Just got this cloak on a Raid, and as a Beastlord who can not afford a Lodizal Shield yet (they go for about 13 k on my server), I am very happy with this item. Sure is an upgrade to my Kunzar cloak. :D And my Str as a TRoll is around 220 now self buffed at level 52, so weight no problem. I hardly ever get encumbered with this char anyway. Now take my woodelf druid on the other hand.... :p

Cheers!
got one

20 weight isnt that bad for a necro. Maybe im just weird but my gear atm weighs 58 out of 98 str hehe, hp is what i want out of this item but 5int is just a bonus.

20.0 wt. is quite a bit but at 208 unbuffed str wtf does it matter, AWESOME item anyway you look at it

# Apr 16 2002 at 11:42 PM Rating: Default
lol no its not good look at cloak of shadows 12ac 13dex 0.00 WIEGHT even if u have that much str its not to convenient. the only classes this is good for is int classes and most can not afford 20wieght if u can great get it for tanks if u get this ur outta ur mind.( no offence)
RE: Ooops
# Jul 26 2003 at 2:21 AM Rating: Default
Yeah, and I suppose it'd be totally useless to my Ogre SK, who uses ALL of that, and not JUST the dex...
RE: Ooops
# Jan 20 2003 at 10:25 PM Rating: Decent
You're an idiot honestly. I am a 56 Epic wizard and I use this cloak. You said we cannot afford the weight, but I have 129 str, as a WIZARD and NEVER use NEAR that much. I love this cloak, it's a lot better than buying some 6k piece of crap for 5 int.
RE: Ooops

hey johny, fyi as a rogue I would sac 1ac and 3dex for 55 hps, 3 str, and the 30 or so hps i would get from the 6 stam. basically this is a 11ac 3 str 80 hps item for your back. man, thats GREAT for any non MT melee (who i would assume would prefer ancient seahorse hide cloak, chetari bonecrafted shield or lodizal shell shield) For my rogue who needs hps, str and decent ac this would be a very nice replacement for my spidey fur. Either this or seahorse hide probably. Would prefer to have this as with evade im rarely taking melee damage but often get nuked as soon as a mob DOES aggro me or AE cast so 80 effective hps would be very welcome. Now my warrior wears a seahorse hide cloak for the sheer AC and 25 hps. Anyhow, just thought id broaden your horizons just a bit, or try to. BTW rogue is usually 110-150 of 210-220 unbuffed STR with 900 ish AC and 1600 unbuffed hps. (hes 50ish level)

Warrior is 55 with 1100 AC 2600 hps both unbuffed.

Agree 100% with Mang ..

I wear a shimmering Terrorhide cloak on my halfling ranger. Being able to wear a cloak that not only preserves the hp bonus I have, but adds to it, then boosts up my dex for those criticals all at the cost -1 str and +20 weight ... jeesh where do I sign up? Besides my ranger has over 200 STR as it is, im not tooo worried about weight considering he rarely goes over 100

Got one recently myself and I also agree. I'm not replacing it any time soon unless a Lodi shield comes my way.

my Ogre sk loves it and I think that it rocks for all Ogre/Troll sk's that have the strength and get the int + the other stats. I would never wear this on my pure casters. just my 2 cents.

wait wait wait, back up to the person that said they were offered 2 lammy's, 2 velium diamond rings, and 10k for this cloak, are you out of your damn mind! thats probably 27-30k in items and cash for a 12k cloak, i just dont get some people
Maelstrom vs Rygorr Oracles Cloak
# Jun 27 2001 at 11:51 AM Rating: Decent
I just got a Maelstrom Cloak last night.. its a sweet little cloak and the stats are great, but yeah.. the weight is horrific. If I didn't have a tinker bag and all weight reduc bags on me, I would have given it to a guild mate.

I have a Cloak of Rygorr Oracles as well. Thats a sweet cloak in of itself. Only thing is.. ya don't get the mega dex/sta boost. The HP is welcome, and the INT boost is nice plus for us casters. It kinda stinks giving up the +10vs cold and +5vs magic from the Oracle. S'why I plan on keeping that cloak handy for uber mob raids and such where resists are key.

I got a Belt of Fire the other week.. the combination of these two items shot my stats up through the roof. Its cool to have a Sta, Dex, and Wis over 100 as a Wizard. I was being banged on by crap in SolB the other day.. i was dodging hits left and right and when crap got bad.. i managed to get that gate spell off while getting the crap beat out of me. Whew.

thats a huge caster cloak, is it true you can get this from killing him? I might just have to do some experimenting with snare and CoH and FD and see if I cant just get him solo to bank mwahhhahahahaha.
not only a quest
# Apr 29 2001 at 5:20 PM Rating: Default
You can kill Dlammaz Stormslayer to get the cloak aswell.. he's about lvl 61. a few groups of low/mid 50ies have No problem takn him down..
when he is alone.. but bring his guards with him and expect your *** handed to you. but it's a fun fight.

I wear this piece on my monk out of spite mostly. ***** the weight limit. I tell people I do it for the int.
Wt is no big deal...
# Mar 26 2001 at 1:27 AM Rating: Decent
With 6 wt reduction bags (including tinker), I only used up 60 stone out of 101 stone (101 str) for my high-elf wiz.

The extra 11ac and 55hp is really cool, not to forget the 10 dex & 6 sta over Mystic Robe. I got an offer for 2 lam, 2 vel diamond rings and 10k from a SK for it but I decide to keep it myself =)

Not to forget it has a cool look icon which you know it's uber stuff, heheheh.

You = fool....also the SK that offered the trade = fool aswell. I've seen these cloaks go for 10k a few times. You could have got yourself 2 lammys and 2 vel diamond rings for free... estupido :)

Actually there are 2 dragon heads, great dragonhead (cloak) and greater dragonhead (frostbringer), i could be wrong on names but there are 2 heads... Bah! Whatever I have the one for frostbringer on my Paladin, but not the faction to do it

not as heavy as appears
# Jan 16 2001 at 3:27 AM Rating: Default
It gives 3 str so it only really weighs 17 compared to what you have before you equip or carry it
RE: not as heavy as appears
# Jan 27 2001 at 12:05 AM Rating: Default
So loosely translated, it weighs 22 to someone who replaced a Hooded Black Cloak (+5str) with it?

It's a Giant's cloak, of course it's going to weigh alot. It wasn't made for "small" people.

Heh, if this is a giant's cloak, it should have a minus to AGI, cuz you're gonna be tripping on it as you run ^_^ \/

Aye that be so but it would be the small ppl that want it due to the 5 int which from what ive seen is pretty good for a cloak. But that said as long as you group with a sammy or druid you should be ok on the encumberance side with there str buffs and even if str falls if grouped with these guys should always have SoW so wont be slowed too much

This would rock for an ogre or troll sk
Probably no Bug
# Jan 11 2001 at 5:02 PM Rating: Decent
verant also has a way of making extremely good items, and making them all/all, then making the things super heavy. This is their way of limiting all/all items. Maybe a monk could wear this... YEAH RIGHT!!! Sorry guys, I think this is real, and no bug here...
RE: Probably no Bug
# Jan 28 2001 at 1:01 AM Rating: Default
This might be for an additional quest and the weight is the hint thats its not for everyday use..
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 17 2001 at 12:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) nope. it is not for another quest. it just wieghs a hell of alto because it has such good stats =)

Mistake?
# Dec 16 2000 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
Verant probably made another mistake with decimal places. Why a cloak would weigh 20 stones is beyond me. Probably supposed to be 2.0. Just my 2cp.
RE: Mistake?
# Mar 03 2002 at 8:08 AM Rating: Decent
No, it weighs 20.0
RE: Mistake?
# Dec 19 2000 at 5:25 AM Rating: Default
I'd imagine it's a quest item.

Most super-heavy stuff is quest items... of course, they're usually also No Drop, just to make it extra-tough.

# Dec 24 2000 at 7:12 AM Rating: Default
i dunno it could be its just a really big giant cloak heavy on yah back

This would be pretty nice for my wizard... Since I have my teleport spells I do not have to worry about weight very much. I will have about 15 pounds left over with this cloak on with my current setup. So what if I get encumbered sooner than I used to? Wizards can telport out to the bank and then back to velious. This is getting fun. Only problem is that there are alot of high priced items that are going to drop like a rock when alot of these items begin to be sold regularly.
RE: Nice but heavy
# Jan 16 2001 at 3:24 AM Rating: Default
if you look at it, it gives 3 str so in reality it only weighs 17.

I couldn't care less if other items are devalued, its a nice cloak and id swap out my CoF with this like a shot. I dont value my gaming experience by supposed PP value of my gear.
