My 5th level dwarf warrior Dwargo was hunting goblin whelps in Butcherblock when I heard someone ask for directions to Kelethin. Tying to be helpful, I found the caller to discover a 55 level halfling warrior and a 54 human druid. The druid SoWed me and I led them to the tree elf city. The druid gave me some nice armor and the warrior gave me this sword. Now, at level 19, I routinely get double 56 pt critical hits and once got two 96 pt crit hits. The armor class helps nicely, the delay and ratio are great for a 2hs, and the magic lets me take on magic creatures. With a cleric to heal and a wiz to work over the oracles I was able to go through Crusbone castle orcs like big ugly tubs of rancid butter. This is a very nice weapon and I expect to keep it for quite a while to come.
Sounds like it. I had a lvl 50+ monk one time pay a lvl 3 alt I was starting 100pp to let him kill me so he could try to drag my corpse. No way that guy played that character up to that level, and never had to drag a corpse.
Only other explanation would be a friend powerlevelled the heck out of them, and they had just started playing. I saw a lvl 60 Vah Shir a week after Luclin opened, so it's possible.
Of course what fun is that. They miss all the neat stuff, like having Dorn pop in the derv camp in ro, or one of the named orcs in highpass, and most of the other neat experiences that you get to have, before you reach those "uber" levels and start raiding. Still remember the first time I tried to go thru kithicor, not knowing about the day/night thing. :)
Lol, Kithicor, I remember my first trip through there, it was with a lvl 9 gnome wizzy, it was at night and I was sooooooo scared, everything was red and scowled at me, hehehehe
Thinking about it almost 30 levels later, it is also possible that they knew JUST what they were doing and were simply looking for a young player to help without just giving stuff away. Who knows? I uprated to a BABS later, but now that I can get into Kaesora now I plan to find another deathwatch and go back to BB and give it to another earnest young dwarf. Pay forward.
Yah. I regularly give away weapons and armor to untwinked under-10 Shadowknights and warriors in the Field of Bone, usually drops from Dalnir or Giants or explorers (faction? what faction?). It is a blast to see someone working entirely in-game, no one to twink them, and giving them *just* enough of a weapon to relieve frustration!
Agreed!Nothing quite as gratifying as running through a noob zone to see some poor bastards corpses littering the "last mile" to the guards, and hooking him up with enough armor and a good weapon to make it fun.
I being a paladin find this weapon to be particularly usefull. I use it to raise my skill simply because of the low ratio. But paladins also get a 50% ac bonus. Meaning this blade adds 15ac.. not just 10. 1HS is particularly nice. I use a Crystallized Blade and a Crested Mistmoore shield when fighting casters. I find 1HS to be better because the bash ability interupts spells.
OK.. I have looked EVERYWHERE.. Talked to GM's.. and talked to other pally's.. and NOBODY knows what your 50% AC bonus is... as far as I know.. only Iksar's an Monks get AC bonus's.. Pally's may actually end up with More AC than a warrior.. but that usually is from his shield. But if you can show me where it says there is a 50% ac bonus.. or if anybody else can verify this.. then kewl.. my pally (who is currently level 10 atm) will rock when he grows up.
I think what he was talking about is the difference between raw AC and the actual amount of AC an item will give a specific class. For instance, my Ivy Etched bracers have a raw AC of 9 but they actually give me 13 ac.
If you are a Paladin and you want to get your epic weapon, you might consider this weapon. It has pretty good stats and it is 2hs, like a FA or FD. So if your 2hs skill is not up to par, this still has a use.
looks like a pretty good sword. The dmg delay ratio isn't that bad and 10 AC is nice. BTW ghoulbane does 1 less damage and no AC bonus. Unless you're fighting undead, this sword would be better.
this sword sucks especially for palys. people think that 2hs with double attack would do good with this sword there smoking crack. i can get my ghoulbane and my shield and do the same amount of dmg.
aye you say it sucks but look at it like this to practice 2hs not many fast 2hs.....SO it would be a decent sword to build up 2hs or if you dont have a good sheild. So lay off unless you know what the hell your talking about 1hs == major suckage fro pallies only good 1hs is sword or morning and even that doesn't compare to fa or fd
