

Geez, remind me not to group w/you or any level 51+ druid that seriously considers engaging a mob. What if you proc early and accidentally get ttaunt and pounded. The cleric now has to 'waste' mana on healing someone that is doing something they should not be doing.
Makes as much sense as a Ranger sittin back and dotting till the tank calls that he has taunt.

um when you're full mana you nuke the mob. that will do a ton more damage than a druid with a club.

Nuking a mob at the start of a fight is one of the dumbest things any caster can do! Melee with proc for a short time is a good use of a druid if he/she is full mana.
